Every video I have watched thusfar of you has audio latency. The audio is not properly syncing with the movement of your lips. Maybe something to have a look at.
@MartyDudeVR I have AT&T as well. Fiber in fact. You absolutely can use your own router with their service. You just log into their gateway and turn off the router function then install the router behind the gateway and configure as normal. Have that setup at home with a TP-Link WiFi6 6000 router and AT&T’s older fiber gateway.
Yes, I am interested in the specifications of the Quest 4 and will they still stick with the same type of pancake lenses or go to OLED. They will be doing a high and low end versions of the Quest 4. Time shall Tell if this would be a good upgrade to go to. Plus there will be other VR headsets that maybe a better choice. VR Technology does not stand still.
@@MartydudeVR What do you think is the price increase for that display? I'm guessing it will be close to Meta Quest Pro price, which is somewhat fair for a more premium display compared to a Quest 3, but still very expensive.
Traded my Quest 3 for a PS VR2 simply because the PS VR has display port. Trying to stream high end games through wireless or through a USB 3 cable has been a challenge and far from a flawless and streamlined process. Some games look okay, and others have such high compression that it looks like I'm playing a 720p game. I'm tired of fighting with it for PC gaming.
You realise that you've bought a VR device that you can't buy controllers for. I have a PSVR2 & can't even sell the useless thing today because no one wants a VR device without fully working controllers. Neither thumb stick works, and one has tracking issues. PSVR2 is literally the worst VR device anyone could buy. Sony is a trash company that is trying to kill VR with sheer stupidity.
@AlexanderTCardosi Good for you? Are you looking for a medal or something for still having working controllers from the scummy company that expects you to buy a new headset when those shoddy controllers break?
@@TKD_Link damn, if you are that salty because someone had a good experience, I would hate to see how you treat people around you in real life. Hopefully you treat people better than you do a random stranger.
@@josephk6136 I'm merely making sure that the ignorant realise that buying a VR device you can't replace controllers for is seriously stupid. At least when I bought mine, it was with the expectation controllers would be sold. Enjoy the failure Scummy managed to con you into buying. 🤣
The TP-Link dongle didn’t work well for me. My motherboard has antennas for Bluetooth and WiFi, so I removed them and bought an antenna extension cable. The tracking is now perfect and never fails.
I have both the quest 3 and the PSVR2 on PC. I have a 4070 Ti gaming rig. I have both and can say that both have strengths and weaknesses. When it comes to pure clarity and wanting to see extremel levels of details comfortably then the pancake lens on the quest 3 is the way to go, but you will have to deal with the LCD display and visual artifacts which makes it look like 720p sometimes (due to USB c connection and not display port), however if you need the OLED display and DP port of the PSVR2 then you will sacrifice some clarity due to fresnel lens. It’s 100% subjective and neither headset is better than the other as some people value clarity and others need OLED. For me personally, as a pure PCVR headset (not looking at the standalone function of the quest), the PSVR2 takes the cake for me. The OLED display is a must as I play a lot of horror games such as phasmophobia in VR and it looks far better in terms of colour profile and darkness. Also having the display port makes it feel much more immersive as you aren’t distracted by the artifacts due to compression. So it fully feels real to me. Whereas the quest felt a bit distant due to the artifacts it made it look like I was looking at a video sometimes, although I really love the pancake display of the quest. Overall the best headset is one that has OLED, pancake and display port, which are the super expensive ones on the market. So for me right now I use the PSVR2 for my pc
Unbiased reviews and no fanboying? I'm here for it! Subbed! My PSVR2 has gathered dust pretty much since I bought it, maybe this will help me dust it off. Cheers for a great video.
I really love your balanced view of vr and enjoy hearing someone be so positive about vr and how we should be respectful and happy that people are getting into vr no matter what platform. Were all here to have fun and gate keeping and fanboying over a corporation that doesnt care about your loyalty is a lose, lose scenario. I love your channel Marty peace ✌
I love how you state both platforms advantages. Very informative bro. That being said, i already had a PS5 and PSVR2. And my PC older than America so im building a new one on Saturday. Cant wait to try my PSVR2 on it. Great video 👍🏼
Dang bro! Why you so real😁 I'm loving your videos man. I just love the fact that you love vr and you're not a fanboy. People should be happy that vr exist and is a treat for everyone interested. Subbed bro!
Marty, I still can't decide whether to buy a PS VR2 or not? Many people speak negatively about them and praise Meta Quest 3. Which is better to take? I use PS5
@ Preferably wireless, but I'm more concerned about the quality of the games. And it seems that there are larger projects on Meta Quest 3, but I would really like to play projects that were not released on Quest 3, Pavlov, for example, the wire on PSVR2 is a little confusing, but it is 4 meters, it’s hard to stumble, it seems, but I’m still I see more negative reviews on Amazon and I'm thinking about buying Quest 2 or Quest 3
This is my totally unbiased opinion here and I'll start by saying, i strongly dislike Meta in general but: I vastly prefer the Meta Quest 3 over the PSVR2. Yes, the PSVR2 has OLED tech and I tremendously prefer this over LCD. But the sweet spot was easy for me to accomplish, but more importantly, much harder to maintain over the Quest 3. I'll also add that, for the main game that I play which is Paradiddle VR (a literally drum sim) for some reason it just felt really weird to play with the Sense controllers. But the Q3 controllers felt great. I want to note that I didnt have any tracking issues at all with the PSVR2. It was buttery smooth and no jittering. I cant really explain why the sense controllers felt bad for drumming. It just didnt feel natural at all. Ill take the lens glare over the smudgy image quality on the PSVR2 despite having much better colors.
Yes, I love the lack of bias in your opinion. I'm curious about the comparison between the big screen Beyond and psvr2 on PC. Is everything okay? Specifically the panels
Great review. I solved the "problem" by getting both. Already have the Q3 for a long time, and I am getting the PSVR2, plus Elite Pulse audio... let's see if the PSVR2 goes back again, whether it completely takes over or, what I am kind of expecting, a mix of both headsets, enjoying their advantages while bearing with their limitations...
