One of the things i loved about moving from a large space to a smaller one was the overall decluttering. It was oddly satisfying to get rid of so many things haha
Just sold my 3 bedroom house and moving into a studio. I thought I was a minimalist, but boy do I have a lot to put in my garage sale. Thanks for the tips.
I’m moving into a studio apartment by the end of the year and have never lived alone. Ive been so anxious about what to buy or get rid of, and this was extremely helpful.
I agree with everything, except the sheets. Always have an extra pair of sheets/pillowcases bc accidents happen or ppl come over and it also will reduce your utilities so you don’t have to run your washer/dryer. Also make sure to have a bed that has under bed storage so you can put it in a flat rollaway container and slide it under!
This is fab. So many videos are encouraging people to buy all kinds of kitchen accessories and decor, claiming without stuff ‘it won’t feel like a home and you will get homesick”. Homesick? First world problems. I was so eager to move out and did not want to get back to my parents even if it meant eating out of cardboard.
I’m moving into a studio apartment the end of this year. I don’t have any living room stuff and this will be my first time living by myself. I lived with roommates before but never by myself. My biggest items are my dresser and bed. Also I applied to places where utilities are included as well.
The studio apartment I'm about to move to, doesn't have a dedicated kitchen. My air fryer is about to become my best friend! Side note: I LOVE to cook, but I'm willing to find a work around for the location I'm getting and finally having my own space. I'm almost 22 and never even had my own room.
Nice video! I am living in a studio apartment now, but thank God, the apartment is spacious and has full kitchen! I didn’t have one in the studio I used to live before. I bought an all in one: coffee maker, toaster and grill for $90 and saves a lot of space! I used to have all separate coffee maker, toaster, etc. and it was a mess and I didn’t have space!
Still valid years later. I just found this when surfing youtube for small apartment living ideas. I have a two bed that has gone up to $1650 a month. I'm now on SS and need to downsize. I thought two to one but if I sell most of my belongings to get rid of things I no longer need, maybe a nize larger studio would be doable. Your video is giving me ideas for what to keep and what to sell. Thank you!
I got rid of my microwave, rice cooker and a bunch of other kitchen stuff when I moved to a studio. I'm now considering getting rid of my kettle as I find my gas stove and a pot is faster than getting my kettle, filling it, putting it away after, etc. But that's a matter of coffee drinker vs tea drinker, my coffee maker is my most precious item in the kitchen :)
Back in my renovated apartment which is smaller and has less storage space! I was gonna buy a new microwave-old one threw out but now I’m going to put off for a few weeks to c if I can live without! I do have a huge island but don’t like the cluttered look! I have about 10 sets of sheets but I’m going to pack up all but 3 sets -put them in under the bed storage-because it saves on laundry-love it! I’ll keep 3 sets because I have overnight sofa guests periodically! Great video which encouraged me to subscribe to ur channel! Ty!’
This was the most helpful and reasonable video out of all of my searches. I am thinking differently, more rationally and not complicating myself as much as I usually do. I really appreciate you making this video, thank you so much 🙏 x
I live in a studio and you just named everything i use on a daily basis or like consider essential! Its really funny! Love to this how everyone lives differently 😂😂
I own both the 6qt InstantPot and a 5qt 11-in-1 Ninja Foodi. Between them, I am in great shape for meal prep in a small space. The Ninja lives atop my dorm sized fridge, and the InstantPot stays in the closet.
Closet space is my major problem. I have gotten rid of so much clothing and still had to buy a rack that is sitting in my so call living space. Coming from the entertainment industry, I had a lot of clothing. Representing Artist you're expected to look your best. Now I have retired, but I podcast from my 2 by 4. This requires equipment. So that I handled by stacking. But I had to buy a carousel to hold my music, lateral file case(tried not to have this, but research material requirement), Bookcase, computer, printer(trying to find a smaller one that can print on both sides of the paper). Other than sleeping here and interviewing guests, fortunately, we have a community room where family and friends can gather. I know I have to continue to reduce linen, books, etc. Major concern closet space. You helped me to make a decision on dining by displaying the moveable island and stools, which also gives a little more storage space. An older woman so this is new to me. Always lived in a house. How can you help?
Perhaps try a tall dresser or armoire. Or you could try storing (using vacuum seal to minimize required space) your off season clothing items and rotating them with the weather to the closet, where commonly used outfits hang out.
My essential items in kitchen are bread maker , rice cooker , pressure cooker , air frier , microwave , small oven , toaster , waffle maker , fridge , washer and a dryer 🤪😋😛😝😜
New Subbie here. I came across your video and appreciate your ideas. I am going from a 2 bedroom to a 1 bedroom or maybe studio and have donated or got rid of alot of things. BTW your fur babies are so cute.
Have been very helpful, Thor’s is the on,y video I watch of you, but if you haven’t done so do one about kitchen appliances. Love to hear more about what are available for what use
I am just moving to studio apartment I bought Sofa bed so it takes less space during the day , i use just caffe table as dinning and have tea pot like you
I had to get rid of so much stuff yesterday cause I don’t want to live in clutter :( hard letting sooo much money go to the garbage though.. my mom took a lot of my decorations tho so someone will enjoy them..
I haven’t had a microwave in well over a decade. We kept breaking them. Then we moved to a toaster oven and since the last one died over 2 years ago we haven’t replaced that either. There are things you really don’t need.
This video was obviously pre pandemic. Do you regret not having workout equipment now? We purchased a treadmill right before the virus hit and it saved us!
During the pandemic lockdown there were delivery trucks pulling up outside of our downtown San Francisco building every single day and delivering boxes labeled “Peloton.” I wonder if all of those people now regret having a peloton taking up half of their livingroom? I, personally, wanted to get a rowing machine that stores upright and hide it in a corner. They make some really nice ones that are meant to be stowed easily. But at the time we weren’t working so couldn’t afford it. Catch 22! Lol
Hi Caira! I stumbled across your vid while searching for single mom in single studio decor/setup. Are you able to suggest how to decorate/design a studio living space for a mom and her child? Thanks a mill!
I requested a 1 bed × 1 bath but due to the HORRIFIC STUPID EMPLOYEE giving me the studio/loft and there is no more 1 bed × 1 bath, this is REALLY HELPFUL!!! Thank you so much!!!! 🤟🏼🌻🌻🌻🌻😊😊😊🥳🥳 I really hate my loft / studio but I have to make the best of it. It was not my intention but Im paying for someone else's mistake.

