I just got my 3s in the mail 30 minutes ago. I never tried vr before and it's the coolest thing I've ever experienced. Alot of people made it seem like if you dont have pancake lenses, dont bother with vr. Not true at all, it's still ground breaking and especially for the cost 👍
The 3S is an AMAZING headset to be your first!! Yeah if you owned a 3 before you might see the faults of the 3S but like I said in the initial review it's still a Hell of a headset for $299
Make sure you try lots of great games. If you only buy it for VRChat and Beat Saber, you'll be disappointed because those 2 games are low quality compared to a lot of games in the library
Honestly all we really need from VR now is for the headsets to be smaller and more integrated into our lives. Battery isn't as huge a deal as you can always have an affordable high-capacity battery on your person. For VR to REALLY take off, we just need it be be something we can take around the world with us, the way we do phones and laptops. If you see someone at the cafe with a VR headset, you would raise an eyebrow, but if the headset was very small and compact, similar to the Meta ORION or even the Bigscreen Beyond, it wouldn't look out of place at all. The line between AR and VR are blurring, especially with how fantastic Meta's passthrough tech is in recent updates. The real Metaverse is our regular world, but with AR apps and games augmenting it in our favorite cafes and spaces.
So, cost not being a factor, which is actually the better headset? I tried a Quest 2, and couldn't get the lenses in the right place, yet the pancakes on the Quest 3, soo much better...
Definitely still the 3 but there are a few things the S does better like hand tracking, low light, and having an action button instead of that annoying double tap to the side of the headset that always happens unintentionally

I used to have quest 2, sold it after some time. I just got quest 3, i like the form factor lenses, graphics, it came a long way. Also quest 3 comes with 512gb memory, where 3S with 128gb you can get 256gb but price is then $100 cheaper then quest 3. I think more storage is needed as games sizes will be increasing a lot.

Will you please review this product so that everyone could possibly benefit? I know for a fact that it works. Got to give prop to Meta for improving technology further than any 50 year old companies for only 5 years span. Meta is also the first company to treat vr headset has a consumers product rather than a great gem that is expensive while hiding in a secret room in a the dungeon
The Quest 3S is like an iPhone SE model, Its a cheap lower end version. If you do not have a VR headset and just want to get your feet wet and try out vr without paying a lot of money then yes go with the 3S otherwise go with a Quest 3 since its around $200 cheaper than is used to be and has better specs.
I personally done see the huge concern with passthrough privacy with the headset camera. Alot of those people seems to forget they have a phone with multiple facing cameras and multiple apps that are not that secure itself. Not forgetting their private galleries also being on the same device. Apple is supposed to be secure, but they have had their share private leaks. I know that's on the person falling for scams etc. They are they same people that use modern technology.
@@jaybratt Monitor replacement. I have low vision. So, I use it for my work and play. When I'm not in immersed for work, I'm in HDMI link for media streaming on sites like RUclips and CrunchyRoll. Gaming to. I only use the one screen in immersed as well. It's nice because I can pull it close to my eyes and curve it to what I need to minimize craning my neck.
@@jaybratt I guess I should explain. I can function at work better with the pass through. I can see my cell to use my RSA soft token. It's also lighter and the s3 pro headstrap with the fan is amazing for comfort. I'll be using the 3s at union convention with Fluid for reading the documentation and taking notes as well. I can walk around with it on instead of taking it off when I want to see. It'll be great.
. I have a 3 and was hoping there would be no improvements on the 3a because I paid more so it should be better but after seeing this video I’m a little upset that I paid more. It seems the only thing that is worse is lenses. Would there be a way that the improvements the quest 3 s has could be improved on quest 3 by software
The lenses may be the only real drop but it's a HUGE leap from the Quest 3 lenses. Overall the headset build quality also feels much lower on the S but I get what you mean. Especially if you bought the 128gb 3 that has been replaced for the same price with the 512 gb now. The 3 is still the top headset but a year of learning at Meta did allow them to make a few things better on the newer cheaper headset.
i dont know why people expected this to be more like a quest 3 than a quest 2. “3S” doesnt mean its supposed to be a type of 3, it means it means its a quest 2.5
It shows that 299 is the sweet spot for VR to be successful. It will just be a matter of time that we will be getting a pancake 299 headset from meta. I got my Pico 4 at a sale for 260 a few months back… it was shocking for the price. I also got the Quest 3 for standalone.
I would say in some games Quest 3s is better, it runs Bonelab better than the quest 3 , I think it is because it dont have to render the higher resolution. Bonelab is laggy in some cases in Bonelab but quest 3s is super smooth. And I can honestly hardly tell a difference between the lenses and resolution, the 3s have some of the best fresnel lenses I have seen. Its a great headset
Been using the 3s for a cpuple days now and holy hell is it good for a first headset, i absolutely love watching movies with it. I just need to get a headstrap for it
Well even if the new 3S is maybe somewhat better than the Quest 3 in some of your opinions, I am not going to throw away the Quest 3 to get this new headset. The Quest 3 works for me and bought it before there was even a 3S announcement. Yes I do agree that there will be more 3s units sold because of pricing. The Quest 3 is great for all my gaming needs. is asgard's wrath 2 an exception and will be permanent? because the quest + catalog of games is a rotating list. I recently lost Moss and Arizona sunshine.. although I think Arizona sunshine might've been removed due to the upcoming remake
frankly, my quest 3 sits on the sideboard for over 3 month now and gets more n more dusty. Dont have much time playin games, no matter on pc, vr or in real life. not certain if I'll stay with this headset or return it to amazon n ever buy me a new one again. the quest+ trial is about to expire anyhow shortly. i need to attend to my other hobbies as well. kinda feel like I lost interest, idk.

Got the 3s, tried to use pcvr for 2 days and only now i realize i had battery saver on and what do you know, it works super smoothly. Great video

3s is not better than 3. Pancake lenses are way too good for 3s to have any competition with the 3.
They're like 15% better. It's certainly not like going from 1080p to 4k.
