My favorite thing about GOW 3 has to be the enemy designs. These are definitely some of the most badass interpretations of classical creatures from Greek Mythology, and they feel so much more threatening and intimidating than in other games. Sure, the enemy designs in GOW have always been great, but thanks to GOW 3's updated graphics, it gave these creatures a lot more visual polish and allowed them to really stand out compared to before, with the Chimeras being a personal favorite of mine.

That applies to all the Greek games tho. In GoW 3 only Medusas got some real design change.
@@vlad_47 Oh yeah, I know that most enemies retain the same general design throughout the games, I just mean in terms of visual appearance, the enemies of GOW 3 look a lot more detailed and polished compared to previous games. For example, Centaurs in GOW 1 looked pretty blocky and awkward, but in GOW 3, they certainly look a lot cooler and more imposing. Makes sense given that it's on a more powerful console, but I still appreciate the visual upgrades to the enemy designs regardless.

The set pieces and locations tho havent trumped GoW 1 and 2 despite the superior graphics.
Athens, Pandoras Temple, Island of Creation are all iconic and nail Greek mythology perfectly, while GoW 3 locations are somewhat unimpressive imo.
The entire God Of War series (including the new ones) has a very very special place in my heart. I would have loved them anyway, but I played God Of War with my dad growing up, and at the time my dad was a very angry man and far from a great parent. He hit absolute rock bottom, basically ruining everything in his life. Then, around 2016 he started turning it all around, and became a fantastic father that I could truly be proud of. Hes now calm and collected, working hard to keep things stable for his new family (im an adult now and he remarried and has another daughter)
Its crazy how the game I used to play with my dad, mirrored his life so well.

Kratos was willing to leave Hermes alone and gone on with his quest to beat Zeus but Hermes had to screw around and found out in brutal fashion. Kratos was the villain who was willing to destroy the world just to fight Zeus aka killing gods and the consequences the world suffers from their deaths. The gameplay, the aesthetics, the storyline, music and world building is top notch in setting up the finale of the Greek Saga.
He was going to find out either way. He just didn't go about taking Krate out right. Super dumb.

@@jmgonzales7701 He was after revenge he didn't deserve, took out the people he was avenging and destroyed all of Greece. He's not a hero by any stretch. Even the talk of 'giving Hope' is a meme.

Non-canon (like their talk of him always being a 'god'). Soft reboot is a different continuity that boldly (and lazily) just says whatever (like BoC coming back without even remembering to have him go to the throne room for the Soul of War/Hate). The verse makes clear there can't be other places to just 'walk to' (and yet that is all Norse offers **plus the Egypt memes for even less credible sources**).
Hope was scattered. Humanity that is alive (almost none) with the horrible conditions (killing them) have no conception of it let alone means to wield it. None survive. There are no history books. They won't even know who destroyed them (and the afterlife). A villain beyond comparison without Athena to fix things (should she be unable to regather things).
I doubt the creators even think to recall Last Spartan, this timeline's Kratos, etc. should be able to fight their way back to avenge themselves against this invading Krate (ours). Athena would happily assist. Alas, between journos and execs, we get to pretend (through devs daring not to speak truth) Greek was tapped out (for interest and material). But enough of this.
There is nothing better than a thing to love endlessly. It just gives and gives, years on. It’s so good to dive into it, get lost in it and temporarily forget about the bs that is real life.

@@lazerfrogstudios most games are just you going around killing people and being framed as the good guy. Hence to me it stood out that in GoW the gameplay is lore accurate. To put it differently, it was the first game I played where they let you play as the antagonist in a literal sense
Our first time playing GOW 3 was a round with 6 men in a room and one goal - to enjoy the game to the fullest. Halfway through the game we were no longer arguing about who was allowed to play, but rather who had to. Basically it was a damn long movie. A damn good movie. What a game!
In gow 2 kratos told atlas I will kill zuez by taking the blade back and drive it through his heart that’s what he did in 3

28:56 that was Kratos scoffing Athena after all he went through with her and the Gods she says she’s “disappointed” in him. Kratos probably thought she had some nerves.
There is so much great hack & slash games like DMC, Onimusha, Darksiders, Castlevania LoS trilogy etc. But GoW is another level for gaming. Especially GoW 3, newer GoW games have better graphic and they are bigger games, but no new game will top GoW 3 in terms of gameplay, atmosphere, pacing and Boss fights. Let's hope for new GoW games will back to it's roots of faster pacing and gameplay.

