Just found this yesterday. This was the last session Joe Osborn and Hal Blaine and Glenn Campbell did together. Friends for over 50 years. That's my father playing the bass. Sad to watch, but good to see them together. Those three men, and Glenn made a massive contribution to the fabric of American music, and inspired the world.
The song took the grammy for best country song.

Yes, Joe Osborn is my father. As you probably know, he died December 14, 2018. He was my best friend and I miss him terribly. Hal Blaine passed 3 months later. They are a big part of why the '60s sound the way they sound. I was fortunate to see them work together on hundreds of recordings.

That is very neat to find videos of your dad playing over the years. I randomly stumbled upon Glen Campbell’s “Wichita Lineman” a day before his 3 year death anniversary, and then over the weekend progressed to learn about The Wrecking Crew. 5 years ago I wouldn’t have really liked this music but suddenly I can’t get enough it. I’m going to look up what else Joe Osborn is known for.

I remember when I first heard this song. I thought it was a sad, but beautiful tribute to his family. Now in 2023 I'm watching my grandfather die from dementia. I'm watching him not miss us, not know us, he is a shell of what he once was. I wish I could take it away, I wish I could make him remember. I wish I could be a kid for one more day. He was like my dad. He helped raise me. I don't want to do this.

My friend is a late in life son of a lovely couple. My friend's widowed father had to be in a residential care facility when his dementia progressed significantly. My friend visited his father often at that facility. He would come home depressed and tell his wife: "Dad doesn't even know who I am when I visit him. But he seems to be happy to meet me as a stranger". His wife told him to look at his dad's affliction from a different perspective. "Dad is happy to meet 'new people" every time we go to see him".

Such an unselfish thing the Campbell family has done... allowing his adoring fans to see the devastation this disease is causing him and his family. I grew up loving Glen's songs and played them for my children too. I am very touched by what the family has shared and this song broke my heart - there needs to be more awareness about what this disease does to families and those suffering. As a caregiver to people who are struggling with this and having had my own family members afflicted I appreciate very much what the family has shared. God Bless you all

Very brave of Glen to do this. Oops. Maybe not. He had no idea that he was being put on display. Sorry, but I have mixed feelings. Good for people to understand how horrible Alzheimer's is. But after hearing his last album and watching the powerful documentary, I just feel sorry for him. and his family. And, sadly, this is how I will remember him . A far cry from his collaborations with Jimmy Webb and his starring in True Grit. God bless the Campbell family.

I have loved Glen Campbell for a long time for his amazing guitar skills and lyrics from his classic songs. I think that it makes me think each day to be a better man, friend, father and husband. It also reminds me of what I need to do to make sure my family knows I love them and what I need to do to make sure they are ready for that sad day that is coming for all of us. Thanks Glen and also the Wrecking Crew. Amazing song.

      AGING LOVED ONES
Watching some one you love disappear right in front of your eyes is never an easy thing to experience. Love calls us to be present with them though, even as the fog of memory loss thickens to the point the person you know and love becomes harder and harder to see.
My Fathers memory and periodic moments of disorientation seem to be getting worse and I have felt helpless.
Today in church we sang a song entitled “All I have” the opening lines go like this:
What have I, in this life
But the love, In your eyes
This empty world, will one day fade
      Only your truth, will remain
Jesus all I have is you
You’re the hope I’m holding to
I might weep but still my faith
      Rests in you
Those words really hit home and brought me comfort. As calendars gradually begin to look like BINGO cards to my father, the calming presence of Jesus Christ can be that one thing that remains constant. Quieting confusion the way a sandy beach takes a crashing wave and allows it to come to a rest.
      The song continues to say:
As the Heavens hold the sky
It’s your hand that holds my life
And your love will lead me on
      When all else is gone…..
When all else is gone Lord, whether it be our physical or mental capacities or just hope in general help us to remember your love will never fade.
      Deuteronomy 31:8
And the LORD, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.”
      GOD BLESS

I saw Glen Campbell and Andy Williams perform in Branson back in June of 2006 at the Andy Williams Theater before Glen was diagnosed with alzheimer's. They put on a heck of a show. He sure is missed. We can't replace Glen Campbell but we can remember him as a good singer.

This song was so sad when I first heard it, but it's even more so now. My mother in law has dementia and we see here going down by the day. We dread the day when she no longer remembers us. This song has even more poignancy now. God bless all who is dealing with this disease and the families left devastated by it.

He does not have this horrible disease but the words are true about him. He doesn't miss me in his life. He doesn't respond to the pain that he has caused me.
      GOD BLESS

Greetings from across the pond ,condolences to you and yours on your father's passing, im 61 years old and can assure you that the music these wonderfully talented people produced over the years will never die as younger people are discovering the greatest musical era in history and the major part the wrecking crew played in shaping and inspiring generations of future musicians worldwide ,their legacy will live on.
