- In today's video, i rank God of War Ragnarok realms from worst to best based on combat and structure first, and looks as a second.
This is all subjective and PLEASE remember that i'm having replayability in mind. So if Ironwood was REALLY GOOD the first time around, i get it, but it also has to be good on my 13th walkthrough as well... which it isn't.
.
I hope you all enjoy it and share your thoughts in the comments down below.

least we didn't have to experience goldbranch
although it does have insane depth when it comes to dating options 🥵
@@thonato295 Do you genuienly comment the Same thing everywhere?
@@astralchaos3441 eh I'd say 65% of the comments I send ain't like that
the rest are like that tho
@@thonato295 Fair. Were just asking, mate.
Personally believe that the final fight with odin should’ve had both Thor and Kratos team up to fight him at full power
Man, I remember the first time I played the Asgard part, it felt so realistic but videogame-like at the same time, Asgard is my fav realm
Asgard is probably the most beautiful video game location I ever saw. Like seriously I felt as if it is real that it exists somewhere lol
Really weird you didn't mention the crater in vanaheim, that singlehandedly made it the best realm for me
Trying to navigate the crater was so confusing my first play through lol
@@vincentfiore7588 tbh I kinda liked it cus for the most part in 2018 it felt to linear and straight ahead I liked how this game focused a bit more on verticality and in some instances multiple paths the crator did all that in spades.
@@BiscuitsAintShi Oh yeah it was great i do love it but Jesus Christ trying to find the area where you release the water was such a pain in the ass for me
Yeah, only god of war 4 Midgard tops it in my opinion, and it's really close
SAME and also the area around goddess falls Vanaheim has by far the most content
Vanaheim is my personal favorite. Endless exploration especially in the crater and sinkholes. They could make a whole game in Vanaheim if they really wanted to. The damn plants get annoying though!😂
Honestly I LOOVE the final Thor fight. For it looks like the really good balance between epicness and mechanics. The fight is mechanically rich, while still having some dope as§ cutscenes. I mean, the violent clashing of the axe and Mjornir is just 🔥
I do wish the fight moved around more. It would be awesome to fight Thor on the Wall before moving to the Einjehiar(?) training grounds and ending at the Great Lodge.
To call it worse than Baldur's Fight would be criminal.
Mechanically rich ?
Dope cutscenes !?!?
LolololololooooooooL
@@FallenOne669 you mean like how it happened in the first Thor fight?
@@astralchaos3441 Baldur's firsr fight is just regular combat with crazy cutscenes
Seeing the wall in Asgard for the first time blew me way I also think jotunheim was one of the better looking realms for sure but it’s gameplay sections and the way it disrupts pacing make it one of my least favorite realms
I haven't touched Ragnarök for a long time and not because I didn't like it, there are just so many great games to play. Even now I'm playing other games and slowly doing my Resident Evil marathon. But this video makes me wanna replay the game again on NG+. Nice list. I have quite the same ranking, but I prefer Vanaheim a lil bit over Svartalfheim because of the Crater, Nídhögg boss and the conversations between Kratos and Freya.
I get you.
Muspelheim > any other. Pure combat, pure gameplay.
I’d throw Vanaheim and Svartlfheim in their
The only thing fun about Muspelheim is Gńa. Everything else is ass. The combat challenges aren’t fun and it’s the same enemies over and over again. It has the third smallest map of the realms, the only ones smaller are jotunheim and Asgard which you only explore once. There is almost zero content there at all and the entire realm is literally a weird side quest. It’s not as bad as niflheim but it still sucks.
@@slipperydoorknob9950 no helheim is smaller than asgard and jotunheim and niflheim is also smaller
Lol
8:34 FINALLY someone agrees. While I wanted more spectacle out of the final Thor fight (same with the Odin fight), there’s so much to love about it. His upgraded move set is fun and fair to dodge. The dialogue. Matching his lightning state with Spartan rage. And the MUSIC in the 3rd phase…
Agree but most people want epicness more than mechanics
For me Asgard is one of the most gorgeous realms I have ever seen
I wish i could've explored it more, i really disliked sacrificing Asgard to save other realms and all comes to atreus and the giants and giving them the highest focus over other races like saying Odin learned magic from others when in mythology it was he that learned on his own by sacrificing his eye
@@BurtRivera-lh1lv be neat if there was a post game mission where Kratos and the other rebuild Asgard, not as vast as it was before, but more managable like the city sans the wall.
@@BurtRivera-lh1lv I think Destroying Asgard was meaningless. Because without odin and Thor, there's no one who could stand against Kratos. Plus Ragnarok didn't do anything ☠️ bc Sindri was the one who opened a door in the wall.
