What if Super Mario Advance 5 - Super Mario Bros. existed for Gameboy Advance? - 2022 concept

- Опубликовано: 10 июл 2022
- On July 11, 19 years ago, 'Super Mario Advance 4 - Super Mario Bros. 3' was released for the Gameboy Advance in Japan. It was the last title in the 'Advance' series. With that, there was a theory of what the sequel would be if it continued. Many thought it would be the first 'Super Mario Bros.'. But Super Mario Bros. Deluxe is 'Super Mario Advance 0'. In case you didn't know, the first Super Mario Advance would be called Super Mario Bros. 2 Deluxe, but a while later the name was changed. There are still lines from Charles Martinet and the voice actors of Peach and Toad pronouncing "Super Mario Brothers 2 Deluxe". More information on The Cutting Room Floor website.
This concept I plan to continue in the future (very late future), it will be a fangame in honor of Super Mario Advance for Gameboy Advance.
There have been drafts of this concept for a long time. And 10 days ago I decided to put it into practice and leave a concept ready to start development faster.
As for Kiddy Kong Show Time and Kiddy Kong's Challenge, don't worry they are still in development.

I'm suddenly transported to a parallel dimension where this is real, outstanding job. The SMA ports were childhood staples and my main introduction to the 2D Mario classics so I totally approve this. It's essentially SMB Deluxe for the GBA with all those little extra bits like the intro cutscene and World Map. Hope you can do more of these soon.
Yeah, this is what i feel for an sprite trailer becoming an actual playable fangame.
Dude that intro seems so official, I was always a big fan of the intros in the Advance games and you got that vibe down perfectly!
It's always good to keep the official essence of what the official Super Mario Advance games were like Thank you so much!!
This feels so real. Right down to clicking the multiplayer button and hearing the sound repeatedly.

@@orsonzedd Maybe you could unlock Toad after finishing the first castle, and Peach after beating the game.

Nice idea
This was so cool! It makes it feel real as if it was an actual game Nintendo made. The addition of the E-Reader levels were awesome, along with the game opening cutscene.
This is because of the essence, which is a very important detail when creating a fan game for a series that already exists
@@nimaginendogames2293 Very good!
Hopes for an public release...🙏
@@IvanFranco120 it might be private since Nintendo might find out and give a cease and desist
@@smartass643 Release it to Mario Fan Games Galaxy and it'll be fine
Warp Zones instead being secret exits, and the pipes being on the world map is actually a really nice quality of life improvement. Surprised no other fan remakes of SMB1 do that.
Bcause they are meant to be secret. Everyone knows them now, but still. If the pipes are already visible on the map, those just attracts players to find and use those rather than going the normal way. Pipes could appear when the player actually finds the warp zone.
I’m awed by the decision to use sprites from Super Mario BS Collection for the World Map. The recreation/mockup for this is phenomenal.
I had to follow a logic to make that decision
god i'm crying so many tears from this, you have no idea how much i wanted this to be real. every few years a youtuber reminds me that nintendo could've done this and always hate how they never take it anywhere
RUclips does what nintendon’t
Soon I will make a version of Super Mario All-Stars for the GBA (in animation) to celebrate the 30th anniversary of its release in Japan. Subscribe to the channel! I'm also almost finished my Kiddy Kong fan game with lots of references to Rare's DKC.
@@nimaginendogames2293 Since DKC3's actually my favorite in the trilogy, I'm very much looking forward to what you're doing.
Unless you count the 4 times they took it somewhere.
lmaoo
genuinely impressed how you all perfected the style of these remakes, down to the weirder pitch of the music they go with. Very interested to see where this goes.
I love the choice of music for the title screen, really makes it feel like "This is it, this is the last Mario Advance we're making."
Release:
JP: November 15 2004
USA: January 11 2005
PAL: April 8 2005
This is really good, I love the music composition and animation for the opening just feels accurate
Nice! But I think the copyright text on the title screen should say 2001-2004, as if this was released in early-mid 2004. It would give Nintendo time to work on this game. Also, the SMB title screen and world level select music should both be in C major instead of Bb and C# respectively, since that was the key of the originals. But other than that, you did so amazing that you’ve earned yourself a sub! 8/10
The reason why we never got Super Mario Advance 5 is that we got "Super Mario Bros. Deluxe" for Gameboy Color. This is supported by the fact that in the game files of Super Mario Advance 1 there is speech that says: "Super Mario Bros. Deluxe 2" and "Super Mario Bros. 2 Deluxe"
This looks and sounds so authentic it's scary. Even the music tracks recycled from games past exhibit slight variance in pitch, something I had noticed in Nintendo's Advance remakes of any of their titles. Excellent work.
