Parenti is a living legend. Unfortunately, he is not very active nowadays owing to his mature age. But the man simply digested Marx and Lenin and literally explained everything in terms of Marxism-Leninism. And his works actually objectively prove how correct Marx or Engels or Lenin was. The data he managed to access is superb.
And the language he uses is for all.
Matter of fact, I got more clarity on Imperialism from reading Parenti than Imperialist, the Highest Stage of Capitalism.
And man, he is a lifelong fighter.
A real damn human being.

I'm trying to carve out the time in my schedule to do more. I was running an art center in ketucky where I taught animation/painting for free and it's closing this month. I'm a freelance artist and try to keep my commission prices affordable for working class ppl, so I do a high volume of commissions every year. I do plan on do lots more.

Super video. So cool you guys are from Alabama. My mom's family is from there. I believe that working class Southerners are full of socialist/Marxist potential. It's there. We just have find a way to pull it out into the open.
I tell ppl all the time that if you take out the culture war signifiers that ppl have been conditioned to respond to, a lot of dispossessed ppl believe in similar material policies; labor unions to fight international capital; worker protections; and some kind of healthcare alternative to insurance middle-man robbery. it's just hard to survive down here and have the spare resources to organize. just got to make it yr life. learn how to communicate/share/organize.

He keeps on referring to the so-called National Debt being “our” debt and that “we” have to pay the interest on it. But it is not our debt, something the working class owes. It is the debt of the capitalist state. Its function, within the capitalist economy, is to cover government spending which would otherwise have to be covered by higher taxation. Parenti seems to imply that it could be covered by the government simply creating more money. The government could do this - and governments have - but this doesn’t create any new wealth. If overdone it depreciates the unit in which wealth is expressed (inflation) and so causes a rise in the general price level. Which, if tax thresholds remain the same, amounts to an increase in taxation.

War loot is NOT "national debt". It is depressingly horrific to hear and listen to Parenti-caliber intellectual not being able to understand this simple but fundamental difference.
What if it is impssoble to see this fact from the inside of the belly of the beast.
Really, really horrifingly crippling depressing reality.
