This station has a container yard, oil stores and a Chemical Terminal. Since the Takasaki Line is electrified, electric locomotives and electric trains run. The container yard is not electrified. So freight trains change locomotives and enter non-electrified routes.

I observed a number of railway personnel riding on a footplate outside the locomotive from place to place. It would be a lot safer to walk along the tracks between the points involved. E.g. at 2:40 a worker is seen before mounting the locomotive and going somewhere. At approx. 6:00 same locomotive comes back with same worker (having changed ends) outside the loco. He could have waited on the platform, observing the activities he would be involved in from the safety of the station platform, then enter the work area via the gate prominent in the foreground. There are also similar instances of that method of working in the freight area .
Railroad personnel use transceiver and flags to guide locomotives. This railroad personnel will instruct the locomotive driver where to stop. It's a tough job with many dangers.

倉賀野駅貨物基地のさらに東側には旧陸軍岩鼻火薬製造所があり、製造弾薬の鉄道輸送を企図し
倉賀野駅での省線との連絡輸送目的に岩鼻軽便鉄道が敷設されたが、終戦により火薬製造所とともに役目を終えたる。
戦後国鉄は倉賀野駅周辺を一大物流ターミナルとすべくオイルターミナル、セメントターミナル、自動車基地、資料基地を設置。
これが現在の倉賀野駅貨物基地の原型となるが、各拠点に向けた専用線とし岩鼻軽便鉄道跡を転用した。
（正確には亜細亜石油、現ENEOSが昭和35年に専用線に転用したのが最初）
国鉄による貨物拠点化に呼応した地元高崎市が周辺を工業団地に整備し、旧岩鼻軽便の専用線からは誘致工場の専用線がさらに分岐、
加えてキリンビール、専売公社（現JT）の工場が専用線を併設する形で倉賀野駅北側に進出した。
結果、北隣の高崎操車場、高崎第二機関区（現JR貨物高崎機関区）、高崎第一機関区（現JR東日本ぐんま車両センター）、日本製粉高崎工場、高崎客車区、
そして群馬県の一大ターミナル高崎、さらには上越線沿線に立地した日清製粉高崎工場へと至るまで延々と専用線、引込線が続く光景となった。
時代は下り、昭和59年のヤード輸送廃止に伴う高崎操車場の機能大幅縮小を皮切りに車扱い中心の専用貨物輸送の見直しが進み、
平成初期にかけオイルターミナルとコンテナ基地を除き倉賀野の物資ターミナル機能も順次廃止。
これに伴いセメントターミナル、飼料基地に隣接する太平洋セメント、日本ケロッグの各工場もトラック輸送にシフトし専用線の廃止が2000年までに相次ぎ、
2001年にはキリンビール、2005年にはJTがそれぞれ工場自体の操業を停止。
日清製粉高崎工場は昭和60年に操業停止し今ではマンションに、平成初期に貨物輸送を終了していた日本製粉も2012年には高崎から撤退し跡地は高崎アリーナとなった。
ちなみに、岩鼻火薬製造所跡地には量子科学技術研究開発機構（旧原子力研究所）、日本化薬高崎工場が立地するほか、明治百年事業として公園整備された群馬の森がある。

操車場の方は長岡方面に行く貨物列車は機関車の交換を行っていると思いますが、あれも見てて飽きないですね😄
高崎操車場も面白いですよね。高崎や倉賀野周辺は要衝・結節点でもあり、大きな鉄道施設があって見応えがあります

ああ、そういえば17号の下に貨物基地ありましたね。暗かったので素通りしてしまいましたが、こんな面白いことになっているとは。
倉賀野てすか高崎機関区におじゃみして、EF５５やDD５１外見せてもらい高ニはヤード外よりEF６５の茶色、EH２００に初めてお目にかかりました、流石高ニELがウヨウヨ沢山撮れてから倉賀野へ移動、貨物駅の引き込み線の知識が無くホームから貨物列車他撮るました、
説明わかりやすかったです。貨物列車のだいじさがよくわかりました。

平日に撮影しました。石油貨物列車は、土日運休が多いようです。夏季は暖房需要(石油製品の需要)も少なく、長編成のタキは見れないかもしれません…
