And after Shadowhearts storyline, Lae’zel is proud of her for freeing herself from Shar (if that scenario was chosen). Damn, the fact Lae’zel - who hated Shads in act I - is disappointed if you give her to the Sharans and points it out to you is such nice way of showing how they grew as characters.

laezel and shadowheart have combined approval in some instances. for example they both agree on accepting the wyvern poison in case you start transforming, and they both generally agree on not caring about random people's problems. their differences are mostly ideological and in their approach, but when it comes to their priorities they actually have a lot in common.
I would argue that Gale, Wyll and Astarion are the only cultured characters in the game. I'd say Lae'zel, but she has all the cultured essence of a Mormon missionary.

Both Gale and Astarion are slaves to their ambitions, Shadowheart and Lae'zel were both raised by cults and Wyll and Karlach are both naive fools who want to help others but instead end up getting exploited. These flaws are what makes these characters interesting.

When we meet Malus Thorm, the sick surgeon, Astarion is shocked, says he's as mad as Cazador, but Shadowheart agrees with this guy because he gabbled about Shar. Astarion had to embrace his dark side to survive his past. I can relate to that. But I can't relate to cruelty born from blind fate.
