- While scouring the sewers of New York, Nick Tatopoulos discovers one of Godzilla's eggs has survived. The hatchling that emerges escapes and by the time the team finds him again he has grown into a massive adult. Godzilla recognizes Nick's scent and imprints on him as his parent. As the team tries to study the new Godzilla, the U.S. military, responding to a series of disappearances in Jamaica, attack and seemingly kill Godzilla.

There’s something about the subtleties of this art style and less fancy animation that is super appealing and kind of nostalgic. And the writing of this really stands up for a kids show follow up to the 1998 Godzilla. It might be better that they were forced to go in this direction instead of more movies in the same verse.
What a fantastic way to have a sequel
Think of this series as an apology from that terrible movie. This show is so much better.

zilla jr is so underated
This is one of my favorite episodes. The other is the one where Godzilla has a girlfriend, Komodithrax. I love the interaction between Godzilla and Nick. I kno he's a huge lizard but he's cute when he scratches at the door, it's like he's sayn, "come back dad."

The first minute is very different to how the events happened in the movie 😮
Shows the movie was half fast into cinemas with under developed characters.
The characters are different too. Nick is much more headstrong and confident and Audrey is more of the ravenous reporter she actually wanted to be.
Plus that taxi wasn’t a Chevy impala.
I love this studio’s art style.

A part of me wishes that Nick was voiced by the actor that played him in the film
The fact the original art composers who worked on Men in Black TAS also worked on Godzilla TAS is unbelievably incredible. Now the music composer for Godzilla TAS was none other than Jim Latham, who by the way was a big fan of Gargoyles TAS, wanted to incorporate the trumpet 🎺 sound with a futuristic upbeat tempo. And thus Godzilla TAS thematic opening was born.

It's implied it mutated more next to the electric cables by its egg (aka cartoon plot logic), faster growth cycle, as well as it having the atomic breath that its parent lacked.

@jonahmoran3751 this was the 90's, writers expected us to accept the most ridiculous things as the cause of other things, tell me one show on FOX Kids at the time that didn't have flawed logic like that but we accepted it because the writers knew we weren't gonna question it at the time.
This series is a gem. Love its science and actions even as adult now. It would have great if the recent movies were based on this series. Because the story and plots are more accurate than Monsterverse fantasy.