Fantastic review and break down, the best i have seen. 💯 I was leaning more towards the Quest but you actually make a damn good case for the PSVR2, now i am stummped 🤦♂
@@TheVRResistanceI have a ps5 and the VR, what do you mean by high end? I’m sure mine can run it no problem. I got my first pc 2 years ago and my GPU is a 3080 Ti. I was wondering how long it’ll be until I need an upgrade, i’m still relatively new to the Pc world and i wanted to ask someone with more experience.
Best solution I've found... buy more than 1 headset. Especially since the PSVR2 is currently $350. I have the Quest 3 and PSVR2. I honestly prefer PSVR2 for PC VR due to it being wired and having 0 compression artifacts. Cloud gaming and standalone VR stuffs are great on the Quest 3 headset. Can't wait for the next generation of VR headsets.
Just an FYI. Wi-Fi 5 stands for 5th generation. Not 5ghz. WiFi 6 stands for 6th generation, not 6ghz. They both run in 2.4ghz and 5ghz. But it’s just comparing the 802.11ac vs 802.11ax standards. Essentially it just means that wifi 6 can push almost 3x the bandwidth throughput over WiFi 5. Granted, there are certain routers ( especially on WiFi 6E and Wifi 7 systems) that use tri band with the added 6ghz frequency. But those are a bit rare as of now for standard users out there. Also, most devices don’t even have a receiving antenna to utilize it. Anyway, great review man. But I hope I provided a little extra knowledge for ya.
I love my PSVR2 because of the trigger effect and the haptic feedback in the headset. But it’s uncomfortable and it’s tethered. So I prefer my quest 3 on pc. But if Sony allows the triggers effect to work (and pc can support the trigger effect in steam already) then I would connect to pc for sure. You can also connect a Wi-Fi 6 router to your modem and turn off the Wi-Fi on the modem so you are using the Wi-Fi 6 instead. Or you can connect the Wi-Fi 6 router directly to your pc and switch between both routers. That’s what I used to do.
Best comparison so far. No fanboyism. Might pick up the adaptor for my PSVR2 nextime but at the moment im still good with PS5 games with alot of backlogs and just gonna invest on direct drive sim rig. Might explore options on building a gaming PC when 5000 rtx gpu arrives down the line.
If you've got dough for a 5090, then I'd go with a Pimax or better headset and not bother with either of these lower end HMDs. I'd even consider the AVP for PCVR if money is no object
Thanks for the awesome review. Best one I’ve seen so far. Strongly considering the PSVR2. I do have a couple questions but let me briefly explain my use case because it’s rather unique, maybe there’s a better option I’m not aware of and maybe someone else out there similar to myself is also struggling. I’m a truck driver, I’m on the road 2-4 weeks at a time. I’m also a long time competitive FPS player and a patient Star Citizen hopeful. My laptop screen was too small and cumbersome so I started looking into HMDs primarily as a monitor replacement. This first led me to the XReal Air 2. Its simplicity, no software, high pixel density was a dream. However the edge to edge clarity was lacking, the screen was still too small and the head tracking hack for sims was constantly losing zero. I returned those which led me to what I’m currently using, the Quest 3. As my first ever VR headset I was blown away. However issues kept creeping in. The biggest of them being the input latency. It wasn’t as noticeable playing a proper VR game like Half Life Alyx but playing a game with mouse and keyboard is extremely rough. I got my input lag down to 24ms after about a MONTH of tweaking but still not sufficient. The compression thing really sucks. With the release of the PSVR2 adapter it has led me in this direction. The DPVR E4 seems to lack in features for the same price. Now my questions: Can I charge the PSVR2 while playing? Can I use it as a direct display through Nvidia control panel? If not, can I use Virtual Desktop to play flat screen games with reduced latency? Thanks!
@@Crittek Hey! Since the PSVR2 is a direct display port input, there's absolutely no latency. If your laptop has USB 3.0 and a Displayport then I'd definitely go PSVR2 for a no latency experience
I sincerely hope you didn't end up buying a PSVR2. If you haven't, for the love of god don't. You cannot buy controllers for it, other than ridiculously overpriced on ebay for over $200 per controller from third party. They're sense controllers, notorious for failing! Both my thumbsticks died after 17 months (bought on launch) and one controller doesn't track well, making them useless in any game. Check online forums and you'll notice a lot of launch adopters who actually used their devices a fair bit with non functioning controllers. I can't even sell this useless device today! Broken controllers have rendered a nearly $1k device absolutely useless after not even 1.5 years! You can buy controllers for the Meta 3. Sony make garbage controllers that you can't replace. Run from all Sony garbage at every chance.
One thing a lot of people aren't focusing about is the support Hz. PSVR2 only supports 90hz and 120hz. Which are the ideal HZ to plays VR but as we know not everyone can reach that high of a frame rate with their setup. I think this is more important than alot of people think. Quest3 supports 72hz, 80hz, 90hz and 120hz. By being able to lower the FPS to 72hz this allows you to choose clarity and run games you might not be able to run.
And 72hz and 80hz are mostly fine to play VR. Just not as smooth as 90 or 120 but they work just fine. And its better to have the 72hz and 80hz option when needed than it is to not have the option This hurt PSVR2 when it came to the PS5 aswell. One of the biggest complaint was games was using reprojection to hit 120fps. A much better solution than doing reprojection was 72hz. 72fps is much better than 60fps reprojected to 120fps.
Wi-Fi 6 does not support 6 GHz frequency. 6 GHz is only supported from Wi-Fi 6E and its successor. Please correct that mistake. In my experience even Wi-Fi 5 is fine as long as the PC is connected with the Ethernet cable to the Quest’s access point. That’s way more important than the Wi-Fi version (as long as it’s not using 2.4 GHz). Regarding Air Link since you haven't been using it in a while… FYI, it got much better so it's worth checking but since everyone’s conditions are different, your results may vary. Considering that I wouldn't disrecommend that option straight away as it sometimes works better than VD and it’s free.
Could you, please try to compare playing PCVR games via ALVR on Apple Vision Pro Vs playing PCVR games on PSVR 2. This is interesting because Apple Vision Pro has much higher resolution, but wireless streaming may introduce compression artefacts. Whereas PSVR 2 has much lower resolution, but no compression. So whether there is a clear winner in terms of PCVR visuals among these two OLEiD headsets?
