Yeah... HAPPY "APRIL FOOLS"!
It's not official... but I didn't miss the opportunity to make this version of the classics in the Game Boy Color style. See you soon!
I would have had an SMB5 Deluxe - Yoshi's Island but I didn't have time to finish it or even start so I just made these 3. I recreated almost all the sound effects and even redid some musics. Others are from the VG Music website.
I analyzed every detail that Nintendo R&D2 made for the first game and tried to adapt it as it would if it had continued on the Game Boy Color.
Follow the "Nimaginendo Games" channel, here I do many recreations of other Mario and friends games, as well as fan games inspired by the 80s and 90s.

Despite being April Fools, I really like the concept and I like how Super Mario World is called Super Mario Bros 4 like before and even called Deluxe, despite being a Demake
Some changes I made on purpose, since apparently Super Mario Bros. Deluxe was made from scratch without using codes from the NES version. It's the only Nintendo R&D2 game that I don't see using. Thanks!!
Technically, "Super Mario World" was already considered "Super Mario Bros. 4" in Japan; this was the subtitle that tells you as such.

Those NES song recreations sort of feel like uncanny valley territory
They're just accurate enough, but you can feel something is wrong (I'm familiarized enough with the tunes to notice the differences lol)

Had SMBs. DX saw release on GBC in 1998, we would've seen SMB2 DX release in 1999, and SMB3 DX release in 2000! A great 8-bit remastered remake trilogy for the GBC!

I recreated all the sounds by listening to them in a low tone. Here's a tip! Listen to each note of the sound effect in a low tone and then adjust it to the right tone. This will be the result! It will have the same grades and will look the same. I used the Mario and Luigi sprite for SMW from Super Mario Land 2 and the Luigi sprite from SMB2 + SMA2. Some of the musics are from the VG Music website and others I remade myself.
@@nimaginendogames2293 You just a genius, is a good tip for make a good 8bit version of the SMW ost, have sense that you used SML2 sprite for Mario as reference since that sprite is similar to the SMW one :) .

FACTS
The Mario Brothers 3 one looks a lot better than this Mario 3 special one.
This feels like these should be real roms. Mario World, Mario Bros 2 American version, and Mario Bros 3 would be very different on a Gameboy Color era screen, and probably harder too. The Lost Levels in Super Mario Bros Deluxe is pretty hard because of the screen crunch(small screen)

Now I need to see a full GBC game of Super Mario World like this! I’ve always been fascinated with the idea of playing that game with 8bit visuals and sounds and seeing this video just made me want to see more of it!

This looks amazing and the musics are so cool. If Super Mario Bros 2 Deluxe is for Game Boy Color, it will calling Super Mario USA Deluxe in Japan.
I'd unironically enjoy this more than the GBA versions even if I think they're infinitely better than their All-Stars/(S)NES counterparts
If Nintendo can make games like Warrio land and Shantae for Gameboy colour then they could of easily done this if they tried 🙏🏽

In an alternate universe, Super Mario Advance is a completely original game but Super Mario Bros. 2 & 3 are added to the NES Classic collection while Super Mario World and Yoshi’s Island are a 2-in-1 cartridge.

But in all seriousness, this kind of proof of concept is great to just see on its own and doesn't need games. I'd certainly love for simultaneous co-op of SMB2, 3 and (a more proper attempt at) World someday for the originals. So far, only SMB1 got that treatment justice.
Also, you could just go ahead and release these bangers on your channel. Would love to hear all these Game Boy renditions in full.

In this case it was easier than creating games, since it is an animation and compared to fan games, the movement is more basic here. The most difficult part was recreating the musics, creating a new one, and also recreating the sounds and sprites.

This is pretty neat. I'd love to see full-length versions of these classic games in this style for sure! Not sure I'd prefer it to the Advance series if Nintendo went this route, but it is interesting to see how they could have worked in the Super Mario Bros Deluxe style nonetheless.

There's something about the color palette of the GB Color that I absolutely love. And I didn't even grow up on it!
There's a typo for SMW, it says "Original 1980", instead of "Original 1990".
The sprite still counts as 1990 but I forgot to update the tile behind it. So it's 1980 but you can see that it has an orange '9'.

These are some fantastic mockups, and I wish they were real ports, but the rendition of Mario World's ground theme sounds...rough.
It was incredible ! It's as if there was an alternative reality in which Mario 2, 3 and World had a port for GBC, it would be like this in the video.
Stay tuned to the channel because I also make game projects reimagining what they would have been like if they had been released in the past. I've already made 3 alternative versions of "Super Mario Bros. Wonder". Just one close to completion.
I really wished that Nintendo made The super mario trilogy remake for the gameboy color. I would've loved to see what would've been changed.

I have a theory that initially, Super Mario Land 2 would be a demake of Super Mario World for the Game Boy, which didn't go ahead and ended up being a new game.

@@jamesrgamesoffical It's because the Mario's sprite is similar to the one in Super Mario World, and it has a spring that is the same as the one in SMW but is not being used in the game. But officially, it's a game that takes place after SMW (technically a "Super Mario World 2" if we stop to think about it)

I am surprised to see this great work, if Nintendo were thinking about this Game Boy Color technology, we could have seen these games although independently, if Donkey Kong Country proves to be more complete, that of the Snes, these games could also be so to me It is surprising to hear the music in this style, it is perfect

The Super Mario World music is beautiful
I chose "BS Mario Collection" for the maps because Nintendo R&D2 took the ideas from "BS Super Mario USA" and put them in the first game in the "Advance" series. So I followed this logic and chose this game to place the map graphics. As the first part of the "BS Super Mario Collection" is considered very rare, few people know the map model. Are more familiar with SMB Deluxe

There actually is a game boy version of mario bros 3, it's a bootleg called super mario bros 3 special (there's also this one demake of smw on game boy that is extremely unfinished, but it sure exists)

Great suggestion! SMB Deluxe was released towards the end of the GBC's life, and was only there while they were creating the GBA. SMB Deluxe on the GBA would have the same strong brightness as the first game in the Advance series.

You could not see much ahead of you in the level, and the game cartriges have a certain amount of storage. That's why Nintendo wouldn't make them.
