    I can create way more of these if I wasn't nickle-and-diming illustration and animation commissions ten hour a day to survive in Alabama. if enough ppl join my patreon, I could animate lectures by folks like michael parenti seven days a week.

      currently working on another one, myth of prosperity. clip from another michael parenti lecture. 8 minutes, abt 15,000 frames of animation. it's gonna be v v cool. would work on them all the time if I could afford to, but it's tedious to draw everything. love doing it though. michael parenti needs to be heard, seen, and contextualized for different ppl. animation is a fun way to do my part.

    Congratulations. Great illustrations!
    Here are a few corrections on spelling:
    (0:57, 2:06) consistent
    (1:39) undermine
    (2:23) accumulated
    (2:44) 'whereas' is one word, not two
    Also, at 8:12, it's George W. Bush whom he's referring to for mispronouncing words (as I've heard Parenti do in other talks as well) -- not Trump. This talk was from 2011, before Trump's entry into politics. (Of course, you may already know this but included Trump anyway to make it more relevant to viewers in the present).

    • @TSALCOLLECTIVE
      @TSALCOLLECTIVE  Год назад +11

      I knew it was bush he was talking abt, but since I included him in the rich ppl part, thought I'd draw trump. media frames it the same way under binary politics. dumb man warmonger cut taxes for rich vs. etiquette and merit candidate that says the right things while also doing same policies. I'll correct the spelling at some future point when I piece all these together. appreciate the heads up.

      I use the 2d animation portion of blender and gimp for certain parallax animation stuff when I'm creating images as planes. I use and promote open source software. I had an art center I opened in dawson springs last year where I taught kids for free. I try to emphasize to my students and just artists in general; learn to use open source software. even if the threshold for entry is a steep learning curve. it's more equitable for ppl trying to learn or teach themselves something. I never went to school for art, etc. always created a lot of stuff and kept teaching myself.

    This is why corporations, particularly US ones, love identity politics.
    It helps them appear virtuous but above all it helps them divide and rule as the witless proles endlessly argue amongst themselves whilst ignoring the elephant in the room.

      we're given cultural targets to offset our alienation and atomization and one of the faux interfaces of neoliberal ideology, hyperindividualism, teaches us to never organize horizontally like the capital class. everybody's looking for singular ladders to join a vertical class. private wealth, private fantasy, private identity, private heaven on material plane, embedded behind state violence and vertical extraction.

    Now that I've had an introduction to foreign policy via my international relations degree program, the more I see how fear-mongering, narrow-minded (which is expected considering you see the world through one lens), and unfortunately, misinformed Parenti was.
    The perfect example of this was 'To Kill A Nation' where he said that genocide wasn't happening and was simply a ploy by "President Clinton and his associates" to destroy Yugoslavia due to the state not wanting to join NATO or the E.U.
    He claims the West wanted to break up the state, when that was the opposite as we can see going back to 1990 when Europe actually gave a 5.5 billion-dollar loan to keep the country unitary as it was years before despite the civil war starting or about to start. Even though claims of independence happened in 1991 with Croatia and Slovenia, it was only in 1992 that they were recognized due to civil wars occurring. Of course, I could go into the proven genocide claims with Milosevic being charged as my initial evidence or the mass rape by the Bosnians. If it wasn't for people like Milosevic, Yugoslavia might have roughly remained intact and continued to be a liberal democracy as it was starting in 1990.

      @@jvh4438 Reading about the events that Parenti himself decided to write on decades after they happened and the book was published as well. That is the point of any book, and Parenti's book in this case isn't notable past anyone who wants to be an "anti-imperialist."