Index is trash in 2024 ok not really, I still have my Oculus CV1 which I like, but for the price the Index is (not just the up-front but the inevitable maintenance), it doesn't make sense to buy at all. If the Index was $200, maybe.
Once, I made an angry reddit post about wires when I was playing Beat Saber on the PSVR 1. I got caught on the wire and missed one of the last beats during a perfect performance. Then, the redditors lectured me. Zero latency is much better than slight improve in clarity. It's like picking Performance Mode over Fidelity Mode. 75% of people choose performance. When the PSVR2 had a wire, I think I was upset. But now I've accepted that it has a benefit. AND the best part is they moved the wire to the back.
maybe its just because i was an avid cv1 user when it came out, but I cant stand wireless lol. even on the quests linked with a cable, there is still some noticeable latency. that's why I opted for a non-standalone headset this time around :)
I think if you want standalone VR the Quest 3 is the best choice, but if you want the best visuals with the most impact while playing games like Half Life Alyx the PSVR2 with its OLED displays and its artifact free lossless displayport streaming technology is the clear winner not just against the Quest 3 but against any none local dimming LCD equipped PCVR headset,. Even the bigscreen beyond does not really compete because even though it has OLED displays it suffers from lens glare problems and a noticeably smaller FOV its also $1600 with controllers, the Pimax Crystal headsets are ridiculously oversized for the FOV that they provide. But like you say there are also some truly spectacular PSVR2 exclusives to play on the PS5 that you will only find on the PS5, the digital version of the PS5 is so chap these days, it is also 5 times more powerful than a Quest 3 and that is before you engage the DFR technology, when DFR is engaged the power of the PSVR2 jumps by a factor of 3.6X so is similar in power to an RTX3090, this is why No Mans Sky looks and plays so well on the PSVR2.but is difficult to run well on a high end PC, which says a lot in itself. I think Sony have a great product on their hands with the PSVR, PC compatibility is just the sweet icing on the cake.
Sorry, but you're obviously bias towards PSVR2. There's no way you own any of the other headsets if you think PSVR2 is the best out of the 4 you've mentioned. Each of them have their own flaws but in term of pure experience, PSVR2 is at the bottom of the 4.
@@Momotaro0125 Not biased just more impressed by the PSVR2, and I put it at number 1 by a long way. Its not just the Micro OLED displays and Displayport technology, but its that perfect resolution for a great VR experience with zero artifacting and without the need to upgrade the PC to drive those beautiful Micro OLED displays, Sony have not even turned on the HDR feature yet. You could plug the PSVR2 to the last Gen GPU and still get a great experience at its native resolution, but you cannot do that with a Pimax Crystal you will need at least a 4090 to run that headset at is native resolution on high details, so that is why the PSVR2 is the number 1 PCVR headset to buy right now, it just makes a lot of sense. Not forgetting there are the exclusive PSVR2 games if you have a PS5 including the definitive version of No Mans Sky which uses eye tracking technology on the PSVR2, what is not to like?
@@techinfusions Ok, I see. You're misinformed and definitely never owned the other 3 headsets. PSVR2 doesn't have a MicroOLED display. It has OLED but not Micro. BSB has MicroOLED displays. This is why PSVR2 has a bad mura problem and none on the BSB. BSB also has a wider sweet spot due to the pancake lenses. Nowhere near as good as the Quest 3 edge to edge clarity but it's about 40% better than the PSVR2. You do need the foam mask to fit perfectly though, otherwise the sweet spot can be almost as bad as the PSVR2. PML also has no mura. Better sweet spot than BSB but not as good as Quest 3. The higher resolution is an option not a requirement, it'll be as clear as PSVR2 using the same resolution. It also has OLEDs. Main flaw with it, is weight. Quest 3 is by far the clearest and widest sweet spot, covering about 85-90% of the screen. It has LCD panels so pretty bad color and black. Since it's LCD, no mura, unless defect. Reason why PSVR2 is at the bottom of the 4 for me, is mainly due to the horrible 10 years+ old lenses. Come with them, the terrible sweet spot. Immersion breaking mura, and just bad as BSB, lens glare. Source: I've owned 3 of the 4 and have used PML a few times from a friend. Next time, at least do your homework.
I let my eyes do the homework, because that is all that really matters. I am seeing many committed Quest 3 fanboys like yourself fall at the feet of the PSVR2 and declare it the new king of PCVR headsets, they are finding that the lossless display port video stream and lack of artifacts to be a revelation, many are replaying their old PCVR classics all over again because they feel like they are really seeing their games for the very first time, comments like "this feels like a whole new experience" are common.. The Big Screen Beyond has really bad lens glare problems with its pancake lenses they also suck the light out of oled displays so not as vibrant as the PSVR2 lenses, and at $1600 with the controller that very expensive. The Quest 3 suffers the same light loss issues through itss pancake lenses why did Meta cheap out on the local dimming LCD displays of the Quest Pro? very disappointing, almost as bad as the lack of a displayport. Fresnel lenses are made for OLED they hold the light really nicely, and the sweet spot is just nice unless you are lazy and upset easy, but once you are in the sweet spot the edge to edge clarity is easily as good as any Pancake lens. You must never have experienced No Mans Sky on the PSVR2 to say that its lenses are horrible that sounds like uniformed hate speech to me. How long have you been beaming those powerful 4k wifi signals to that head mounted receiver, are they starting to effect your judgment?
I still think if you’re talking about all around experience, the Quest is the better head set (on board games, huge PC support, better lenses, wireless, pancake lenses) but the PSVR 2 on its own with a PS5 was the best, most immersive gameplay experience I’ve had with VR to date. There’s nothing quite like those OLED lenses with eye tracking and HDR on Gran Turismo 7. I have both and find myself going back and forth with both of them.
I'd love to see a pancake lense hmd with Oled panels inside. I know pancake lenses take a high amount of brightness to function but it would really be the best as far as quality.