It was made with a lot of love and respect for the fans, I kept the essence of that Nintendo from years ago. When you respect the essence of something it remains the way it was
This was literally the only title missing from the advanced series. It would’ve been so cool if a 5th advanced actually happened
It baffles me why they didn't even start out with this, let alone make it at all
Super Mario advance 6 super Mario Land 2 6 golden coins
Super Mario advance 7 super Mario Land
Super Mario advance 8 super Mario All-Stars plus super Mario advance 2 super Mario world
@@HurricanePatrick because super mario bros deluxe existed
Mario Deluxe indeed exists, and the screen size is shit. Why anyone would play that version is beyond me, which just makes the fact this didn’t happen stranger.
@@Gordonjamesheneryproductions why would they make an advance version of an advance version
6:24 this sound more heroic than the snes version. Nintendo should hire you, you've got a lot of time on your hands
Dude, if you really do make this, you will have my undying respect. And bonus points if you’re able to make it a gba rom!
In all seriousness, good luck with this, I’m sure it’ll be fantastic!

Also where the hell is super Mario advance 6 the lost levels
I really like how well done this is, but I can only imagine if we DID get this game, it would have included the content from GBC's Super Mario Bros. Deluxe, honestly, it would've made for the definitive SMB experience, I still hope for SMBDX to be remade in some capacity.
4:19 I like how Mario do SMB3's Starman Spin Jump at the End here
This just blows my mind in how much it feels like authentic gameplay. Great work on the concept video!
Thanks!!
Congratulations! This video now reached 100,000 views!
This is very well done!
If this will ever release as a fangame, I will play the heck out of it.
It only has one flaw, the map theme. It's a bit low pitched for a SMA game.
4:28 "Perect"!
Holy crap, this, right here, was made out of love. I hope for the best.
I made this work keeping the essence of what I saw in classic games

new super mario bros would make more sense for super mario advance 5
@@SagyTity1 How? It's not even a remake
@@wariowarecomixwell it was meant to be a successor to the series, and it would’ve been original instead of a remake.
I love it. I've recently imagined what SMB in the advance series would look like & this is spot on. Though I doubt Nintendo would've done it if this did exist, I'd love to see more Deluxe elements like the world map design, Multiplayer, & the Lost Levels as bonus.
I will dedicate 10% of my time to develop more things in this concept.
I intend to make it as faithful as possible because the important thing for a developers who is creating fangames in homage to a classic is the essence. I kept the essence of what I felt watching the original games.
@@nimaginendogames2293 I still feel the story lacks proper detail. For one thing, although Kamek uses black magic, the instruction manual specifies that Bowser turned all the Mushroom People into cursed objects by himself. Also, you didn't get to show Peach having white magic meant to undo Bowser's curse; even Super Mario Stardust, a fangame released in 2007 shows that important detail about Peach's magic, before she was carried away by Bowser, in less than 20 seconds, no doubt.
Lastly, and this is just something to think about: Donkey Kong '94 (a Game Boy game) shows that Mario has already ended up in the Mushroom Kingdom prior to the events of Super Mario Bros., meaning the events of Mario Bros. is likely telling that Peach summoned the Marios to clean the sewers, and Bowser is the one behind the Shellcreepers that attack the sewers (which makes sense when you realize Bowser's earlier name in production was "Boss Creeper", and why Bowser appeared in Battle Mode for the Mario Bros. remakes), so it makes sense that "Mario heard the plight of the Mushroom Kingdom", because word spread out to even the sewer system.
Words cannot describe how much i love this! I LOVE the Super Mario Advance games and it's great to see people still giving attention to them. Seriously man, this needs to become an actual game!
Beautiful concept you have done
I am absolutely staggered this isnt a purpose-made Rom Hack but instead a concept animation.
Read the description, the author said he wanted to turn it into a fangame
The world map music gives me an insane amount of nostalgia for something I never played and has been stuck in my head for over a week
Its an recreation of SMB3 map, but with SMB1 graphics...
The map is based on the BS Mario Collection version of SMAS SMB1. In this version the game contains maps. To date these games have not been found so only recordings of it exist.
This looks fantastic! Keep up the excellent work.
I really love this concept for a video. This is so well done and hit me with so much nostalgia for the SMA line of games. I feel like I'm living in an alternate universe.
Made with a lot of love and respect for the fans, I kept the essence of that Nintendo from years ago. When you respect the essence of something it remains the way it was
bro although this game has not come out for some reason it brings me a lot of nostalgia you are the best
SMA2, SMA4 and to a lesser extent SMA1 were staples of my childhood. You perfectly capture the vibe of the intro cutscenes, specifically the music and sound effects. I always wondered why they chose to port Yoshi's Island instead of SMB1 and this has me wondering even more.
