    That 'boo' sound bite is so good - I can hear one kid that just isn't pleased.

    Waw. What a great review.
    I have the 18-35mm f1.8 sigma but how do I distinguish between MC-21 adapters to adapte this lens. Will we get a review on these two adapters and how they physically look (EF to L and SA to L). A friend bought me the SA-L version and couldn't use it with the S5

    I don´t know what to do.. I´m still rocking the good old canon 1dx mark ii which has an apsc crop in 4k. I shot many wedding with the 24-70mm f4 is but kind am missing a wider angle (24mm = aprox. 32mm). I got a gimbal setup, so I don´t wanna switch lenses the whole day. Should I get the Sigma 18-35mm and film 99% of the day with that? But is it narrow enough at 35mm (50mm equivalent) or should I use both the 24-70 and sigma lens. I know how stressful a wedding day is and don´t wanna switch all the time and recalibrate the gimbal. Thanks for the help in advance.

    I see you have the Tokina CF Version(2019 release). Does that work with the viltrox on the GH5 as well? I've only gotten confirmation of it working on the 2nd gen(tokina 11-16 DX-II) for both the s5 and GH5. I also use these cameras for a multi-cam setup.

    How are these lenses for photography? If you were using the G9. as the primary camera would you change your recommendations?

    • @lyndonlabayan
      @lyndonlabayan  2 года назад +2

      Sorry the late reply and the lenses are NOT FUN for me for photography. I still try to use them because the images are fricken awesome but the 50-100 is ungodly heavy... plus the fact that it's on an adapter makes it feel like I'm gonna snap either ends of the couplers.

      Even with the latest firmware for the G9, Speedbooster XL and Sigma lenses, autofocus for photography is okay but not optimal. The 18-35 has a heavy focusing lens element that you can feel racking back and forth, and sometimes it just misses, even if it seems to focus.
      Native lenses are greatly preferable to adapted EF mount glass on the G9. The f1.8 and f1.2 primes from Olympus, the f1.7 primes and zooms from Panasonic, these will give you low light capabilities and great autofocus for stills.

    New Sub! Glad I found the channel. I shoot with the G9 but trying to make a decision whether to go with S5 or S1! Any issue with that micro HDMI on S5? Of those cameras, which is your favorite and why? Thanks!

      Thanks! I'm kinda in the same boat... I would wait for the GH6 announcement tbh. Sensor size doesn't mean shit to me but I need the video features and it would be nice to either be all m43 or all L mount. I don't use an external monitor so I can't comment on the mini HDMI port unfortunately.
      The S5 dual native ISO is what sold me (on-top of the other video features, included v log, 180 deg shutter, peaking/waveform) to use as a 3rd camera. Without that I probably would've gotten another gh5. Plus with the new batteries, they can be used in the g9 and gh5. For video, between the different battery, vlog paid upgrade and the mismatch card slots, the S1 didn't quite do it for me. S1H at the S1 price though... That woulda been nice.

      I do photography and am ALSO debating switching from G9 to S5. Biggest issue for me is if you slightly fall into low light the ISO starts degrading the image quickly. With the S5 deal that was running recently (free 85mm) I grabbed it and have about another week to test and decide if I want to keep it.
      My biggest thing is that the G9 is bigger and weighs similar to S5 and actually a lot of the glass for the S5 isn't huge or heavy. Zooms can obviously get VERY large and M43 does have some VERY small lenses. But if you want/need lower light performance the lenses on m43 get big and heavy.
      IDK. I am still up in the air. Would love to know what you did.

    I love love love my GH5 setup and lenses, but am feeling increasingly annoyed at missing low light photos and video… what are your thoughts on moving to the S5 or even S1 and how frustrating it’ll be to deal w the worse ibis and 4k 60 crop?

    • @lyndonlabayan
      @lyndonlabayan  2 года назад +1

      I think the only reason I don't mind the GH6/GH5 is because I have the S5 too. Also, the crop with the Sigma 18-35 is perfectly fine IMO, it has been my go to for low light and I love it.

    • @erbartlett
      @erbartlett 2 года назад

      @@lyndonlabayan that makes perfect sense. I’ve got to sell my GH5 and lenses to move to the S5, so I’m nervous I’ll feel the gap of the GH5… The S5 doesn’t fit as well in the hand, and those lenses are beefy… maybe I’ll rent one and get some shooting in before I switch

    • @geoniki1
      @geoniki1 2 года назад +1

      Do both! I kept my GH5 with the Sigma 18-35 setup, it is just too good! S5 will be for the lowlight shots. The lowlight is good even with the kit lens because of the dual native ISO. I plan on getting the 50, 85, and sigma 28-70.

      @@geoniki1 I'd love to, but the problem is travel, I can't travel with so much stuff. I really need one setup that can do everything. I'm thinking of the 24-105, and a 50mm

    Would it be possible to shoot entire weddings that are indoors on the Sigma 18-35 alone? Apartment/hotel rooms for prep, average size ballroom, etc?

    • @lyndonlabayan
      @lyndonlabayan  2 года назад +3

      Absolutely! After speedboosting on m43, it's more like a 25 to 50 so that's got you covered for pretty wide and medium. You'll want to walk close to really get tight but that's a great range. At 24fps, 180deg, you have some room for low light exposure. 1600 iso is usually the accepted maximum but 3200 works in a pinch. It's a great combo.
      The s5 is even better with that 4000 iso 2nd native option.

    So the Sigma 18-35, is APC-lens and you need use sigma mc21 converter?

    • @lyndonlabayan
      @lyndonlabayan  2 года назад +1

      Yes, the EF to L MC21. It's smart enough to know it's a crop and forces aps-c mode regardless of your framerate setting.

    • @lyndonlabayan

      Barely. AFC, never. I will use touch to focus in some cases but as a Lumix shooter, it's just best to manual focus when it counts.
