Didn't expect to run into Patric here lol. Haven't you done a review for this pedal as well? 🤔 I'm wanting badly to get this pedal for my rig. I'm torn between this one and the baby brother pedal Alpha Omicron as far as which one I want. I agree with your assessment totally, and believe that there isn't any manufacturer out there that has cornered distortion affects for bass. All others fall short or the bottom end falls out in my opinion.
That feels like the darkglass signature sound to me. Not sure if there is one, but I’ve never heard another brand give that sound. Most are too fuzzy. I had a boss distortion pedal once, and it could never do that. I love that tone
Nice. Was wondering when I would see some darkglass pop up on this channel. I own this one, highly recommended it. Great review. I'm loving the videos you guys make, one of my favorite channels hands down.
Had the alpha omnicron but always had the feeling there was something missing. Traded the pedal for this pedal (with a few bucks with it) and bamm, now I got THE sound.
I just got this pedal yesterday, and gigged it last night after quickly rearranging my pedal board to fit it on. I quickly turned a few knobs to get a sound I liked when I plugged in, and then played the show. It sounded pretty good seeing as though I didn’t have time to play around with it. I’m about to try it out at home now, and am looking forward to seeing what it can really do.
@@davidkekstroll5836 yeah, I like it. It gives a good fat well rounded sound, and with the switched settings, and tone knobs it has good variety within the range of its general sound. I like harsh sounding fuzz like wooley mammoth, and B:ass master, but this pedal has more sizzle than reedyness, if you can imagine that. It’s distortion levels can be tame enough to not get the singer to ask you not to use that “overpowering” pedal. I still stack the wooley mammoth, and POG on top, and some other pedals, which sound good. It sounds good on its own, but adding another overdrive or fuzz before it sounds great on choruses etc.
Temple of Set Demon Distortion of The Damned pedal by Michael Aquino! lol All joking aside though...love some of those dirty Getty Lee pang tones. All in all very nice pedal
hi ,one more grate review of grate preamp. thanks guys:). if i run the alfa-omega with drive knob on 0, can in get clear sound and use it like undistordet preamp for recording/practicing?
I'm trying to decide between this and a tech 21 SansAmp bass driver. I'm a guitar player, but need something to give shape to my bass sound for my home recordings. I have a lousy, cheapo ESP bass that cost me less than this pedal (eventually getting a decent bass, but it's going to be a minute) and looking for something that can really polish the turd of a bass that I have. I feel like the bass driver has more tonal shaping qualities, but this pedal can do dirty sounds better. Does that sound right?
I can't seem to get the same tone as it is at 4:48 yet all my dials on the pedal are matching, anyone care to enlighten me? i realise i'm probably being an absolute plonker but i can't seem to change my tone from a fuzzy overdrive to a more refined and cutting tone
Bassic Gear Review I’m using a 5 string Jackson, the strings are only a few months old, because of the pre amp in the pedal I set my amp to flat 12 for bass, mid and treble and I play with both fingers and a pick and not too hard but not too soft
We had the amp set flat as well. You should be getting at least close with what you described. Especially with the pick. Hopefully you get it figured out!
Is it just me or do all of these demos and pedals sound the same.I have spoken to a lot of bass players and have received the same feedback.I even tried out the head and of the pedals. Not sure what all of the fuss is about(Not trying to be negative).
Are you talking strictly the Darkglass pedals? I haven't spent much time with the AO in particular, but if you think the Vintage and the B7K sound the same you need to get your ears checked.
+Mick F If you're relatively new and/or unfamiliar with the product, they can have a tendency to sound similar. Kind of like listening to a new band for the first time and having some trouble distinguishing songs. The more familiar you get, the easier it is to distinguish the differences. That being said, just like Ampeg, Orange, Fender, etc., Darkglass does have their own signature sound that is apparent in their products. You just have to find which flavor works for you if any at all. Cheers and thanks for watching!
I kinda see where you are coming from on that, unless you dive deep into bass distortion and fuzz they all do sound similar. Makes you wonder how you can actually find a unique tone of your own because of that. But then i actually tried a Darkglass pedal in person and i became a convert. Hearing it in person but dialed in from your own instrument is a whole nother ball game.
To me this is seriously Darkglass' best pedal to date bar none, killer job guys!
Patrick Hunter Thanks, man! This pedal is so awesome! We're hoping to check out the Duality and B7K soon.
I heard it works better as a boost/drive than a preamp? Really curious since there's a special coronavirus price near locally so it's a steal.

@@TheBassChannel I like your approach on reviews. Simple and straight to the facts. Thanks for the video
Darkglass is the reason i went back to bass. The innovation is exciting
0:57 is THE sound, IMHO.
Swamp Song riffing sound is epic, even though I like it a tiny bit less distorted.
I totally agree

very Pat Morris era Don Cab or Six Horse
Great review! I like how its not just slapping, pick playing or shredding. Just bass licks. Keep up the good job!

Great review. I'm loving the videos you guys make, one of my favorite channels hands down.
Thanks for playing with the blend knob, magic right there. Great demo. Love the Geddy bass!
That sound is freaking awesome! Now,
Im more clear about what I want. Great review guys

The EQ do really a lot on it, like i dont want to boost mids and highs with a separate EQ because if I take the AO off it will sound damn clanky
Absolutely love mine! Hands down my favorite distortion pedal. Great video guys as always. 🤘😎
I still feel the Vintage Microtubes is my favorite from Darkglass. Great demo!

How's now your thoughts on that

That tone at 5:06 made me finally decide to stop dragging my feet about getting one of these.
Hands down one of the best bass distortion pedals available currently.
Awesome review like always guys!
Please do Darkglass Microtubes 900 review
Nice Demo
Keep up the good work guys
The distortion sounds a lot clearer and less fuzzy with more note definition than the Swollen Pickle pedal.
An absolit supreme distortion unit.
Compared to my (shitty) zoom b3 fuzz, it has amazing power and is very versatile.
I don't trust this pedal. I feel that if I buy one I'm also signing a contract to be abducted into the secret society :(
Nothing to worry about with the secret society thing! At first I was nervous but (redacted)
ONE OF US!!!
You will be one of us... but you will also have our tone sooooo
jOiN uS
Society where "other" Distortion or Overdrive pedal sound like cheap trash. Been there for 6 years now, and worth it tho.
DuBois shreds!
The first exposition of full-omega was significantly sweet.
Too many other serious moments of tone to mention.
Sounds better than the B7K!
What is the recommended power supply for this pedal? Can I use a regular "truetone 1 spot 9vDc"?
Temple of Set Demon Distortion of The Damned pedal by Michael Aquino! lol All joking aside though...love some of those dirty Getty Lee pang tones. All in all very nice pedal

What kind of bass are you using? Are your strings dead? How is your amp set? Pick or fingers? How hard do you play?

are you running to the front of amp or effects loops to bypass the preamp on the amp?
Hi,can you do super-ego? Thanks!

Damn...
The best distortion pedal for bass?
Man you can really see this guy has testosterone issues, he is super feminine and I'm wondering if he eats enough red meat
Bro dafuq
Well, that's probably the most unprovoked shit comment I've ever read.
The guy has perhaps a coldly assertive manner, but your comment is nonsense
