The part that irritated me was that he didn't discuss any of the other contenders in Legends. E.g. Galactic Federation of Free Alliances, Fel Empire, Sith Empire (that succeeded the Fel Empire), the Eternal Fleet, the Rakatan navy, etc. etc. The NR had a meh fleet in that context.
@@shauryapallav5674 I mean it wasn't? The NR was only one member of the alliance that would make up the GFFA. It also had a different government structure and balance of power. Also, the GFFA's navy would be about twice as large as the NR's navy and would also consist of different types of ships entirely (Hapans, Imperials, and the advent of the scythe-class ships come to mind). There's also the change in Navy philosophy as the NR went from whatever was available to the New Class Program to the Star Defender program. Meanwhile, the GFFA shifted from the expensive Star Defender program to a set of less expensive but heavily armed compact capital ships. It's sort of like creating a video about the greatest land-based militaries of all time and then declaring the Roman armies of the Marian-reforms the victor, without considering any of the other forms the roman armies would take.

Quality wins in this case, also if a star destroyer with 10 turbolasers (no prices for guessing which) can destroy a ship that has more than 20 and have two giant cannons in front of it (Munificent frigate), I don't think it will have a chance against one that has 80 turbolasers (Nebula destroyer)
@@nicholaswong6737 I said than, even without many anti Capital weapons, a Venator could wipe the floor with the mayority of the CIS capital ships individually (main exceptions are the Providence and Luckrehuk), so something than was specificaly made to counter something as well armed as an ISD (in this case being the Nebula SD) would be more than an unfair match for almost all the CIS capital ships
So you could say it was the nature of the Empire, IE all of the politicking and backstabbing, as well as the overly politicized nature of Imperial Military High Command, that caused its otherwise massive and powerful fleet to be weaker and less effective than it should have been. Which, isn't all that outlandish or hard to believe if you look at history. Case in point, the Supreme Commander during the early stages of the Yuuzhan War, Sien Sovv, was a political appointee to the command instead of a military one. And while he would eventually prove himself capable of the job, he also presided over the loss of Courasunt. This was the problem the Empire had. It had a large and well equipped fleet, but far to many of its commanders were in command for political rather than military reasons. And that almost always ends badly.
Not only that. The ISDs etc were mainly designed to envoke fear, so the repressed citizens of the galactic empire wouldnt rebell. But this was achieved at the expense of combat effectiveness. The imperial navy had huge flaws and wasnt as effective or dangerous as it looked like. Combined with partly incompetent personnel due to political fights within the empire and spreading corruption, the imperial navy was deeply flawed. This is one of the biggest reasons the rebel alliance was able to defeat this fascist dictatorship.
Isaiah Albers mmm get their capital blown up because they ignore the obvious threat that their military intelligence gave them? Other than that demilitarize to the point that they only have one fleet :)
Hapan Battledragons were insanely powerful, and Hapan resources led to the creation of a similarly powerful and streamlined fleet. Not as vast, but I would argue they were on the same level conceptually and strategically.
As long as you compare the times, napoleons force was great, but any modern military would wipe the floor with them, or the soviet army(If you have the roughly same sized force)
Pellaon all day long. Tho in nebulas defense it would be decades if no centuries old because legacy never gave us a exact date of conception of the pellaon I think.
I love how you're detailing this, and I hope that you'll be able to do videos showing these proper New Republic forces battling Warlord and Remnant forces, like your Battle of the Dreadnoughts video.