I really like this vid. Got both hmds and they have their own pros and cons. Air link is the least user friendly, but the most customisable, esp. if you like high encoding bitrates. And if you are looking for the best wireless pcvr solution, you might wanna go for a wifi6e router with 6ghz band - esp. if you live in urban areas with a lot of neighbours running their own wifis.
I think they only make the headset strap after the time battery should last , like 2h. Wifi 6 doesn't have 6ghz band, wifi 6 does so you can use 5ghz band in faster modes.
Great video Marty. I use my Oculus Quest 1 (yep, the old one, with nice OLED screen ánd wifi) to play PC games with Virtual Desktop. I also have a Meta Quest 2. But I love horror games, so, mostly i just stick with my Quest 1, until its internal battery dies and it turns into a doorstop.
I just got my psvr2 the other day and it is absolutely amazing. After I got the settings and screen size fixed OMG it was freaking awesome. I drive in GT7 a bunch, actually quite often. After I got the screen size dialed in it was like I was sitting in an actual race car. My only issue is my big a$# nose & my eyes are too close together, so I have to have the lenes really close together so they pinch the center of my nose. I fixed that little problem by putting a band aid over the center of my nose and that kinda works for now. But OMG they are awesome. Hard to back to a flat screen now. There's my two cents. Thanks for sharing this video, it was perfect. Cheers & happy gaming.
thank you so much for what you said in the beginning of the video. im also unbiased with vr head set and i agree 100% with what you said. im honestly tiered of people saying that other head sets are better than others when it should just depend on the person on what they want. like people should ask people what they want in a vr head set so you could help them choose the right head set for them. i have tested many head sets to and it really dose depend on what you want in a head set instead of going with something you might not like you know. so thank you for what you said
Some are objectively better. The PSVR2 is literally the worst VR device you could possibly buy for one simple fact: It's rendered useless when the controllers die (unless your only game is GT7) because Sony refuse to sell replacement controllers. They're also Sense controllers, notorious for failing. Both of mine got stick drift after a year, now neither thumb stick works and one doesn't track well. If I had a Meta 3, I could replace the controllers. As is, I have a useless device I spent nearly $1k on that I can't even sell because most people don't just want to play GT7!
@@TKD_Link you can use it on the pc and its one of the only CHEAP head sets that lets you get oled at a high resolution and just charge your controllers next time i guess and if your getting drifting problems with the controllers welcome to vr must be your first time because other head sets have that to and im no PlayStation fan boy i just want to make that clear
Thank you for this review. So many Quest fanboys are shitting on the PSVR2 and making it seem much worse than it is. I've been looking for a good PCVR headset to replace my Valve Index, which is showing its age. I can't stand the Quest's compression and I had constant issues during my time with it. Would the PSVR2 be a good upgrade for an Index user?
I went from the HTC Vive to the Quest 2 and now the Quest 3. I have my PC on the 2nd level of my house. My router is on the 1st level but a network cable does go to the PC. The PC experience with the Quest 2/3 has been very bad. I have tried so many different things and it just doesn’t work well and I kind of miss my Vive for the PC experience. However, I love the Q2/Q/3 for stand alone. Now that the PSV2 is available for PC…it just seems like a no brainer for me because even though I like wireless…I was use to a wire with the Vive. I don’t listen to fanboys…
I also have the Index and I did purchase the PSVR2 when it went on sale. Unfortunately I can't find the PC adapter but playing on the PS5 I will say IMHO it's graphics are very similar to the Index. It is way easier to setup and use but until I try it on PC I'm still up in the air
@@Vohaul214 Have you checked if your GPU has a VirtualLink port? If your GPU has one, you don't need the adapter. I have an AMD RX 7900 XT and I have one, which is one reason I'm interested in the PSVR 2.
The compression is pure BS The Quest 3 looks crystal clear when playing PC games, if you don't have a good router get a cable Quest is much better if you start looking for the pros and cons First of all it's a complete hardware, capable of browsing the web, watching youtube, and running games instead of just a PS5 VR headset that needs a $50 adapter on PC Second it's mixed reality which offers capabilities like Apple Vision Pro Third there are actual exclusive games announced, Batman Arkham Shadow PSVR2 will probably die in a few months, Sony will abandon the ship and this PC adapter was just to get rid of stock
Im genuinely undecided on which VR to get but my question is IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A PC but DO have a ps5 which VR is more worth it ? I feel like the obvious answer is psvr2 but I’m still not sure.
I have both because people were saying PSVR2 is so good etc and tbh it feels a bit cheap it has plastic lenses where my quest 3 has glass lenses and it just feels like a more premium product the quest 3 but as for visual quality they are about the same. and I mainly bought the PSVR2 because I hate seeing battery go down. But then you have the exact same problem with the PSVR2 controllees. Plus the Mura is terrible on the PSVR2 I was shocked how bad it is. like looking through lint cloth sometimes. I might send the PSVR2 back to amazon yet and just swallow the adaptor co's doubt sony would let me return it.I am gonna give it a while see if my opinion changes.
It pretty much is literally lint cloth behind the lenses. They were trying to hide the horrid screen door effect of the displays they chose. It was not a great choice by Sony. From what I read, this was delayed by COVID and might have made more sense when released early in Quest 2 lifecycle.
I have a living room with lots of space and a pretty modern mid range pc, so i use it for an index setup. My bedroom has my main gaming pc and i was wanting a sit down vr headset, so I've kinda came to these 2. Between these 2 and the index everything is always compromises in vr lol. Maybe asking for base station, knuckle controllers, displayport, oled, pancake lenses, and a giant fov is too much to ask.
Great comparion! I was tempted by the PSVR 2 sale but I have a Quest 3 with a Bobo S3 Pro, and WiFi 6 router so Virtual Desktop runs amazingly well on my RTX 3080 desktop. That said, if they somehow unlock the extra features and it goes back on sale for $350 for Black Friday, I might snag one.
@@TheVRResistance Yeah I believe so too. I have a ton of PCVR games I got on sale over the years that I didn't touch so I finally got a chance to play them on my Q3. Playing them in OLED would be nice but I'll be patient.