@@feru2925 but the destruction of asgard was a waste
@@BurtRivera-lh1lv that is what I just said
my man did indeed put the undertaker theme on the svartelhim realm 💀💀
When zesty said alfheim looks like shit that's what I atleast think. I chuckled when he said that.
One thing I loved about Asgard during Artreus’s first visit was how… normal it looked.
More specifically the outside plains. It felt less like a mythical realm and more like an actual place you could find here on Earth.
It was simultaneously beautiful, and incredibly unnerving, almost ironically unnatural.
hey zesty... did you know there's greek music in Ragnarok?
it's when the norns start mocking kratos as he fights the traveller
I didn't know. I checked and heared it, thank you.
A detailed yet straight to the point video on the realms, this is why I love zesty…
videos 😏.
You are one of the best gow content creators ever
Good one
Agreed with ur takes on Alfheim and Asgard final fight bro. I had the same opinions for it ✌️
Both second and first place realms have the best music Daaamn Vanaheim is so eepic and those dragon bosses and fight soo great! :D
Man... honestly, before this video, I would've put Svartalfheim in the bottom half, but you made me a believer. Good on you! I never really appreciated the beauty, for whatever reason, or maybe it was as simple as editing Brok's voice out of the dialogue. 😄
Love hearing Earth playing in the background for #5 Berserk 97 ost fits perfectly
Vanaheim is the #1 realm and its no contest. Especially if you add the crater, which I find weird that you left that out
Agreed it has the most content in the game and it is a beautiful realm
Absolutely the best realm in the game
Absolutely agree with your ranking of the realms, except I would move Midgard up to 5th position and switch Muspelheim and Åsgard. The post-game encounter with Gná is seriously underrated, and I absolutely love the 1,5 boss fights with Freyja in Midgard. Åsgard is no doubt a stunning looking realm but Ragnarök doesn't top the pacing of fights in Muspelheim.
I loved the style and design that SMS take for Asgard but it should have been bigger like the Asgard of AC Valhalla
I love Midgard as it changed drastically compared to last game and it's Fimbulwinter vibe is what attracts me.
Bro used undertaker music on god of war the most badass Duo ☠️☠️☠️
1. Midgard - Love the look, and there are some fun bosses, including Thor, in the beginning, which is great. Really good content overall.
2. Helheim - Light on content, but the Garm segment is super memorable and spectacular
3. Musphelheim - Love the amount of combat here (except for the Atreus section), and the visit to Surtr was really good as well as the spark of the world and obviously Gna.
4. Svartalfheim- Some of the best side content here as well as getting the spear, super fun quest. Lots of character development and the plight of the dwarves under Asgard was interesting.
5. Vanaheim - Love this realm for the insane amount of content (the crater alone could be an entire realm) even if I find the poison plants really annoying.
6. Asgard - Mainly like this realm for the final battle with the fun and decently epic fights against Thor and Odin. Also has a cosy feel with the great lodge, which is a nice change of atmosphere.
7. Alfheim - Decent realm but I found it to be quite boring. Still the berserker fights here are challenging but fun to overcome. The lore with the elf war is also really interesting and you really get the sense that this realm has suffered due to the near constant war.
8. Niflheim - Not all that interesting, it's visually cool but that's it. If the raven keeper wasn't a standard revenant this could be higher on the list but all there is to this realm is the nice visuals and the awesome looking raven armor.
9. Jotunheim - I could easily sum this up with Ironwood but there's just nothing to do here. We don't meet any cool looking giants and it's a much less important realm than I thought it would be. Genuinely the only realm I'm actually dissapointed in.
tbh I view Niflheim as an arena mode (aka training room)
and musphelheim as a challenge mode
so basically ragnarok has almost everything that makes a gow game, just with more hidden loading screens and over the top shoulder camera
14:19 - 16:49 I got so distracted by the Resident Evil 4 music that I lost track of what Zesty was saying lol, it's so good!
Also, imo: Spark of the world > The Forge, it's just so DIFFERENT from everything else
vanaheim imo is one of my least favorite realm in this game in terms of look and Lack of fast travel and some complex level design and bad designed traps and the Skoll and hati thing is the worst thing man but the encounter and bosses in this realm is just Perfect
Zesty, what do you think about the next GoW game being a flashback game? Kratos shares his whole past with Atreus and the whole ragnarok crew in the current time and we are always having playable flashbacks of all the major greek era bosses as soon as Kratos reaches that certain point in his narration. That would be the most unique way of remaking the old games (plus a lot of the assets and levels would be ready, making whole game remakes easier). Then, the flashbacks end and Kratos prepares to leave to another mythology, or a cliffhanger.
This idea hits 2 birds with 1 stone in my eyes. We would get an amazing game that would still continue the current post ragnarok story, and then Santa Monica could release the whole remakes as standalones.
