Bob: "Screen protectors are ugly. Just take care of your Switch."
Also Bob: Drops Switch from a foot in the air and tries to force it into the dock with oversized Joy-cons attached.
He own more than 1 switch xd
He should just get onn protected screen
I gotta side with Bob on this one...screen protectors don't really do anything. Do people put their switch face down on tables or something or use it as a hockey stick? Even then, by the time my switch has seriously distracting scratches on the screen it's 2029 and everyone is using their Switch 2 or whatever instead.
The reports of docks scratching screens when the Switch first came out was enough for me to get one installed. Skinomi is my brand of choice 👍
@@Level1Sword I installed one too, and as an extra measure I used a couple strips of the fuzzy half of velcro inside the dock. It's cheap & easy to do.
I'd really like 8bitdo to get around to making their own joy-con replacements.
That would be great tbh
Or a controller with the joystick placement like the xbox/switch pro controller instead of the dualshock style joystick placement.
@@raistlarn 8bitdo’s whole thing is unique controller designs that are based on retro gaming designs, they wouldn’t make a controller with the traditional layout
And either way, they make tons of money on their current designs, they have no reason to go backwards and regress to the more common design
@@thatonek1duno regress? Dualshock is the traditional layout pioneered by Sony during the PS1 days. Xbox changed it up to a more modern layout (which feels more comfortable to me for non-2d games.) It wouldn't be regressing anything for them to make one with a modern design. Especially since their controllers last longer than the ones Nintendo is putting. But if you think it's regression to be going toward a modern design then have fun.
I don’t think that the “modern” design of controllers is BAD or outdated
I just think there’s little to no point of 8BitDo as a company to make controllers that emulate NORMAL pro controllers, especially considering that THEIR design of a “pro-style” controller is what put them on the map as a real competitor FOR regular pro style controllers
People like the SN30 Pro Plus and the 8BitDo Pro 2 because it ISNT in the form factor of a regular pro controller.
People like 8bitDo cuz they have ORIGINAL designs.
So... would making a regular style pro controller be a bad idea for them? Probably not, I just don’t think it would sell as well
Wulff Den - "A lot of these non-offical controllers don't have the same sort of quality assurance that Nintendo has"
Me - Sitting here with 3 sets of joy cons all of which drift.
Quality not reliability hahaha

How??? I have 200 hours on 4 games on switch (one of which is smash) and my og joycond have no drifty

The Whiskey Tribe has good sponsorship reads, also.
Bob and MandJTV make ads enjoyable for me
Go visit Daniel Thrasher's yt if you like skits...and adds that are also skits!!

The fact that the Official nintendo approved Hori controller has no bluetooth or gyro

Licensing fees., Gotta cut it where you can.
@@LegendarySkypenis theyd still make profit.. theyre just putting that profit offset onto the customers so the shareholders income doesnt drop.
You also forgot that the Hori don't have any rumble, it's really jarring to play without any feedback.
@@Michneko binbok dpad looks pretty rough though dude..
My guess is if they put Gyro and Rumble in the Hori, which is Liscensed by Nintendo, it would become a bigger competition with their own Joy Cons. Nintendo want to sell Joy Cons first and foremost.
I appreciate you taking the time to make your sponsored bits quite funny
So we have come full circle and re-invented the Sega Game Gear. Awesome.
Seems like it's catching on
Who else got excited when Kevin kenson said that Bob's video was coming out today
Ive been checking back on RUclips all day lol
Me, I’ve been checking like all day!!
Same!
Precisely why I'm here so fast! Kept checking Bob's channel to see this video 😅
me
I think the tabs on the back of the Hori's are intended to reduce flexion along the connector. Without them the rails would be holding the weight of the switch when at rest, and would have to directly resist any bending forces, which happen more often with a bigger joy-con and are amplified by the distance of the palm grips from the rail.
I have a Splitpad- it's pretty good, I can't say I've had any problems with it. I will say that I do miss the rumble more often than I thought I would (currently playing through Paper Mario, which has some really nice HD rumble at certain points of the game). The lack of motion controls are also a little unfortunate, as the ergonomics and larger sticks would have been nice for games like Warframe that can use gyro controls.
Yes me too I got the hori split pad pro. Been using it for a few weeks now. Love it but tbh i didn't know it didn't have rumble. I watched a video on RUclips a short tome after I ordered it and was disappointed when guy said there was no rumble . Aside from that pretty good. Only other thing i have found I get teally bad pins and needles in my hands after a while but maybe that's me as I am aging, no idea.
I recently got the Kydlan JoyCons and I absolutely love them and makes playing in portable mode comfortable. I think they're worth it if you don't want to spend that much on the Split Pad Pro
I love your advertisements. They’re so entertaining!
“When was the last time you felt HD Rumble?” ... last time I used joycons with HD rumble on? Do people not notice HD Rumble? I curse my switch lite every time I have to play a game I know is better with rumble.
Super smash bros is unplayable without rumble, I’m sorry man
@@Actiontime70 I usually play smash with a GameCube-style controller but sometimes I use Pro controller just for that rumble because it’s nice.
I think you're confusing HD rumble with just plain old regular rumble.
HD rumble is when games make use of the technology to generate different specific points of rumble on the controller to simulate certain effects. 1,2,3 Switch! was an overpriced game for being a tech demo but it showcased it well. You can simulate objects moving through the joycons for example.
The truth is most Switch games do not use this feature. They use traditional rumble most of the time (outside of 1st party games) which you would find on any standard controller.
I believe he's talking about HD rumble vs regular rumble.
@@CJSai64 not confusing anything my dude. I know exactly what HD Rumble is and most of the switch games I play use it.