What happened to the mon Calamari ship yards during the events of episode 7 and 8 are they still making ships for the resistance now or where they destroyed and were all the republic fleets in the hosnian prime system when it was destroyed or what cause they the movie made it seem like they are no more fleets to help or support the rebel alliance, and this video just goes on to show how powerful there military was. And I highly doubt there entire fleet of ships was in the hosnian prime systems. So do you think we might see a new/ hidden fleet that was part of the republic or just the millennium falcon cause that’s the last of the resistance it would be great if you could respond😁😁
Vs matchup Brute or Brute chieftain from Halo vs A Predator from the Predator franchise. With 2 rounds First round unarmed and unarmored. Second round fully armed and armored
TheWingland brute loses, but a chieftain my stand a chance. Imma put money on the predator though. Although the brutes ability to smell and track prey, on top of raw physical strength and insurance would be an incredible asset. I just believe the weapondry used by the Predator along with their skill set would of put some of the brutes advantages to the point where the predator would win the majority of the time.
You now have to do the New Republic *redesign of the ISD.* There have been videos on how to fix it, I have previously _posted essays_ in the comments sections of those videos. It would be interesting to see how the New Republic actually went about it.
casbott they really didn’t retrofit the ones they received that much. The tactics and logistics on HOW they used it changed. Unlike the empire, the NR used the ISD’s in their proper role, as a capital ship to ship combatant, not as a general purpose can solve anything ship. They supported it with escort frigates, a proper fighter Corp, etc
Han Park it’s not that simple, but they did make slight modifications. But adding anything significant like 30 extra turbos or mon Cala shielding would require an extensive redesign of the entire superstructure and hypermatter reactor, because the standard ISD reactor would not be able to generate the amount of power needed for those modifications.
It was the greatest as far as we know. We know nearly nothing about the Chiss or Empire of the Hand navy. This mean that we can't determine which navy was the greatest. IOPSlayer Slayz No problem, some of Covenant ship names are confusing, plus some of their carriers and cruisers look very similar to each other. A CSO heavy energy projector would probably one shot a Venator lol.
it was an expensive Navy though I honestly liked the Venator because it was a flexible and cheap star destroyer, namely on its role as a carrier and capital ship the Allegiance was a slightly better ISD with better weapon placement and point defense laser's alongside the Victory would be well supplemented the munificent and Quasars are good ship's to have for support vesicles Lukrehulk's and Providence's would be great planetary defense ship's
@@AnakinSkywakka also include some Munificent's and Acclimator's for a fast production and disposable fleet ship and Lukrehulk's for planetary defense and you got a winner but the Quasar, Charger C70, Cr90, and Republic medical Frigate and Carrac class are more meant to harass opponent's in small number's
leon fierce at that point the Venator would be so outclassed by capital ships it’s size it wouldn’t be worth it to use as an all round general purpose ship. As a specialized fleet carrier maybe, but the Secutor and Endurance classes already filled that role and did it better.
@@nicholaswong6737 I honestly don't like the Endurance and Secutor class the venator was an ingenious carrier in my opinion, and all the carrier's after were only playing for second place also, it can't be that hard to modify it with modern star war's technology, replacing and rearranging some weapon's here and there answer me this, if the Venator were brought back and modified to modern-day star wars technology with the same shield's as the Nebula and the same weapon's and weapon placement's, would it not, and be honest, be one of the best capital ship/carriers in your fleet, and if not, please explain why, I like the Venator because it was designed with rationally minded people that knew what they were doing and is in my heart, one of the best star wars carrier's in all of star wars
leon fierce here’s the problem: Power generation. A Venator can’t be modified to the standard of 30 ABY tech because it lacks the reactor necessary to sustain more turbolasers. In order to modify the Venator up to current standards, you’d have to redesign the entire superstructure of the ship. At that point it isn’t even a Venator anymore. In terms of shielding it’s also a problem. Power generation for the advanced mon Cala shields, let alone the triple redundant ones require vast amount of energy the Venator simply couldn’t produce with its outdated hypermatter reactor. It also had an exposed Bridge, and a limited backwards firing arc for its main turbolasers. I love the Venator to death, but it is outdated compared to the secutor and Endurance, which were the next evolution of dedicated carrier. Even the FO in canon recognized the value of the Venator, but did not employ it. Instead they built an entirely different ship taking the best aspects of it while getting rid of its weaknesses via the superstructure redesign. What they got was the resurgent, a battleship as well as a carrier.
Video's like this just remind me how much Disney has devastated Star War, It used to be such rich, deep lore, with things that were genuinely well thought out...to what is now comparable to a small childs fanfic
I’d frankly argue the CIS had the best navy, their ships are all designed with modularity and tactical use in mind, not to mention them being manned by droids makes them phenomenal in groups/fleets, while the New Republic had thousands of races within their ships, they all have different weaknesses and strengths, droids don’t have this weakness. Along with the fact that the New Republic did not use their fleet, and technology, to their full power due to political and other restraints, while the CIS always used their fleet to the best they possibility could, they where fighting a force with outmatched them perhaps by a full order of magnitude, they had little choice, while the New Republic never pumped their ships out, excluding in wartime. I may be wrong in some of my statements, but it’s just a though, and opinion I have.

Old meme, solid execution.
@@ChickenWilickers gffa was the new republic tho.
It was more balanced between the republic of old and the doctrines of the empire. A compromise of the two
Perfectly balanced, as all things should be
@@user-rr6jj5mr6f
Indeed.
Republic no capital ships.
Empire barely no carriers.
Because, the empire wasn't completely wrong. Thats why there were many who genuinely believed in it. It brought order to the galaxy, or so it seemed. But the sith were in control and their desire for power corrupts all.
There's a bunch of arguments that can spawn from my comment. I made it in less than a minute, if you have a counter argument I probably agree to that too.