9:06 a great fact you split it there
Like i can plat Endgame but much butter
Awesome video as always , I agree for the most part for me only Alfheim would have been a bit higher
What's the name of that song at 8:59-9:22? It sounds like the music from that CGI trailer of "Assassin's Creed: Revelations"
Kendrick lamar - The Spiteful Chant
@ExtremeGameplays
Oh okay. Strange that this song is not on Spotify.
Using MF Doom's beats on your veideos backgrounds is one of the best things on RUclips.
Your opinion on the look of Alfheim + the “Svartelheim” typo at the end almost make me think this is a parody video
It’s really telling that after Jotunheim, there’s basically just compliments about the eight realms after.
Vanahiem and the crater section
I love svartalfheim just because the music slaps HARD
12:45 bro is that undertaker theme song
can you make a Ragnarök Runic attacks Týr list ???
3:34 did he just said what I think he said? “Nippleheim”
Yo zesty, what do you say about them changing the Hyperion grapple, in the trailer Kratos uses both blades to ram the enemy, but in the final product he only uses ONE blade, JUST ONE, I just don’t get it why they changed that attack
The problem is not using one blade or two, it's the utility. The move is sadly no longer a knockback attack. Still good for approaching and all that.
@@ExtremeGameplays1 same, wished it was just as strong as Gow 3, ngl the combat is the best in the franchise still, is it your favourite or Gow 3? Don’t delete my reply 😂
Mine is the realm of the dwarves. Very versatile
Idk what u mean by epic in the Asgard section lol to me it felt pretty epic and it sounds like it did for u as well so I don’t get what u mean
Wish they had an explorable map of Asgard after completing NG+
Svartalfheim is warm due to the events of Fimbulwinter.
How did you not mention the crater in vamaheim. It easily makes it number 1
In my eyes, this ranking shall be
9: Jotunheim- Just a sh*tty 2 hour walkie-talkie and all you can do post game is return there to collect a flower. New Game+ forgot to allow us to skip this. "Trash" rank.
8: Nifilheim- One part is a training session that's cool in its own way, give us neat rewards for collecting ravens, and the post game side mission is good. "Okay" rank.
7: Alfheim- Just alright landscape with good enemy combat, but the optional sand areas are pretty good, especially after freeing the Hungfuga. "Pretty decent" rank.
6: Helheim- It's not as horror esque like the 2018 version, but it has a good length with an interesting side quest. "Good" rank.
5: Asgard- A fun starting visit with a good guantlet section, and the Thor & Odin bosses are good, just needed more of a climactic push. "Very good" rank.
4: Midgard- A great starting area, a great mid-game area, and a great post-game area with just the right challenge and area, not as good as 2018 though. "Great" rank.
3: Musphelheim- Shame the first is an Atraus section, but the challenges you get there late-game, the Crucible, and the valkyrie bosses (all 3) make it an epic "gaming" section. "Epic" rank.
2: Vanaheim- A worthy spectable of the realms with not one, but two great boss fights. Many obstacles and enemies, the night and day shifting, and also the Crater, Sinkholes, and Jungle side areas are ridiculously good exploration, let's not forget the Well of Urd is just farming galore. Only thing holding it back is that Freya is such a B in the first visit. "Amazing" rank.
1: Svartelfheim- The true home realm of Ragnarok, where challenge and quests and fun all kick in and it is a blast. The amount of stuff to do here is on the same level of Vanaheim, but without the plants blocking your path so you can pretty much anywhere once you finish the main quest there. Also the Spear and Brok cinematic is is just so good, Kratos is true to his homie. "Masterpiece" rank.
I wish you could properly explore jotunheim but instead it's just there so you can visit angrboda and pet fenrir
I was surprised on how small Asgard is and why wasn't it explorable?
didnt know you can blow up those barrels or release gasoline to set it on fire 😮
Video idea : Top 5 Cyclone of Chaos
I think the level of detail in nidavellir is incredibile
My favorite realm of all is the dwarf realm as well it’s beautiful and if you didn’t capture I’d you look beyond the rocks it’s looks like Asgard but more hotter.
I really think they improved Muspelheim, Helheim and Jötunheim. It's also cool to see the differences in status at Alfheim, Niflheim and Midgard.
By the way, here is my ranking of all realms:
9. Midgard (Just Earth. This realm is really large and traveling through it can be tiring. Snow makes it even more boring.)
8. Muspelheim (I think fire and lava are really cool, but aside from admiring them, I get tired of this realm really quickly. However, the Spark of the World is truly something else!)
7. Asgard (I'm really bummed to rank it so low, but I was honestly disappointed. The landscape is beautiful, but I expected more from the village/city. I don't need a super-modern golden palace like in the MCU, but it could've had a bit more grandeur.)
