I always liked that. That moment of the player asking the ump and being calm and learning this ump. Adjusting for the rest of the game. Not arguing. The coach is a moron
0:27 I can't wait for the crying when this butchered pitch gets called a strike for Strike 3 by RoboUmp. Ump haters: do you want perfection? Because this is what perfection looks like behind the plate: catchers who can barely catch.
The title of the video explains the problem. Umpires aren't supposed to have individual strike zones. They are supposed to enforce the strike zone that is defined by the rulebook. I thought that almost all of the umpires who insisted on having their own strike zone had retired.
The strike zone defined by the rulebook is individual ... to the player. Specifically, the top and bottom of the zone are based are player-specific. Umpires are graded by MLB, and for balls and strikes those grades are by the rulebook. If an umpire loves calling strikes just *off* the outside corner, that's going to lower his grade.
@@lastdance2099 The CBA between the MLBUA and MLB creates a two-inch margin of error in all four directions. Almost all of the missed pitches are in that area, so they don't officially count as misses.
Good for Murphy patting Ortiz’s back as if he wanted to take care of business by arguing with the umpire. Go get ‘em, Pat. Do the same thing Counsell did jawing off at umpires. 👍
Atta babe! Always gotta wait for the pun. So funny. Thanks CCS.
Pat Murphy no stranger getting the gate

Well said!
As a brewers fan I’m not upset and this is what makes the game great, keep the umps!
Have you been watching NHL Player Safety videos? Your summaries remind me of those
That was definitely a strike. Great pitch to strikeout the batter.
Strike 3 was a Perfect Pitch, no need to argue.
@@juan833blue oh agreed
Well maybe Pat was frustrated and so was I
Hidden message, Lindsey? :D
If you think that message was hidden, you might be so far in the closet that Mr. Tumnus is asking you to move over so he can see the lamppost.
@teebob21
Ya, I mean.....she spelled out in black in white...lmao
I suppose technically he evened it out by not calling the borderline strike a ball right after the missed call. Still, oofda.
"If he had gone both ways, that wouldn't be a problem!" absolutely got me.

Your words aren't the problem, but I think your expectations might be. Robert, how many games do you work behind the plate each year?

@@teebob21 They are MLB's expectations, not mine. That is why MLB started using pitch tracking systems.
But, but... can't we just all get along?
This comment could go both ways
