Hi guys, I have recently just stripped and sanded my staircase, aprox 90 years old, to finish with a coloured wax. Unfortunately where the 90 years of paint have been on the edges, the paint has protected that part so it is a lot whiter than the used centre section where there presumably used to be a stair carpet runner. If i wax the outsides first to build up the colour, then the whole section including the centres, will the colour match even? Thanks!
Hi, I have exact same problem, with my baker dining room table never realized until we put center leaf in at Christmas, we were devastated, In you video can you darken even more by adding more coats? will be sending you picture in near future, I have been watching your videos for over year now this is the one I have been hoping to find.
Hopefully u have you're answer by now .Many dining table leaves are darker as the table has lightened up and many times evenly having to do with light , it might be the dye in the table or it may be the dye in the finish , where his may be more of the finish breaking down , double check with him ,others God bless
Wow is this available in the states? And would it work as well on Rosewood? I have an antique rosewood dining room table I just purchased, and it has a square area that appears to be sun bleached.
Hi Gerri Yes it is available at the moment in the States, either by Amazon Prime or direct from us here. Although given the costs of Amazon 😳. We may just continue with shipping around the world, direct from our workshop. 🙂
I bought a teak dinning table , that had a table runner on it . There is lot's of sun fade around where the runner was . Do you have any recommendations?
I would suggest it probably needs stripping and refinishing. You can see me demonstrating how to do it here... ruclips.net/video/IpDg9S8tJeA/видео.html
Hi Pat. I don't think it will work on a sun faded dash. The wax needs to penetrate the through the finish. Dashboards have a very hard polyurethane coating on them that will prevent and transfer of colour. The only way to restore it is by removing the dash from the car and stripping the old finish off. Then re-polishing with a a durable high quality lacquer. I hope this helps. I did this very same process to my friends Triumph Vitesse dash and my Triumph Spitfire dash, 25 years ago!
@@GilboysRestoration thankyou I do plan to strip the dashboard and 2 door strips right back and would be very grateful if you could let me know where I can get all I need for this project thankyou in advance.
Should've shown the Gilboy's container so that one knows what they're looking for on the store shelves. Also, if it is a Brit, Aussie or whatever brand you might mention that and the fact it may not be available everywhere.
Hi Simon, If i used Gilboys 'ROSE GOLD' BEESWAX FURNITURE POLISH' on a badly damaged rosewood cabinet would it work as shown in the video? It seems too simple ...(!) The two tone colour on the cabinet is at least as bad as shown in your video, if not slightly worse. Many thanks in advance, Vicky
Hi Vicky, We cannot guarantee that it will work exactly like it did in this video but it should help. if you'd like feel free to send us some images of your piece of furniture and we can advise you best. kind regards Archie Newnham-Dibley
Hi, sorry for the delayed reply. I missed this question.: The effectiveness of a beeswax polish at restoring a faded colour will very much depend on how receptive the finish is... If the finish has dried out and looks 'hungry' then the chances of success is much greater. Harder surfaces with their finishes 'intact' are much less likely to react in a favourable way. The colour from the wax can't get past the old finish and little effect will be seen after applying the polish. Tired dry finishes are always the most successful I hope this helps Best wishes Simon
Hi,i have a Nathan teak media cabinet which is sun bleached and has the tv stand mark where the sun hasn't got to it.Do i need to strip it down to bare wood and then use your wax and will stripping remove the tv stand mark. Many thanks.
Hi Jeffrey How effective the wax will work at restoring the colour will be down to how dry and absorbent the surface is. My advice would be to apply the wax straight to the surface without stripping, you cant do any harm. You will know straight away if it works. If it doesn't then you can strip the surface back to bare wood, sand, seal and wax polish. Would you believe we are filming this exact process on G-Plan and Nathan furniture this weekend. (19th & 20th September 2020) It will be on our channel at the end of this month. Hit the subscribe button and notification icon and you will be notified as soon as it is released. Best wishes Simon
Will this product work on a built in book cabinet that has a combination stain and lacker finish on it. Cabinet has sun damage where books have sat idle for many years and the sun has faded the wood and stain leaving a perfect dark book shape in several places.
Impressive.
Do you have to strip off all the varnish before you do this?

Hi pat. I would suggest looking at www.jpennyltd.co.uk/
They have a comprehensive stock of restoration materials on their website.

Hi There,
Currently our wax is not available in stores, but it is available for purchase online with shipping available throughout the world.

Hi Jana, it's not likely that it will work on your book shelf. The Lacquer will be far too hard to allow the colour to penetrate.
I Hope This Helps
Would this work on an oak table that has a polyurethane seal on it?
Hi Eric,
No sadly not, polyurethane is just to hard to allow the colours from the polish to pass through
dont use that tape its useless!