Honestly, in this scenario, I'd say save your money for something better. You could splurge and get the Pimax Crystal Light for $799 or $899 and get FAR better visuals than PSVR2
If the Quest 3 was actually common to see for 420$, it'd be no contest, but if you actually look, best price you'll find it 560$ and most average is 620-660$
If I may speak for myself: on PS5 I've never experienced a significant mura effrct. When playing Resident Evil or The Walking Dead and being in a dark room without lights, its really dark like in real life. But I've heard it can depend on the model....
Imagine yourself looking through a goggle, mura is a thin layer of dirt that's there but you could kind of forget about it if you focus on anything else. The effect is consistent through out. Glare are bright spots that smear out. Overall, PSVR2 is not a very clean experience.
I have both. The PSVR2 is worse in a lot of areas for me than compared to the Quest 3. The comfort of the PSVR2 is way worse, though my Quest 3 uses a 3rd party head strap. My huge ass nose gets pinched by the lenses and to get a clear image I have to tighten the headset in a way that just feels uncomfortable. I love the OLED colors and deep blacks, but the perceived lower resolution, black smearing and chromatic aberration I get ruin it. I had no issues with the setup and the controllers track fairly well, but the batteries lasted about 2 days before I had to charge them again. Compared to my Quest 3 that I still haven't replaced the batteries for. The PSVR2 controllers are also annoying to "get on". Anyway, I'm gonna sell my PSVR2.
Some people see mura and some do not which is strange so it must be down to our vision. My mate tried my psvr2 on and he saw no mura but unfortunately I do hmmm. Love the pancake lenses but I do not like the greyish black and muted colours that the quest 3 has.
Only thing I don't like about psvr2 is the Mura. Which I know a lot of people say they don't see it, or it's not too bad on their set... it's really bad on mine. Only reason I might get a Q3 is for that clear picture
Hey my friend thanks for the video, i wanted to let you know if you sign up to Amazon affiliate program which is easy to do, you get a link for any of the devices you mention and if you leave those links in your description and we buy it you get paid as well. Just thought i'd help you so you don't leave any money on the table. Thanks again for this video, it helped me tremendously, take care!
PSVR2 is cool but Quest 3 wins. That's what I bought anyway. But I agree, VR is the future and I'm happy to see people buying Sony's headset. The VR industry needs all the support it can get.
@@AlexanderTCardosi Agreed I dont like when someone says one is better and they dont own both. PCVR2 is amazing with PCVR and blown away by the PCVR adapter. I am replaying my PCVR games all over again! The Quest 3 controllers are not comfortable and small for my hands. For stand alone quick sessions Quest is OK but people are sleeping on the PSVR2 hardware. Its better in every way than Quest 3. The controllers are rechargeable and the rumble is like 4x greater. Makes gun games more realistic for me.
I saw another video from someone else making this same comparison. He picked Quest 3 because he said the clarity was better and he got motion blur on PSVR2.
I like this review Marty, but you are like some of us enthusiasts. I have a vive pro, cosmos elite and a psvr2, the first two i have added the lens mod to, the psvr2 sits a lot but I am going to try the pcvr side of it when an adapter is available, they are sold out everywhere. My vive pro and cosmos elite are unbeatable in resolution and clarity and the fov matches the psvr 2 almost, I've owned almost all vr headsets and these are the ones I've stuck with, the psvr2 was more or less a trade deal I did with my brother, it was a huge disappointment for us in the VR world. If you haven't had a vive pro, cosmos elite with the gear lens mod then you have no idea what crazy good vr is like. I run a 4080 super , 13900k pc with mine and close or far the clarity is always clear, there is almost no sweet spot, no ghosting, and no glare, it is as perfect as I've seen vr.
PSVR2 vs Quest 3 is just color/black vs clarity. To me, if the PSVR2's clarity is just about 30% better, it would've been a clear winner for people that don't care for the wireless/standalone experience. But the fresnel lenses are especially terrible on this headset.
@@samandaryakubov9174 One is a complete hardware ready to browse the web, watch youtube, play games and use mixed reality apps, which can be connected to a PC without any cables. The other is just a VR headset to connect on PS5 or PC (with a separate $50 adapter), we can clearly see which one is a no brainer here...
If PSVR2 just didn't have a diffuser over the lenses to blur out the screen door effect, it would be a winner. Micro-OLED displays with pancake lenses at around 2800 x 2800 resolution and a wired connection would be incredible. Sounds a lot like Pimax Crystal Light...
I'm thinking... Quest 3 is better for movies. Higher resolution and far far better lenses. PSVR2 needs a v2.0 with less mura, no screen diffuser, and aspheric or pancake lenses.
My pc has been wifi 6e antenna and I connect my quest 3 to the pc hotspot. It’s fantastic. On the other hand, for my psvr2 I connect the controllers the pc Bluetooth and it’s amazing. I basically need to keep my quest 3 plugged in while I use because that shit dies way too fast. So personally. I enjoy my PSVR2 more. Also, for the quest 3, take off the facial interface. Gives you a better fov.
I love my index I think base stations tracking is the best form of tracking. I can also say the quest for PC VR isn't for me I hate streaming VR and the PS VR2 isn't bad I love the OLED screens but being stuck in 120hz mode kinda sucks I tried the PS VR2 on my old PC I haven tried it on my main PC yet due to no Bluetooth.
Sweet Spot.. Wins it for me.. And Q3 has the biggest Sweet Spot, therefore it's clear edge to edge than Psvr2, blur and Mura on Psvr2 also a issue but you have buy wearable accessories to make it disappear...
I have no problem getting my Q3/rtx4090 running PCVR very well (including complex flight sims like msfs2020). Wired with Link or wireless with Air Link (or Virtual Desktop). Like everything VR, it comes down to your setup and settings imho. If you're enjoying your psvr2 and found it easier to setup, that's great mate!
@@amazin7006 No VR headsets are plug and play yet. Except for the only native SteamVR headsets (=Index, OG Vive and OG Vive Pro1) all others require additional apps. Maybe one day they will all be standardized to OpenXR. Meta Q2/3/Pro currently have the most alternative ways to connect with PCVR. Wired with Link or ALVR, and wireless with Air Link, Virtual Desktop, ALVR, and Steam Link.