Made with love and care for the series. I kept the respect and essence of how it was and also what I felt when I played the 4 games in childhood
I have wanted this to be a reality since I was a kid, thank you for making that dream come true! Stellar job all around, from the sound to the little intro and the little details, this looks legit!!
The power to keep the essence in games makes it feel like something original. The Nintendo RD2 is in our hearts forever.
Great idea! 2 player mode should be an active choice like in SMA4, and there should be a few more new add ons
Wow Super Mario Advance 5!!!!??? A fangame that could be another childhood!!!
Agree, it was a childhood that I wanted back in the day.
AMAZING! Please keep working on this. It will be great! If you could include the content from Super Mario DX, that would make this the ULTIMATE version of Super Mario Bros.! (You VS. Boo, Super Mario for Super Players - aka - "The Lost Levels", the Vs. Mode, and the Challenge Mode with the red coins and Yoshi Eggs.)
That will be awesome to include those! =)
You deserve more subs and likes and views, this is some high effort stuff right here
Will this game ever have a rom?
We absolutely should have had this, and I love to see such an authentic fangame for it being worked on!
Really, all it'd need is the more niche SMB DX features like You VS Boo, the fortune teller thing, all the various other smaller modes and I'd call this the definitive release of SMB.
1:22 also makes me oddly emotional, somehow an even more somber version of the Super Mario Collection/SMAS Super Mario Bros 2 title theme, yet at the same time calm.
This needs to be more than just a fan game, this need to be a homebrew game, seeing this on a _real GBA_ would be amazing!!!
This is so amazing that I’ll sub!!!!
Y’know imagine if Mario Advance 5 was a new game entirely.
Remember Super Mario Bros. Special, the PC version with its own levels and Power-Ups? Now imagine if they remade it for the E-Reader world.
Things is Missing :
1 : in this Concept Mario Didn't Say "That what I needed" when he got a Power Up, "Gotcha!" When he got Another Power Up and "Lucky!" when he got a 1 UP
2 : Mario & Luigi says "Super Mario Brothers" instead of just "Super Mario" like the other games in the series (Super Mario Advance)
3 . WHY YOU STILL CAN'T GO BACKWARDS ?!?!!?!?!!!?!?!?!!
4 . The clouds colors are bit off because they not mixed (The Face is lighter then the other)
5 . The lines on the World Map are bit off I mean in the Start Circle, Pipes & Toad Houses
6 . Normally Mario Don't get a Invincibility frames when he get a Power Up
7 . The "1 UP" Word should be Bigger like the Other Games
8 . The Star here is Longer than the Original
1. the game is in very early development
2. it would be interesting for something more than just that
3. because it's an remake
5. that's how sma4 had its path, for example the down path was off so mario just walked on the left
6. it's an modern remake. the game was released in 2003.
(skipping those that are probably just bugs)
This looks soooo good!! We just need the voice clips but other than that it’s amazing! 🎉
What if Super Mario Advance 6 - Super Mario Bros The lost Levels existed for Gameboy Advance concept
3:31 Cool
You added the Checkpoint Effect from New Super Mario Bros here
I’d swear this game actually came out all those years ago for the GBA.
Missing: Charles Martinet samples for Mario and Luigi, like: "Haha... Just what I needed" (Mushroom catched), "Gotcha" (Flower Catched), "Lucky" (1-up Mushroom catched) and "Bravo" (1-up at collecting 100 coins and/or bashing more than 8 enemies)
I'm updating the game. In the newer videos you can hear the voices and new things that the old videos didn't show.
Such a great work here! Can't wait to see the full game
Imagine Nintendo releases this on Gameboy Advance in Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack l
This is a pretty cool concept! Admittedly I never thought about this as a kid since I figured Mario Bros DX took care of Mario 1. I still love DX, I just wish we could remove the screen crunch nowadays.
Includes lost levels?
Nice concept, interesting for sure, anyways, keep it up!
This is amazing! The use of the Super Mario Advance 4 e-Reader Classic World 1 level over-world theme is genius!
A concept to plan for a fangame? Neat!
This looks so real! Good job!
If SMA5 happened, I am inclined to believe it would have been Super Mario Bros AND Super Mario Bros The Lost Levels, including several additions from Super Mario Bros Deluxe. Making it the MOST definite version of SMB by all means. In any case, it's a big shame that we didn't get the remastered version of Super Mario Bros at all on this platform. We got the Classic NES version instead.
I wish we got this in 2004.
Wow! Amazing job! You definitely deserve a subscription for that! I wish that Nintendo had actually released something like this...
I'm also almost finished my Kiddy Kong game with lots of references to Rare's DKC. Soon in 2023 I will make an animation showing what Super Mario All-Stars would look like on Gameboy Advance.
