    Great content. I have one criticism: the title of the podcast ought to give a hint of what the theme is in the talk and perhaps should also be accompanied with a brief summary of the main points in order to encourage as many people as possible to take the trouble to listen.

    What I remember from the 60s and 70s movies (it's been so long ago) were the depictions of the white heroes standing up for African American freedom fighters. Of course, the white male had to become the savior, the Christ-like figure.

  • @e.y.4710
    @e.y.4710 2 года назад +20

    Very relevant for these times. Seems like every movie and show is obsessed with showing POC characters that get mutilated and humiliated constantly. Invincible, Suicide Squad, Fear the Walking Dead, Rick and Morty, Them etc..Just finished Dune and wasn't surprised who was the "Mahdi's" first kill/sacrifice.

    • @ponguso1
      @ponguso1 2 года назад +1

      to be fair to dune, it was written in the 60s and if you havent read the books the impression from part 1 can seem like another white savior story from the 60s. But when part 2 comes im sure itll clear some stuff up lol

    • @LeoMes01
      @LeoMes01 2 года назад +2

      Invincible why is that ?

    • @theswagman1263
      @theswagman1263 2 года назад +1

      the actual novel dune is pretty much a deconstruction of the white saviour trope and the idea of a strong leader being the key to fixing civilisation, but that's just not clear so early on since the movie is just the first half of the first book. it'll get better in part 2

      I'm a man of "The Right" but now have some regret. I find myself agreeing with Parenti for the "wrong" reasons. Someone like "Mayor Pete" would not be appointed to run a government agency in a Marxist society. He's a phony/fraud, who attempts to pander to POCs, through DEI hirings.