6. Jötunheim (I know that's the concept behind the Giants, but even after Ragnarok, this realm still feels so mysterious. I sense there's more to explore. However, what we did see was beautiful.)
5. Helheim (This realm does exactly what it's supposed to do. It's eerie, cold, and desolate. The giant eagle and Garm were impressive. Not bad, but not particularly outstanding either.)
4. Alfheim (I personally find it hellish to get through, but the beauty makes up for it. The desert with the flying jellyfish is amazing!)
3. Niflheim (Like Muspelheim, there isn't much to do here besides challenges. However, I found the maze to be a much more engaging concept. And the look of this realm is truly fantastic. The cursed mist section is so ominous, while the ice section is simply stunning.)
2. Vanaheim (Interestingly, I initially found this realm really terrible. But that was because I often didn't know where to go, and my PS4 Pro struggled to load everything, causing a lot of glitches and worries. When I continued playing the game on the PS5, I started to discover the beauty and variety of this realm. It's truly amazing how you can also switch between day and night and slowly help restore the realm to its former glory with the side quests.)
1. Svartalfheim (The homeworld of my favorite Dwarves. Besides the fantastic landscape design, I really enjoy seeing how the Dwarves have integrated themselves. The music, the village, the industry, the mines. The realm has various 'layers' with different vibes. You can chill by the water near the bustling dwarf houses, explore the deserted mines underground, or hike up the mountain for some peace and a great view. I love it!)
Quite a long comment, but thanks for reading!
I really wanted more info on Nifilheim.
The structures that were built? Was that a temple?
who lived there? Ivaldis shop was far enough away that it was “warmer” and obviously dwarves were there at a point
the dead giant creatures?
the dead warrior bodies?everywhere, how cold is it-can humans survive?
My ADHD brain was spinning like crazy 😂
Vanaheim is the best realm in my opinion, there is so much you can do.
my favorite realm is vanaheim because it reminds me of where i live

8 Alfheim
7 Midgard
6 Helheim
5 Jutunheim
4 Muspelheim
3 Asgard
2 Svartalheim
1 Vanaheim
Did I just hear the Undertaker's music?!
glad that we're basically sharing almost the same opinion on this game
me and my homies HATE ironwood fr
I loved nilfheim in the 2018 when it had the gimmick, not so much in ragnarok though
Bro whats with the undertaker music 😂
Vanaheim is my fav, Midgard is a close 2nd though!
I prefer the mechanically rich bosses but I think prioritizing cinematics over mechanics would be better for any god of war as that’s the theme they’ve built around the games.
Muspelheim is clearly the best realm in my opinion besides surtr’s challenges you get to fight 2 of the best boss fights in the entire series gna , hrist ,and mist
Also I have a question if u don’t mind. Is your name really zesty?
With regards to Jotunheim, I often thought that games that focus too much on story aren't "real" games because they sacrifice what makes games truly unique (interaction) to essentially become movies. However, and I don't mean you by this, you can't really say anything against that when there are people who enjoy that. I enjoy stories as much as anyone, but I think there needs to be a good balance. Jotunheim didn't have that balance. Thankfully, it's "only" 2-3 hours long.
Edit: I probably still would have put Niflheim below Jotunheim because I don't find it that visually interesting, and there really isn't much to do there (I think they should have done more with most of the nine world's in general for that matter). I might change my opinion though, if I ever play it again.
So you finish Ragnarok again ?
U should do this for 2018 too
Idk what people mean when they say the thor and odin boss fights weren't epic. They were amazing, tho mostly bc ppl have their music off
The only problem with the ragnarok battle is that we needed more gods in the battle
Yes.
Would of been better if kratos didnt spar thor he literally pulled up to his house broke his roof left atreus with odin only with mimir almost killed him and who knows how long or where he would come back after dieing and if it wasnt sindri that gave atreus a free get out of jail card when thor was about to kill him he would have died and then hes angry that kratos pulled up to his house and "was going to hurt his daughter"

I do wish you talked about the content that each realm has. Man Helheim's Content is lackluster. That's why I didn't like it much.
Also kill me for not looking at The Forge. I didn't even look at it.

I prefer 2018 Gow. It just felt deeper.
i knew it from the start the worst realm is gonna be joutenheim and i was right and i agree with 10000% guranteed
Vanaheim's Crater area is the worst for me, getting around and doing side quests in that area is a b**ch with how bad the design is,it really killed the pacing for me sometimes. Otherwise, best realms for me would be the other parts of Vanaheim and Alfheim, simply because they are both very beautiful and easy to get around, the sidequests are good too. Alfheim looks gorgeous with all the mini-Hafgufas flying around, sometimes i just put the controller down and take a moment to enjoy the view and atmosphere.
