Maintenance Renegade there was the Dark Nest Trilogy, the Legacy of the Force series and the Fate of the Jedi series, the last novel of the later era of Legends was Crucible
@Maintenance Renegade honestly, I didn’t like the way he died, just because it was caused by yet another device that can be used to destroy a planet, like woahhhh so original.
All this "Vong War" could have ended quickly if Luke Skywalker and Mara Jade let the Thrawn clone survive. Wait... It could have all been prevented if they acted quickly.
They did decide to let it survive, they were forced to destroy it to escape and it would've died anyway

I have NO hope for that, but in its place I really want to see the this series.
If I remember correctly there are certain hints in the new canon that the Yuuzhan Vong might appear.

If I had the reigns over the sequel trilogy I would have done Episode 7 with the New Republic having little skirmishes with the Remnant but then discovering a threat from another galaxy on it's way and then for Episode 8 and 9 to be the Yuuzhan Vong invasion and war.
While I would love to have them come back to cannon, I doubt that they will. I just don't see Disney going the dark route that would be needed for their species with their love of pain, their disturbing bio-tech, and their culture of self mutilation.
Idea: do an episode where you describe your “perfect fleet”, with access to ships from Star Wars, Halo, Mass Effect, and/or other sci-fi universes.

Luis Acosta The New Jedi Order series is about the Yuuzhan Vong. Though wouldn't recommend reading it if you haven't any idea of the Imperial Civil War/Post Endor era.
I read them out of order, and I think I missed a few, but I highly recommend Traitor.

I actually liked the Vong. I feel like it gave the Emperor’s actions justification besides being evil. Decades of work, all to fight these threats.
I thought this was a great summary, but before anyone goes getting audible subscriptions for this series, I would personally not recommend the New Jedi Order audio books versions to anyone without mentioning the caveat that they are severely abridged and cut out roughly 2/3 of the contents of those books. If you know that going in and are okay with it, that's fine I guess, but people should at least know that before signing up for audible for a series like this.
Yes, if you want to listen to it then get the Epub and use a text to speech reader. For example the entire battle of dantooine is cut out of the second book.
I think pretty much every star wars book that got an audio book version was abridged until after the Legacy of the Force series. The only exceptions, at least that I know of, were the novelized versions of the movies. Since Legacy of the Force they started making unabridged audio books, or at least around that time at any rate. So far as I know, the only pre-Legacy of the Force stuff to get unabriged audio books were the Thrawn Trilogy, the Hand of Thrawn Doulogy, and the Darth Bane Trilogy.
Davrn As far as I know, all the audio book adaptations of the Dark Horse comics were unabridged, but otherwise yes, those are the only other unabridged productions I am aware of.
I truly hope that Penguin House Audio re-records the abridged novels. There are so many that I would love to read again but I just dont have time. Audio books are the best thing ever for adulting.
At this point, I highly doubt it.
Not knowing much about the vong, I think this series will be informative for people like me who don’t know a whole lot of legends lore

Lockjaw Lucasfilm beat them to it by giving the okay to the garbage that was the Vong. While losing books like the X-Wing series, when Disney purged fanon into Legends I was extremely happy that the Vong weren’t canon anymore.

The vong were extremely powerful but somehow a fractured galaxy was able to even compete with them.

Don't forget also the logistical problems that come with a wide front.
The Vong were somewhat overrated. Their biotech was more of a novelty than a threat. Only the poor leadership by the New Republic let them get nearly as far as they did. As a species they are stagnant and have little going for them.

But would this pizza planet have any crust on the surface? What's beneath the crust? Is it deep dish? Is the molten core mozzarella cheese or marinara sauce? Does the planet have edible wildlife? Would it be smooth or rough with toppings? These are important considerations!

I'm a huge fan of the New Jedi Order series. Because most of the story is based on novels, we don't get many visuals. Comics and Source books provide some captures but that's about it. This video series is exactly what I needed. Thank you taking the time to make these

All this Yuuzhang Vong stuff sounds like combination of Gears of War, Shadow of Mondor, and Mass Effect.
Gears of War: The Vong have the brutality of the Locus.
Shadow of Mondor: The Vong look like Orks.
Mass Effect: The Vong have similar evil purposes as the Reapers.
Mass Effect: Kills off my favorite characters, with the only difference being, Mara is female human, Chewie being male Wookiee, Luke being male human. Mordin being male Salarian, The Grell squadmate from ME2 (I hate his name because I can never remember it. It starts with an M, I think), Ash being female human (saving her, an extra difference)
Why I have a strong distaste and/or hatred for the pre-Disney Legends, because Mara dies...

I noticed something about the Yuuzhan Vong. And that is that they are similar to the Kingdom of Cobra-La from the 1987 G.I.Joe movie. You should watch that movie, and see the comparisons between the two factions. In fact, I think the Yuuzhan Vong were inspired by the Kingdom of Cobra-La.

About where to start on Legends: I started with the Thrawn trilogy and since it was one of the first major Legends works, I think it is a pretty good start. Timothy Zahn is a fantastic author (as was proven again by the outbound flight and his canon Thrawn novel) and the series gradually deepens ones perception of the star wars galaxy without being too overwhelming all at once