@@mrridiculous4896 The Resistance is basically what Disney wanted the Rebellion to be, cause as far as they’re concerned, the well-equipped and organized Rebel Alliance defeated the Empire in a year. The sequels would have been epic had they either had the Yuuzhan Vong Invasion, or if they made it a proper war between the New Republic and the First Order. Just seeing the Nebula and Endurance on screen would have been awesome. Seeing the Starhawk would also have been awesome.
Ah, the New Republic Navy. This video brings a tear to my eyes.
This is a great source to expand my starwars knowledge on ships, factions, armies, etc. Thank god for ecks existance, what i think is one of THE MOST reliable sources of starwars knowledge.
It took everyone in the galaxy including the Chiss to beat the Vong but yes their navy was nasty against everyone else.
Legends New Republic vs Seperatist Navy, Quality vs Quantity
Quality wins in this case, also if a star destroyer with 10 turbolasers (no prices for guessing which) can destroy a ship that has more than 20 and have two giant cannons in front of it (Munificent frigate), I don't think it will have a chance against one that has 80 turbolasers (Nebula destroyer)
Alejandro Hernández an Imperial Class Star Destroyer has 60 Turbos of varying sizes depending on the class. Much more than 10.

I love learning how the new republic works in legends and canon. It's interesting!
Legitimate question, what does the New Republic do in canon, I forgot?
Isaiah Albers mmm get their capital blown up because they ignore the obvious threat that their military intelligence gave them? Other than that demilitarize to the point that they only have one fleet :)
Hapan Battledragons were insanely powerful, and Hapan resources led to the creation of a similarly powerful and streamlined fleet. Not as vast, but I would argue they were on the same level conceptually and strategically.

I think the Old Republic Fleet circa the Great Galactic War was a pretty efficient fighting force as well, on par with the NR.

Do a video comparing and contrasting the New Republic military with the GAR
I've been looking at so many of your fleet videos to get a sense of scale (how many ships would be in the "First Fleet" for example) and have been re-watching the katana fleet, Fifth Fleet, Death Squadron, Solo Fleet, and How NOT to Rule a Galaxy (plus some of your battle breakdowns) and they've been super informative in visualizing my fleet for a Star Wars RP board i'm on :D This one just takes the cake. Good work as always fellow Justin.
That opening music is so relaxing.
And then the canon new republic did not learn their lessons of pass incursions and wars like the CIS and simply demilitarized.
And its almost like they just scraped all the imperial ships and weapons from the galactic warspoils

casbott They developed the Nebula Star Destroyer. It is basically the perfect capital ship.
@@martinjrgensen8234 I meant how did they retrofit the current stock of *_Imperial_* Star Destroyers they inherited.
casbott they really didn’t retrofit the ones they received that much. The tactics and logistics on HOW they used it changed. Unlike the empire, the NR used the ISD’s in their proper role, as a capital ship to ship combatant, not as a general purpose can solve anything ship. They supported it with escort frigates, a proper fighter Corp, etc
Took parts from here
And put it over there

Han Park it’s not that simple, but they did make slight modifications. But adding anything significant like 30 extra turbos or mon Cala shielding would require an extensive redesign of the entire superstructure and hypermatter reactor, because the standard ISD reactor would not be able to generate the amount of power needed for those modifications.
That was really interesting Eck, one of my recent favorite

I honestly liked the Venator because it was a flexible and cheap star destroyer, namely on its role as a carrier and capital ship
the Allegiance was a slightly better ISD with better weapon placement and point defense laser's alongside the Victory would be well supplemented
the munificent and Quasars are good ship's to have for support vesicles
Lukrehulk's and Providence's would be great planetary defense ship's
A combined fleet of Providences and Venators, boy that'd be glorious.
@@AnakinSkywakka also include some Munificent's and Acclimator's for a fast production and disposable fleet ship and Lukrehulk's for planetary defense and you got a winner
but the Quasar, Charger C70, Cr90, and Republic medical Frigate and Carrac class are more meant to harass opponent's in small number's
leon fierce at that point the Venator would be so outclassed by capital ships it’s size it wouldn’t be worth it to use as an all round general purpose ship. As a specialized fleet carrier maybe, but the Secutor and Endurance classes already filled that role and did it better.
@@nicholaswong6737 I honestly don't like the Endurance and Secutor class
the venator was an ingenious carrier in my opinion, and all the carrier's after were only playing for second place
also, it can't be that hard to modify it with modern star war's technology, replacing and rearranging some weapon's here and there
answer me this, if the Venator were brought back and modified to modern-day star wars technology with the same shield's as the Nebula and the same weapon's and weapon placement's, would it not, and be honest, be one of the best capital ship/carriers in your fleet, and if not, please explain why, I like the Venator because it was designed with rationally minded people that knew what they were doing and is in my heart, one of the best star wars carrier's in all of star wars
leon fierce here’s the problem: Power generation.
