Disney's new republic isn't even a republic, it's like if rebel alliance didn't take any action after the battle of Endor and just disbanded themselves.
The "canon" New Republic is super idiotic. They let an imperial military cult grow under their nose, building and plotting. Like the New Republic tolerated certain imperial groups but they made sure they weren't true threats. They went after Thrawn, the "canon" New Republic on the other hand more or less ignored the First Order.
Makes sense for the NR to use captured ISDs to compensate for their difficulties in building capital class starships due to their limited resources. It's highly likely these captured ISDs were crewed by Imperial defectors since they would know best how to operate them.
In Legends it would seem that the New Republic was pretty much the only saint government to ever live within the history of Star Wars, they indeed learn a lot from the mistakes of the Old Republic and the Clone Wars. They were the ones to truely give the Galaxy the peace and freedom they ever wanted. But than, Thrawn, the Dark Empire and the Vong had to fuck everything again. Guess nothing lasts forever.
Although they did a lot of damage and slowed down the transformation of the navy, the New Republic survived the Dark Empire and Thrawn. It was the Vong that truly ruined everything. And as Nathan puts it, everything went completely crazy with the second galactic civil war. Too crazy for me even, as I hated those events in the old canon, I think the writers really went too far by trying to top the Vong invasion (e.g. true danger to characters and general "edginess") with Darth Caedus, and it soured my relationship with the EU. Not definitively though, as I really enjoyed the Star Wars: Legacy comic series. :D
Thrawn and the Vong didn't do a thing. Thrawn knew that the Galaxy needed a strong decisive government to lead them against the Vong threat. Thus he did what he did. The Vong where successful only because the Republic let them be. The Republic's biggest dis advantage has always been week leadership.
The New Republic (in Legends) is honestly one of my most favorite Star Wars factions ever! And this video breaks down their facinating and cool Navy perfectly! :)
The Legends New Republic had to face multiple warlords, invasions, Thrawn, Dark Empire, and the Yuuzhan Vong, it took a civil war to take it out! What the actual NR did? 30 years of nothing, letting their enemies mend their wounds, and suddenly the new badies got a fucking armada of ships bigger than the Empire (for some reason) and surrender instantly. And this is why you don't go full reboot, also not full pacifist, mon Mothma (Mhotma? Motmha? I give up) wasn't dumb like that
It's actually pretty realistic all things considered. Look at how massive the US military became by the end of WWII, yet a few years after, it demilitarized by *a lot* because the expectation was that there would be no more major wars with the creation of the UN and such, but the start of the Cold War boiling over into the Korean War (where the North Korean threat also wasn't taken seriously at first until it was almost too late) is what kick-started rebuilding.
@@HalfDemonInuyasha The US did not demilitarize after WW2, they just evolve the technology over the years and no, not a lot of cut back, more like overspending. After WW2, the Soviet that occupied East Germany did not give back as promise by the allied agreement of leaving Germany to the new govt as a single country. Instead, they permanently took East Germany and include countries they so call liberate as their own puppet govt. The US and Europe won't happy, they may create UN but US and Europe create NATO to deal the communist expansion. The Korean war was really taken seriously when they found out that weapons and Mig planes supply by the Soviets and it was the American fear of Communities expansion prop them to join the conflict. Very interesting Video.
I learned a Lot. Thanks.
@EckheartsLadder Could you do a video on the MC80b line of cruiser? Also a video on the Agressor Class Star Destroyer would be great. Have a nice day!
Fantastic video a complete change
Great video would love a video like you did with Thrawn but on Yulaten Wolfe instead
New republic fleet (canon)
1st question, where the frack are they!?
2nd question WHERE THE FRACK ARE THEY!?!?
I thought this video was only going to last 30secs. Then I realised you were talking about the novels and not the resistance.
Just a legend
For the New Republic. 😉
I would like to see a Galactic Alliance navy video
Captain Shack VS Admiral Ecks!
(Either a Battle breakdown or a Battle in EAW)
Edit:Mods may be used
To make it better give shack the Rebels and eck the Empire
Shack would totally win!
@@raulbaez8526 Yeah, but Shack tends to get distracted a lot and misses things, most times he notices that he lost units way after they were killed and don't get me started with his resource management or complete disregard for Unit strenghts and weaknesses, he also tries to multitask more than he can handle.
Don't get me wrong, i love his content and enjoy every moment of it, since i can no longer play EaW because of some life circumstances.
@@xxvaltielxx1789 true and i totally agree. However if he didn't have to talk at the same time of playing he would when. Remember we are only watching him when he is multitasking.
I mean more than normal although if shack had to play against Corey he would probably lose
I kinda miss what happened in the Star wars universe after the legacy era.
I like to think that the new republic fleet in canon is just like this one with the addition of starhawks and MC85s aswell as the Rz-2 A wings, T-70 and T-85 X wing
I find it fascinating that the New Republic used Imperial Star Destroyers. How cool would it have been to see the Resistance have one in the new trilogy.
Can you do a battle breakdown for the Yuzhan Vong War's Second Battle of Coruscant.
Death Star vs Borg Cube PLEASE!
Could you do a vs episode on the Allegiance vs. the Resurgence?
can you do a bsg battle of new caprica. made no sense to sacrifice Pegasus but still one of my favorite battles in sci fi
Do a Battle Breakdown of the Yuuzhan Vong heading to the Fluidic Space to fight Species 8472. Do it now!
Can you do the Corellian crisis of 18 ABY? If you ever cover the LOTF era I think it's important to cover the predecessor Corellian crisis
Do a video on the impellor class fleet carrier
Hey Ecks, was there a Twitch only stream for Empire at War or did you not have the time for it?
Do a Yuuzhan Vong invasion of Fluidic Space and war against Species 8472! 54th try.
Notification Squadron.
Also, the Endurance and the Nebula-Class Star Destroyers are the strongest Star Destroyer we currently know of.
Not counting the Imperium class Ultra SD.
Can't wait for the vong series. Haha
Need more info on new republic stuff. Land troops and imsges, organisation of the other military branches the works!
Good Video
Is the NR losing Borsk Fey'lya really a deterrent though?
How about doing this for the imperial Remnant Navy, Imperial Remnant Army and the New Republic army
During... pretty sure almost all the Rebel/New Republic SDs were taken after the Endor battle. Around either Death Star battle they were nowhere near capable of taking a whole SD and the garrison within without them activating it's Self Destruct with only the tiniest handful of exceptions since they was STILL the ragtag Rebels back at that battle period.
Two or three at Endor, yeah. And several more in the three years following.
Any chance we could get a video on gears of war stuff?
can you do a video on the battle of mindor?
Can you do a video on the Galactic Alliance?
With the Yuu Zahn Vong can you give the titles of the books they are in call the series that feature the Yuu Zahn Vong
New Jedi Order
EckhartsLadder Kiora from New Zealand and thank you
UNSC (pre war) vs Cylon (second war)
Could u do a break down of thrawn vs wedge in the dark fleet rising series
Wedge is my 2nd favorite non Jedi human in EU canon
I know they should've been making the new republic & it's navy HUGE & WELL EQUIPPED!!! (like how the ESD from Independence Day Resurgence was)