Still depends. I have a PS5 with GT7 and RE 4 and village already, and honestly since im currently ONLY using it for gaming it feels to me that it has more Pros because its pros are more relevant to me at least.
hey ik there is like no chance you will see this but for my birthday(which is coming up in less than a month from now) idk which one to pick up< Q3 or psvr 2. i am going to be playing a lot of vr horror games but the mura effect might ruin the games i am gonna be playing, in the other hand the Q3 is lcd and not oled so idk wgat to pick, pls help me
Well, I bought a quest 3 after thinking so long, it's gonna come this week. I have a ps5 and could buy a psvr2, but quest 3 is more than a vr to play games, you can much more, as emulation, no cable, using on your bed, put mods and these things called my attention. It doesnt have the best graphics, but soon, the devolpers gonna reach the limits of this hardware, i belive. After some years when psvr2 being cheapest, I buy it, but for now, I choose quest 3
So basically, if the meta had display ports, id definitely get it. But now im considering the psvr2 instead. Witj the money I save, I can upgrade my sim pedals also that way
@@MartydudeVR absolutely. Up until this point I found it to be the best all rounder for PCVR. The only thing that bothers me with the pro is the amount of bloom with local dimming. There are occasions where dark scenes can “fog” up the entire lens. I’m finding the PSVR2 to be much more immersive overall.
Onboard bluetooth 5 is way better. most people having uissues are using the dongles and the only people having issues with their internal bluetpooth are ones that haven't updated their bluetooth drivers and when they do many are then having no problems from what I have seen. I had no problems
I’m guessing most people are having Bluetooth issues also due to some kind of obstruction. VR your standing much farther away than playing normal games on the computer. And most peoples computers aren’t just out in the open. Line of sight is important for Bluetooth.
I feel both headsets are suitable for playing games on the PC. I have had the Quest 3 long before this adapter module cane out and the Quest 3 does a great job of visually running my SIM racing and Action shooter games. I do not need to buy another headset at this time. Now, it is just up to the VR buyer which one to choose to play games on a PC computer and how much they are willing to spend for VR. Just do your homework and watch allot of comparison videos to determine which one is better to play the games you have. That is what I did before I bought the Quest 3 end of last year. Thanks for your great video review of the two VR headsets.
What's your specs? I have a 1660 ti and use a quest 1. I also sim racing and also rally, it's very hard to see ahead of the road with the graphic settings I have to play on. Do you know if the quest 3 would solve this issue?
You don't need a PSVR2 if you have a Quest 3. Correct. If you have a PSVR2 and a Quest 3, I bet you'd use the PSVR2 for PCVR. Unless you are playing an active game where the cable gets in the way, then you'd probably stick with the Quest 3.
Right, but you also bought before pcvr was an option in psvr2. Would you still recommend MQ3 for sim racing now? That's what I want to use VR for too. But better fov and low latency both sound like things id want in my sims including in warthunder. If the resolution was still good enough that id not be bothered by it, then i might go psvr2 instead now. But has latency and compression ever been an issue for you? Would i regret it if I did go with the MQ3 seeing as sim racinh will be the primary application?
Man, I just don't get the circular-logic of buying a Quest 3 for "better clarity and resolution" when the signal you're getting from PCVR is going to be compressed to hell and back. Lol It's too bad there's nothing else on the market in this price-range, both of them have some dealbreaking issues for someone that already owns a Quest 2.
@@MartydudeVR I just don't understand how you can have a messed up image and call it 8K I guess. I mean when a video is streaming on RUclips in 4K and it's buffering at 480, I guess I just never considered it 4K still.
You can view a crappy 480p VCR display on your 4K TV. That is what Quest 3 is doing with it's compression. You get a crystal clear view of highly compressed video. With virtual desktop and a 4090 it can be minimized, but with lesser video cards the effect is very noticeable compared to wired PCVR
I agree with what you said about more people using VR. Now that I have the new PSVR2 adapter . I find I’m playing more games on PC. My Bluetooth works perfectly with my AM4 X570 Motherboard and connected first time around. I haven’t had any disconnects so far 🤞. Since I’ve already purchased the PSVR2 when it was released. Buying the adapter was a no-brainer. Good review.
@@TheVRResistance Congratulations on the new computer. My Motherboard has Bluetooth 5.0 which is what the adapters use that Sony suggest on their website. I think as long as you have Bluetooth 5.0 or higher you should be fine.
Finally someone answered clearly to my question, i am an obsessed with the clarity, resolution and hate sde. Thanks. I use my q3 with link cable at 960 mbps, honestly i am unable to see compression, so makes me wonder how the hell the compression looks like, because every one keeps talking of it, i thought that compression results in less clarity ou or less sharper image. Can someone explain to me plz ?
Good comparison. I think one of the big factors is if you have a PS5 or not. If you do, the PSVR2 is more attractive since you get a headset for 2 platforms. If you don't, the Quest 3 might be better to have access to standalone VR that's more portable if you want to take it to friends houses. And of course if you've already got a PSVR2 for your PS5, the adaptor is a great value for making it PC compatable.
Something not mentioned very often is that the Quest 3 is about to get foveated eye tracking via an add-on from Inseye Lumi for $160. Now, with that said, I still prefer the OLEDs on PSVR2 :)
I am so happy with the pancake lenses on the quest 3, and honestly quest 3 wins but the OLED makes it close. We NEEEED an oled quest. Somtimes I still yearn for my old quest 1 cuz of the oled.
Same here. It had bad resolution and screen door effect but the OLED made such an impact on anyone who tried it that Quest 2 and Quest 3 didn't come close to doing.
@@MartydudeVR You did, but you also did not mention the fact that it may never go on sale again. You just said it’s a great deal on sale at 350. It may never be 350 again or on sale again so I guess in my opinion it should not be mentioned at all about being 350 since it may never happen again.
I dont think pc has games that support eye tracking so or rendering based on eye movement so that might be one reason why there is no support by sony either.