This is looking so cool!
Nice work !
Fun Fact: We did get a Super Mario Advance 5 in the form of New Super Mario Bros. on the DS since Super Mario Advance 5 was it's name in very early development
WOOOAH, THAT'S REALLY GOOD!!!
Seems like I come back to this video every 4 months, crying every time I remember this isn't real
this looks amazing man
I love this so much. It feels like you took this footage from a different timeline where this game was actually real.
Thanks! That's what happens when you keep the essence of something
This is just absolutely awesome!
When I was around 18, I had this silly idea to try and actually build a Mario Advance 5 GBA ROM. I thought it would be as easy as separating SMB from an All Stars SNES ROM, converting it to a GBA ROM, then writing it over the main game in a SMA ROM. I had also designed menus and everything in Photoshop. The only problem was…I don’t know s*** about coding.
Though maybe if I find someone who does, I’d love to work with them on one for real, maybe with Lost Levels or something.
By the way, this looks incredible! I will 100% play this when it’s out!
Now that's a clever intro, the original plot of SMB adapted to modern standards.
It coincided a bit with the Mario movie
Holy shit you used BS Super Mario Collection for the world map, that's genius. I thought you'd use the world map from SMB Deluxe since that's more well known, but since SMA1: SMB2 took quite a few ideas from BS Super Mario USA it makes a lot of sense for this game to use some things from it's satellaview counterpart as well!
Slowly, but I am.
I think this is gorgeous. Some of the music choices and pitchings are a bit strange but this project looks beautiful.
Some distorted pitches were normal in Super Mario Advance. This main theme music was even made by Nintendo in the special levels of Super Mario Advance 4. Still, I will correct the music's pitch in future updates. In others I will keep it to leave the same charm.
I look forward to playing your game this is real exciting to see the mario advance 5 game coming up in a few years keep going on it. Best regards Nikita.K
toadhouse: different than ones from mario forever
what an incredible video , have a great friday and a great weekend hugs
1:00 MARIO, BOWSER IS RIGHT BESIDE YOU! JUST TAKE PEACH!
Since this story is the beginning of everything, Mario and Luigi were trying to understand what was going on there. As soon as he understands Mario and Luigi starts running after Bowser.
I'm surprised the map wasn't based on Deluxe
I saw that this style of map existed in an exclusive game for Super Famicom, BS Mario Collection so I decided to add it
I went and checked myself. Yep, definitely based on that. I didn't even know that existed til now. Pretty cool
this looks genuinely amazing
This feels more authentic than I think it should be.
I wonder if it also includes the Lost Levels
Dude this is freaking awesome
Amazing what could’ve been! Thanks for making this into reality!
Nintendo of course did port the NES original in 2004 to the GameBoy Advance...that being said this looks really good
Loved the intro song
WHEN DO YOU WANT TO PUBLISH IT? LOOKS GREAT!
You've instilled a weird sense of familiarity in me with this - although I can't remember if it was a dream I had, or if it was just something I was thinking about. Probably the latter.
One thing I wonder - is this actually playable via an emulator/real hardware or is this just a very well-edited video seeing as this is merely a concept? Just curious as this is INCREDIBLY convincing.
It is a fan game that is running on a PC. I created this concept in just 10 days.
The musics were helped by a composer friend who had already composed some when this concept was just in my head. I edited some with cutouts to fit the scenes correctly
I was also the one who modified the sound quality so that the audio reproduced something similar to that of GBA
Those games were my childhood, this is awesome!
I imagine that exiting that yellow pipe at the start is what happens after the end of Mario Bros. Arcade.
This genuinely looks like something that could have actually existed, kinda makes me sad that it doesn't. Nice work.
Holy shit! This is way beyond good!
I actually had a thought about that one as a kid. This would have been epic
omg this looks fantastic, Are you going to also add the worlds from Super Mario Bros special? And the lost levels?
No plans! But I'm thinking of getting new ones
I can imagine the Lost Levels as an extra stage set after beating the main game like Deluxe on GBC
This is Amazing! Just one flaw the world map should have been like smb deluxe's
After SMA4: SMB3 released in 2003, Nintendo planned Super Mario Advance 5: Super Mario Bros. + The Lost Levels for GBA in 2005 (due to SMB's 20th Anniversary), that's never released.
Nintendo EAD originally make SMA5: SMB + TLL for GBA, development is cancelled, due to EAD focused on NSMB for DS in development in 2004 and released in 2006.
Why Font uses SMA4 is instead of SMB1 Font from SMAS.
Points (e.g. 100, 200) and 1UP don't have Growing Effect, in SMA2 and SMA4 had Growing Effect.
what a nice reimagining, it really looks like something authentic