The Binboks are absolutely amazing! I've been using these for 2-3 weeks now and my wife and I love them. We both had absolutely 0 problems with our 2 sets.
What about now?
@@edward8049 they have been fantastic! My wife upgraded to the Version 2 that are slimmer in design but our Version 1s still work to this day and are always used above the Nintendo joy cons.
@@Grimgrin666 What about the dpad? I play a lot of indie games that work best with d-pad
@@patrickbutler87 I will say that the Version 1 has a bit of a mushy D-Pad, however the Version 2 model has an improved D-Pad and I enjoy it alot more than the Version 1 model.
@Anonymous Mystery they are much closer to joycon size yes.
Bob's delivery of that long-ass name, coupled with the perfectly spaced "But these have *two* programmable buttons on the back", was amazing.
Great vid, got the Hori when you dropped that vid and have been loving it, but the Binbok is tempting.
I'm always worried Bob is going to break his Switch or Dock with his reckless abandon, but I can sleep a little easier now knowing that soon he will be getting the new Mario Edition Switch and will have another backup.
He can buy a switch in his sleep
The way he was just plopping his Switch into the dock was hurting my spine!!! 🤣🤣

Oh yeah, my drifting joycons says the same about this.
For sure.
And before that even happened, my L button ceased function completely for no reason, and of course, also suffered the blocked connection issue- meaning unless the Joycon has direct line of sight, it won't work. 3 things wrong with one controller, and yet the right side is totally fine.
A lot of youtubers are afraid to say bad things about nintendo lol
Just send them into Nintendo to get them fixed! :)