PSVR2 is great if you have a PS5. GT7 and the Resident Evil games are some of the best vr titles I've played. But only for PC I'd go for the Quest 3 or Pimax
Psvr2 is a great headset that got killed by terrible Bluetooth controllers , it’s a nightmare to get them to track properly and when they do it would be for a minute, I have a high end pc (4090 with an i13900k) , tried the bloody tp link, tried the wifi antenna, updated drivers, disabled other Bluetooth devices, talked to the controllers, still garbage
@@stylewan It’s a lot of effort setting up virtual desktop and the router too 😅 The fidelity increase is a lot too with a wire. Nofi has a wireless solution without these tradeoffs. Hopefully one day they get implemented into something like a quest, but meta doesn’t give a shit about pcvr. That’s why virtual desktop is so much better than oculus airlink
Here's the real facts. Sony make garbage controllers, and you can't replace the PSVR2 controllers. You'd have to be a moron to buy a PSVR2 today. My controllers died after 17 months. Bought on release. So now I have a useless headset. Meta 3 beats Sony garbage in every area. Doesn't matter how good it looks, it's made completely useless the minute the notoriously shitty made sense controllers break.
Hope yall enjoyed this review / comparison! Took a LOT of late night editing and I do apologize for any mistakes! Make sure yall like and sub! Trying to hit 10k on the channel. ALSO JOIN THE DISCORD!
Every video I have watched thusfar of you has audio latency. The audio is not properly syncing with the movement of your lips. Maybe something to have a look at.
@wolliebolly Yeah I'm not sure what the issue is there. I record at 60 fps on OBS and my camera at 4k 30 🤔 What do you think?
@MartyDudeVR I have AT&T as well. Fiber in fact. You absolutely can use your own router with their service. You just log into their gateway and turn off the router function then install the router behind the gateway and configure as normal. Have that setup at home with a TP-Link WiFi6 6000 router and AT&T’s older fiber gateway.
That would be sicj
I hope Meta puts OLED lenses with higher resolution on their Quest 4, if they do, I'd buy it right away.
If they don't put OLED in the Quest 4 then they will continue to lose billions of dollars because people are sick of playing in crappy LCD.
Micro-OLED is the future I swear!
Pancake lens >>>>> OLED display
I love my PSVR2 and have had zero issues with my controllers
@AlexanderTCardosi Good for you? Are you looking for a medal or something for still having working controllers from the scummy company that expects you to buy a new headset when those shoddy controllers break?

Best and most honest review i have seen.
😭 You don't know how great that feels to hear!
The TP-Link dongle didn’t work well for me. My motherboard has antennas for Bluetooth and WiFi, so I removed them and bought an antenna extension cable. The tracking is now perfect and never fails.
Great review, Gt7 with the Psvr2, steering wheel and peddles attach to a frame and bucket seat is all I need. All the best from England UK ❤
Of all VR headsets, in your opinion which is the best gaming experience overall
Unbiased reviews and no fanboying? I'm here for it! Subbed! My PSVR2 has gathered dust pretty much since I bought it, maybe this will help me dust it off. Cheers for a great video.

Marty, I still can't decide whether to buy a PS VR2 or not? Many people speak negatively about them and praise Meta Quest 3. Which is better to take?
I use PS5
Do you want a wired or wireless experience?
@ Preferably wireless, but I'm more concerned about the quality of the games. And it seems that there are larger projects on Meta Quest 3, but I would really like to play projects that were not released on Quest 3, Pavlov, for example, the wire on PSVR2 is a little confusing, but it is 4 meters, it’s hard to stumble, it seems, but I’m still I see more negative reviews on Amazon and I'm thinking about buying Quest 2 or Quest 3
@@sigmaproman534 If you have Wifi 6 and your PC is directly connected to your router with ethernet, get Quest 3. If not, get PSVR2
@@MartydudeVR Thank you so much👍
This is my totally unbiased opinion here and I'll start by saying, i strongly dislike Meta in general but:
I vastly prefer the Meta Quest 3 over the PSVR2.
Working on that 🔥
The OLED and LCD are acually the screen type. The PSVR2 lenses are an inferior version of Pancake lenses, the Quest 3 has pancake lenses.
PSVR2 lenses are inferior by design. They are trying to hide screen door effect of cheap displays they chose

@@Cleanin83 Best way to go 🔥
Just an FYI.
Thats a cool setup idea. Didn't know you could do that
Thanks for the comparison video
Thanks for watching!
Thanks man. I hit you with that vr rock promo code to help out. Really liked this review
Awesome thank you!
Really chill explanation and good info. Subbed!
Thanks!
Now my questions:
Can I charge the PSVR2 while playing?
And its better to have the 72hz and 80hz option when needed than it is to not have the option
This hurt PSVR2 when it came to the PS5 aswell.
Valve index has magnetic face interface from factory.
Index is trash in 2024
ok not really, I still have my Oculus CV1 which I like, but for the price the Index is (not just the up-front but the inevitable maintenance), it doesn't make sense to buy at all.
@@Momotaro0125When it comes to PC experience…the Quest is at the bottom of all 4.
I have Quest 3 but I use Quest 1 for indoor VR horror games
Cheers & happy gaming.
thank you so much for what you said in the beginning of the video. im also unbiased with vr head set and i agree 100% with what you said. im honestly tiered of people saying that other head sets are better than others when it should just depend on the person on what they want. like people should ask people what they want in a vr head set so you could help them choose the right head set for them. i have tested many head sets to and it really dose depend on what you want in a head set instead of going with something you might not like you know. so thank you for what you said
@Pirafier Always a unbiased opinion over here brother 🙌🏿🔥
@@MartydudeVR nice. its all ways good to be unbiased when talking about vr stuff
Some are objectively better.
The PSVR2 is literally the worst VR device you could possibly buy for one simple fact:
It's rendered useless when the controllers die (unless your only game is GT7) because Sony refuse to sell replacement controllers.
@Pirafier Dear god.
Look up what stick drift actually is before trying to imply I'm the VR newb, dipshit.
Most definitely and cheaper.
