I know Ashley, you will most likely not see this. My dad passed with dementia in 2019, he asked me to remember him and told me it was going to be okay and patted my hand the day before he passed when he saw me crying. You have no idea how much this song has meant to me but I thank you for putting into song my heart and soul and letting me know that I'm not alone. And the for embarassing bawling of a 30 year old guy that nobody sees, Thank you.
I lost my dad to dementia in 2019 as well. Going to see Ashley in a few months, it'll be quite an experience if she plays this. The film they made (I'll Be Me) was incredibly moving to watch and one that so many of us could relate to.
My wife Peggy was going through hospice because of cancer in a Rehab hospital about 4.5 years ago. I was playing Maggie May for her on my phone and started crying. She patted my hand and was more worried about me than her dying from esophageal cancer. She passed about 4 days later. As she took her last breath I told her, it's ok to leave, I'll see you again, I promise. Amazing what life throws at you.
@@jamesedwards2237 my condolances brother. The people who havent experienced what we have will never know how precious life is. It has mellowed me a lot. I went to the graveside last night and shared some memories with our family. The pain was still there but is gradually being replaced by peace with it and focusing on appreciating the time I actually had rather than wishing for more.
Ashley, first of all the song is excellent. Well done!! Thank you! Secondly, I believe your Dad has done something far greater than Elvis or Beatles, because he came to Jesus when he met your mommy, and he showed the world how Jesus changed his life and brought him salvation and peace. His example has touched so many, not just with a great career and killer songs, but he preached the gospel with his life, and that is truley eternal. It has effected me personally, and he will continue to be used by God to show that no matter how fameous or wealthy or loved you are, God is greater, and His treasures far more than this world can offer. I love him, and you, and your whole family, and share yiur grief at this time. God bless you honey.
I watched her sing this song to old time bands, the Gatlin Brothers, etc., she had them in tears, Glen had a lot of friends in music, he was a legend but a good guy too, the disease did a lot to him and changed him, in life he never acted like that, he was a gentle man.Ashley did a great job on this song, she can sing like a bird, she did herself and her daddy proud, with this very touching song, I loved it.
I saw the documentary on Glen Campbell. It was beautiful. This tribute to him is beyond beautiful. You, Ashley, have a lovely voice and have clearly inherited your dad's talents.
So sweet, and written before Glen died. I'm dealing with my daddy not remembering. I have to remember for him. Remind him to use his walker. Remind him to eat. Remind him to check on mommy. It's such a blessing to have your folks in their 80's.
Thank you Jesus for giving us Glen Campbell. May Glen rest in Your arms forever. Thank you Glen for giving us years of your talent. You will never be forgotten. Love this song by his daughter. She has inherited his talent.
As much as I love art that can make me cry, very few things have ever made me. I've bawled my eyes out to this song several times. I truly believe that "We can talk until you can't even remember my name" is one of the most emotionally devastating and crushing lyrics I've heard in any song, any genre. So far haven't been able to hear this song without getting at LEAST 2-5 tears out of me.
I can’t stop crying and remembering. I just came here after watching you in an interview on the Circle, Southern Weekend show, talking about your father, etc. beautiful story and tribute. I came here when I found out you wrote this song, because you see, my father died 4 years ago and I’m still haunted by the thief that stole his memories! Dementia is a thief! I cared for my father 24/7 after mama died suddenly. I noticed he was already in the stages of dementia, his sister had had Alzheimer’s, my papa was diagnosed vascular dementia. It’s all sad. Anyways I cared for him 8 months exactly to the day mama went. It was so hard witnessing the rapid changes in my father. I think he just gave up the will to live after mama went no matter what. We had some good talks for a few months but then a month before he passed he pretty much stopped talking. I was doing everything for papa at this stage. This song just brought back all those memories. I was always a daddy’s girl so it killed me to see this big strong man being stripped away of everything! I missed our talks. I missed everything about him. The end came quick because I knew something else was wrong. I kept insisting the drs check him for cancer and they’d just tell me he’s fine, he’s just grieving, that’s why he’s losing 40 lbs in 3 months! Arghhh. I finally had him admitted to the hospital through ER and they discovered stage 4 cancer in 4 places!! When he heard that it seems he checked out completely. He was gone in 4 days. I made sure I brought him home right away on hospice so he could be in his own home and not a sterile environment of bad memories of where mama died. Beautiful song Ashley! My father and I always loved your father. I got my love of traditional country music from my papa. He and mama were born in Alabama. Then dad joined the military. 4 years Navy then 23 Air Force. I miss him everyday. Don’t worry daddy, I’ll do all the remembering! God bless you Ashley . ❤❤❤
I like your acoustic version that you did. This song really reminds me of my own dad, when he had already be diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer. He asked me if I could go for a walk with him, so I went. We went around the block and he stopped, he told me that he didn’t think he could make it back home and I was worried. I looked around to see if there was a home that I could go to and ask to call an ambulance. He told me that he could make it. We went home and that was the last time that I ever walked with my dad. He passed away on September 30, 2009, I lost my best friend. This song helps me remember him, he was the best dad ever.