I love the light around the joycons!
"Mech people really tried to love that game."
I feel personally attacked.
I mean he's not wrong, the game definitely could've been a bit more polished in some areas. I had fun with the game though
@@axf-22 It hurts to admit, but yeah. Could've been way better.
I got the Binbok ones and I like them. I wanted replacements for my drifting joycons and a more conventional controller with a + shaped d-pad, so these saved me some money on a pro controller for a while. I made the stick lights blue and red to match the neon blue/neon red joycons.
How are those Binboks holding up? I got mine recently but I been paranoid about them breaking down.
I need something like this for my big beefy hands. Thanks much for this video! Very helpful indeed!
I really like how the Kinvoco raises the view of the screen. Wish the rest of them had this feature
"Not the same quality assurance that nintendo has"
sir do you remember joy cons?
Quality for 45 hours worth of gameplay and under
The thing I like about the "back pieces" is because I almost exclusively play in handheld, and I dislike all the 'pressure' on the slides of the joycons.
Same. I've heard tales of Hori splitpads bending and damaging the rails on your switch.
Thanks bob!
I was searching a review of the variuous type of joycons to see which joycons buy.
The back plate makes it more sturdy it don’t move or have the waggle that the other ones get after a while I love it
I am pretty sure all of the Binbox joycons have the "sticker" behind the D-pad and supposedly if you remove it the D-pad is a little bit *more* tolerable.
“It is February now” I though it actually was for a second and freaked out
I was like OMG we traveled in time!!!
Reading this in March lmao
I really appreciate these kinds of videos, thanks Bob!
I can say that never in my life did i ever think id look forward to an ad but its almost becoming the highlight.
I would really like to watch an updated video or a review with the NYXI Hyperion, its a newer option that seems to be waaay better than anything else on this category of products.
I really like the Dobe one, i wish a company like Hori or PowerA would make a controller of that style, it makes the switch feel more like a dedicated handheld
If the orange right stick on Dobe was rubbery itll be pretty much perfect
Loving the Awesome Screenplay Bob!
Dude, I love your channel. #1 spot for gaming hardware info
Something like the BINBOK is definitely what I've been looking for, joycons that have ergonomics and also work wirelessly; being able to take them off the switch and connect them together so they work as a controller is huge for me
Did u bought them did u got them fine or with issues

@@stopmotionms7627 I hope you still have interest in them, I bought them like a year ago and they still work fine, daily use and I really can't go back to regular joy cons, I hope you buy them
@@carlos20572 i Will buy
I'm honestly surprised Nintendo didn't do this, cause as soon as I saw the split pad I thought it would be cool to be able to attach them together like some kind of better pro controller.
i picked up the split pad pro a couple weeks ago specifically in anticipation for playing monster hunter rise in bed (and on the toilet) and while it lacks some fancy features, it's honestly stuff I personally don't miss, but i can understand if those are important to you! I personally think they work great and are super comfortable, and if you only need a bigger joy con for playing in portable mode, I'd say go for the Hori!
They still work fine? I know i am a bit late hahaha
Watching this at 2am when I was tired and slap-happy was such a funny and extremely entertaining video.
Wulff dens vids are getting better every time!
Finally got around to getting some of those binbok controllers. Love em so far. Little more grip than the hori split pad and the lights a great little extra gimmick. Also got a “pro” controller bundled with it from them for an extra $10 which was totally worth it. It’s a solid controller and one of my favorite features is they both can wake the console unlike my 8bitdo controller.
How are those binbok controllers holding up? I heard about some downsides about them and I was wondering if they are common.
Jude Harley I haven’t used them in a little while now but I have had zero issues with mine. They’ve been great so far. Considering official controllers from Nintendo are all riddled with issues themselves. I’d say these are well worth the risk. They seemed to have good customer service as well so I’m sure if you got a lemon or something they’d work with you to fix it. You’re essentially getting a better, more comfortable pair of joycons plus a pro controller for possibly even a little less than official joycons. Even if an issue develops you’ll already have a second controller to switch to if needed.
Can you turn the RBG completely off on these controllers? They look exactly like what I want but I don’t care for the lights.
Yarn_dat_jezza _ I’m not sure. I like the lights so I never tried and it’s been a while since I messed with or looked at the settings.
tbh my biggest complaint about joycons Is the feeling at the connection and how much they flex so the dobe is for people like me that feel like they will snap off their joycon if not careful with it Also Screen protectors are a must because plastic EASILY scratchable screen
It's been a bit since I've seen one of your videos. But when I saw these controllers on tik tok and needed a review I knew exactly where to go! Thanks for the great video!

The buttons feel almost indentical to regular joycons, and the thumbsticks are nice too. I think these are also a great cheaper and slightly "beefier" alternative
THANK YOU WULFF
4:02 Yes, the Pikachu drawings makes it manlier.
I see these being SUPER nice to play once i can get back into coffee shops, or even playing in the park. Would be way more comfortable to hold, not have to worry about setting up a stand and bringing along a pro-controller if you want it to be comfortable. I love my switch, but if i'm playing for more than 20 minutes, my hands cramp up if i'm in portable mode. The Binbock seems to be the seller for me, solely for the gyro-controls. Shame Hori doesn't have that, I'd gladly pay the price of a pro-controller to have a Hori one with gyro-controls.