The compression is pure BS
The Quest 3 looks crystal clear when playing PC games, if you don't have a good router get a cable
Quest is much better if you start looking for the pros and cons
First of all it's a complete hardware, capable of browsing the web, watching youtube, and running games instead of just a PS5 VR headset that needs a $50 adapter on PC
Second it's mixed reality which offers capabilities like Apple Vision Pro
Third there are actual exclusive games announced, Batman Arkham Shadow
PSVR2 will probably die in a few months, Sony will abandon the ship and this PC adapter was just to get rid of stock
Im genuinely undecided on which VR to get but my question is IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A PC but DO have a ps5 which VR is more worth it ? I feel like the obvious answer is psvr2 but I’m still not sure.
Id say PSVR2!
Thank you so much for this video. I had this exact question and im so happy to have found some answere
Glad it was helpful!
What flight simulation game are you showing in the “Which is For You?” Section?
Project Wingman - PCVR
I think it's possible it might hit $350 again! Good luck!
@7:50 the Index also has a magnetic facial interface.
If the Quest 3 was actually common to see for 420$, it'd be no contest, but if you actually look, best price you'll find it 560$ and most average is 620-660$
These are the questions I have right now
This is the most lucid review i ever seen. Congrats VR needs more people like you.
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm glad you found the review helpful.
Many thanks, could you please elaborate more about the glares and mura on PSVR2 that some are talking about, only if you have experience it of course.
"Not very clean"
Thats true. Its like wearing glasses which you havent cleaned for a while
I have both.
Glad you're enjoying your Q3! Just happy you're playing VR man
I prefer the PSVR2
Controller batteries lasted 2 days?? I hear they usually last 2 hours when used with PS5. Maybe it's the adaptive triggers chewing through batteries
Some people see mura and some do not which is strange so it must be down to our vision. My mate tried my psvr2 on and he saw no mura but unfortunately I do hmmm. Love the pancake lenses but I do not like the greyish black and muted colours that the quest 3 has.
I didn't know some people couldn't see it. Has he ever used any other VR headsets?
@@MartydudeVR yes he tried my old index a while back
If u wear some glasses that has green tint it takes the Mura out from what I heard
@@dustincriddle it certainly does mate , that's what I do
Great video! 👍
@@Zerioku Thanks!
“It wins because it’s the one I own” isn’t a great argument 😂 I have both and like both but for PCVR the PSVR2 wins.
@@fremont66 damn VIVE Pro hits like that? May be time to look into it
Subbed…You actually want wifi6e if you’re looking for 6ghz …wifi6 oddly still uses 5ghz band
I have a Quest 3 but will buy the PSVR2 soon. Quest 3 will have Batman, big plus there. Wifi 6E router FTW not just for Q3 but for everything
PSVR2 vs Quest 3 is just color/black vs clarity.
To me, if the PSVR2's clarity is just about 30% better, it would've been a clear winner for people that don't care for the wireless/standalone experience. But the fresnel lenses are especially terrible on this headset.
It was 350$ for a week until the PC adapter launched. Compared to Quest 3's price it's a no brainier. Well, for new customers that is.
Is the psvr2 good for watching movies and sports?
I'm thinking... Quest 3 is better for movies. Higher resolution and far far better lenses. PSVR2 needs a v2.0 with less mura, no screen diffuser, and aspheric or pancake lenses.
Oled makes big difference, I don't have PSVR2 but I still use my Quest 1 to play PC VR horror games, cause of warm and vitality of the image

Couldn’t get the quest 3 to work for shit on my high end rig. Psvr2 was plug and play much better experience for me
I have no problem getting my Q3/rtx4090 running PCVR very well (including complex flight sims like msfs2020). Wired with Link or wireless with Air Link (or Virtual Desktop). Like everything VR, it comes down to your setup and settings imho. If you're enjoying your psvr2 and found it easier to setup, that's great mate!
Same here, the fact that you need a separate program and a META account is so lame. Why can't these companies just make it plug and play?
@@amazin7006 No VR headsets are plug and play yet. Except for the only native SteamVR headsets (=Index, OG Vive and OG Vive Pro1) all others require additional apps. Maybe one day they will all be standardized to OpenXR.

Hi! Do you have a PC? That'll affect my answer for sure
@@MartydudeVR yes I have a rtx 3070 on my pc
I don’t have a ps5 btw
@@MartydudeVR hello?
Well, I bought a quest 3 after thinking so long, it's gonna come this week. I have a ps5 and could buy a psvr2, but quest 3 is more than a vr to play games, you can much more, as emulation, no cable, using on your bed, put mods and these things called my attention. It doesnt have the best graphics, but soon, the devolpers gonna reach the limits of this hardware, i belive. After some years when psvr2 being cheapest, I buy it, but for now, I choose quest 3
For me the psvr 2 is more comfortable with glasses or without glasses
So basically, if the meta had display ports, id definitely get it. But now im considering the psvr2 instead. Witj the money I save, I can upgrade my sim pedals also that way
I prefer the PSVR2 for OLED, better binocular overlap, larger FOV, no compression, and less latency. My Quest Pro and 3 are now retired from PCVR.
Quest Pro is massively underrated
My ASUS TUF WIFI motherboard has Bluetooth 5.2 and works great with the psvr2
Man, I just don't get the circular-logic of buying a Quest 3 for "better clarity and resolution" when the signal you're getting from PCVR is going to be compressed to hell and back. Lol
It's too bad there's nothing else on the market in this price-range, both of them have some dealbreaking issues for someone that already owns a Quest 2.
Compression and higher resolution in the same sentence when describing the quest 3 has never made sense to me lol
Those two things are very different. The compression comes from the VR streaming. You can have 8K resolution and have compression messing the image up
@@MartydudeVR I just don't understand how you can have a messed up image and call it 8K I guess.
@@jlepage36 exactly, I agree. Quest 3 has horrible resolution no matter how you describe it in my opinion lol.

Can someone explain to me plz ?
You'd literally have to try a PCVR headset to understand. Not even joking 😭
#team psvr 2 ❤😊

PSVR2 is superior, OLED display and HDR, adaptive triggers and haptic feedback. Its more advanced!!

Seems like you can get the best of both worlds now .
Quest 3 by a country mile.
Pancake lenses alone makes it an easy decision.