This stuff was either obvious things u wouldn't take into a studio...like a stove, or exercise equipment... or just silly stuff. Like decorative pillows..? Really? Decorative pillows is on a top list of unnecessary things for a tiny apt.
1) Dining table
2) Desk
3) Kitchen gadget e.g. coffee maker, eye fryer, instant pot, etc.
4) Microwave
5) Decorative pillows
6) Bedding
7) Exercise equipment

I literally have all of these things but exercise equipment in my studio apartment 😂
@@ashcrazley same here🤣
@Rajeswari Ghosh yh and no microwave? Not alot of options for food lol

Definitely! Everyone needs to figure out what is the most useful for them and make that the priority!
I’m so glad I came across your video and your channel. Will be following you more as I go through my studio apartment search journey this year! ❤
The rolling island and instant pot are such good ideas. Thanks for the video!

Being a culinary student, narrowing down my kitchen equipment is HARD!! it's like choosing between my children lol
This was the most helpful and reasonable video out of all of my searches. I am thinking differently, more rationally and not complicating myself as much as I usually do. I really appreciate you making this video, thank you so much 🙏 x
I don’t have any island or couch/coffee table so I’m gonna have a dining table 😂 but I also like cooking good meals and sitting down to eat them
That’s awesome!! It’s totally about prioritizing what makes the most sense for you.
I used to keep just set of sheets, but since I do not have my own washer and dryer it works better with having 2 or 3 sets.
Not having a washer and dryer would definitely make that more complicated.
I live in a studio and you just named everything i use on a daily basis or like consider essential! Its really funny! Love to this how everyone lives differently 😂😂
That's wild, my name is Kyra and pronounced the same way.. way to find a video I need to watch as I'm about to get my 1st apartment.
That’s so cool! I haven’t met many people with even a similar name!
So we just not going to talk about how funny that opener was?... No?... Okay, carry on.
Marcelle Craig 😂😂😂
It was disgusting
Omg so funny 😂😂
Marcelle Craig funny?! Bad behaviour.

Maybe try command hooks and hang more of your items too to try and save closet space! I also keep a lot of things under my bed to help with this.
Perhaps try a tall dresser or armoire. Or you could try storing (using vacuum seal to minimize required space) your off season clothing items and rotating them with the weather to the closet, where commonly used outfits hang out.

TV trays are the best - and take no space when not in use!
Yes!! So good. I have one I use a lot.
My first apartment was a >300 sq ft studio, and my wooden TV tray served as my dining table and desk.

I can’t wait to get a studio apartment soon since it’s more cheaper from what I heard & having a large area for me would be confusing
Love small space living! ☺️
Ironing board
Broom & mop (just get one Swiffer which comes apart, and is multi-use)
Disposables generate so much waste, I recommend the mops with washable pads

Why from 2 bedrooms to studio 🧐