Beautiful Lady, beautiful song. Glenn was great and now his children can enjoy the talent brought forth. Bone for bone we're all the same, that's damn right.
She has his cleft in her chin...talent is inherited.....such a lovely and sad song. I lost my mom to Alzheimer's .....she was my mom, then my best friend, then I was the mom. I loved it and hated it. agonizing for the family to watch...endure...and a blessing when freedom finally comes.
Dear Ashey, After meeting you I understood that the most important people are not looking for each other, life presents them to you, in this case, the most beautiful voice in Country, it's you. meet you, fall in love, love you and now I can't live without you. ❤❤
Keep coming back to hear this beautiful song over the years. Everything about it is wonderful from the lyrics to the vocals, melody, visuals, musicians, just a great video! It has a sweet message, a good feeling and is just an excellent performance.
I just loved her voice what a beautiful daughter Glenn had I bet he's so proud and it breaks my heart when he's going through what a good daughter so supportive of her daddy!😀 and I got something in my eye too
_Rhinestone Cowboy_ was the first song that I ever loved by myself; one that I selected, not introduced by my parents. I remember playing it in that hot bedroom in the summer of 1975 on my Mickey Mouse record player as my parent's divorce proceeded and my little world fell apart. I'm glad that Mr. Campbell had such great support around him in his last years as that cruel disease progressed.
My father also died of Alzheimers in Jan of 2017. He was 77. I am also a singer and sang "You are my Sunshine" to him the day he died. My husband sang it at his funeral. I still cry every time we perform it. Love and light to your family. It is a horrible disease.
My dad grew up with your dad in Delight, Ark. Glen was quite a few years younger, but our grand folks knew each other and went to chapel together. We've always loved his music. Beautiful song and tribute to a talented performer.
Proud of the Campbell children, they have great genetics but they worked hard to stand up as themselves, especially when dad was a Superstar loved all around the globe. Strength health and happiness to the Glenn Campbell clan.
Half a million views. NICE!!! Glad people are paying attention. I'm happy for you Ashley. Hoping you and your brothers have a long career making music. I'll be listening.
She's a good girl... and stayed by her Daddy to the end... even struggling throughout his attempts at performing on the road. Anyone would have to be proud of a daughter like that. Check out her acoustic version... just voice and guitar.
Great song Ashley wow my parents passed away in 2016 and 2017 in April. I listened to your Dads songs he was a legend. He will always be in your heart FOREVER like my parents are to me. I saved this song to share with my daughter. OK i have to wipe the tears. XOXOX
Very beautiful. You are extremely talented, Ashley. I hope you continue to write, record and perform your music. My prayers go out for you and your family. Peace.
I am an LPN and worked almost exclusively with Memory care patients. I have a sense of what you and your family have been through, having walked together with many down this path. Thank you.
This song is such a treasure. It's moving and beautiful and frankly, it's nice to see a video of a GOOD father and daughter relationship. There's so many negative views abounding that it made this ever that much more poignant and magnificent. This is Grammy-worthy!
I am an Alzheimer's/dementia nurse. I am blessed to spend my patients' last leg of this journey with them. I only regret that I never knew them in their prime of life. Most of them don't even have people to visit them.
Thank you for that song. My dad went through the same thing and I relate to every word. I even wrote down every beautiful memory that I could think of for him to read. I wrote a song for him called, "That's My Dad" and played it for him. I am not sure if he even knew it was about him by the time it got to the end of the song but maybe he knows now. Thank you again for such a beautiful song.

My father has been slipping away for over 20 years now, and I do the remembering everyday, even when he doesn't remember my name. That sums up what living with an Alzheimer's patient is like My dad & I used to sing together.... to all your dad's songs, nice memories. Love your song, your words exactly describe what happens. The last 5 years I never heard her say my name and that was hard as well. My prayers are with the entire family, but especially Ashley because I was the youngest also.
Ashley Campbell, Beautiful tribute to your dad. I'll always miss mine who died from Vascular Dementia in 2013. Glad my dad is strong and healthy as well as other deceased family members when I dream of them in my sleep.

Aww Ashley, a beautiful tribute to Daddy. Your song, the bridge and chorus, actually laces hands perfectly w your Dad's I'm Not Gonna Miss You. But you probably already knew that.
Me too, I cried so hard listening. Sweet tears of love. I just changed the lyrics to Mama Don't you worry I'll do the remembering. God bless you. Isn't it a blessing that we had parents that we loved and they loved us.
Not only is this lady amazing in the form you see her in here, she is also well versed in comedy performance among various improv circles and theater. Multi-talented and good looking to boot. What a combo. Love and best wishes to the Campbell family.

Glen Campbell has clearly handed all that talent to his children. Glen is one of my favourite singers and one hell of a guitarist.