I used to think to think this as a kid..and growing up playing this game I can see how it’s not really “appropriate” for a kid but I feel it’s been a blessing playing this as a kid I feel God was in it in some way shape or form.

One of the things gow3 did better than any game is sell the technical leap from the ps2 to the ps3. Even with ps4 and ps5 we dont get those WOW moments like we used to.
Not to mention it was a game that didnt need to worry about diversity or cinematics or being offensive, it just did what it did and did it well 🔥
This. It and MGS4 really felt like the next generation. I was there for GoW3, but not for MGS4. Playing MGS4 NOW feels new and futuristic.
The first leap i remember was going to a parents friends house and seeing the first uncharted game, the wet leaves blew me away as i still only had the ps2

You’re teaching me a lot on the combat 😭 I’m on the hardest difficulty on the part where I have pandora going thru the labyrinth trying to get out and you get to that wave of sirens, Minotaurs, & noob enemies. I keep dying on that part but I’m gonna try again from what I was taught today, THANK YOU

As someone who skipped the PS2 and PS3 games, I really enjoyed GOW3. I played it after GOW4 and still found it very fun and it still holds up, something I cannot say for 90% of the ps3 era games.
This Game is my favorite in the series for sure and I've been playing this game/series for many years, but the little details you mentioned at the end of the video is impressive and I've never gave those things another look even after my very first initial play though. Good Job and Great Video!

I love the way the hits were counted and the blood upgrade method is so sick which is missing in gow 2018 and ragnarok.. The brutal gow and seemeless action in gow 3 is unmatchable

Our PS3 is broken now after more than a decade, but watching your video makes me want to find a way to play GOW3 again. The game is ageless at this point. It truly *is* a masterpiece.

I still prefer the old trilogy over the new games. I bought a ps3 back in 2009 only because i wanted to play this game after playing the first 2 and seeing the amazing trailers for this one.
To this day i've probably gone through the entire trilogy about a dozen times and GOW3 specifically a few more times than that.
I'm not sure if i would call it my favorite game ever like you do, but it's definitely up there.
The entire old trilogy was one of the best franchises ever.

I only got to play the game this year, after being in my mind since my early teens but with not having a PS3, no way to play it. This year still no PS3, or 4 or 5, but emulation does the magic once more, sure the frame rate is all over the place, the graphics ain't as good, but My God if i loved the game. Combat is so fucking gorgeous, same goes for the envirioments, music is fantastic, and as you said, the full circle, the overwhelming finale feel the game shines on is just beautiful. Wish i could play it in 60 fps, but hey! I was raised on the LapTop 20 fps gaming, so it is no a big deal.

Can't believe I finished this game and missed this much. 2 was my favorite but now I'm not so sure. I really miss the old GOW, never been interested in the new gameplay style and never got the new ones. I clicked on this video with raised eyebrows but now, my mouth is stuck wide open. Considering the old collection now.

New challenge for Zesty:
Finish GOW3 with no upgrades, but ONLY with the weapon you have in hand at any time, without changing, unless the game gives it to you. Basically, play with only the blades until Hades, only with the claws until Hercules, only with the cestus until you get Nemesis whip from Hefaistos, only with the whip until end. Magic also locked to the current weapon. Sounds interesting?

No beat around the bush, no alternative meaning, no nuance. You're witnessing the embodiment of a force of nature take down Mt. Olympus after being built up for 2 games. You just had to be there to understand why it was hype.
I can't say it's the best game of all time, however, it's the best GOW game of all time. It's definitely in my top 10 best games of all time.

GOW 3 I can’t stressed it enough, it’s a PHENOMENAL PHENOMENAL game. The EPICNESS, the conclusion story to put things to put it end of the Greek saga, the memorable legendary quotes, the gameplay. Definitely one of my top 3 games of all time next to GOW 2018 and RAGNAROK.
I thought about you making a gow3 video earlier today and here it is..
GOW3 is basically what happens when a bad man is seeking redemption and help for his PTSD, is denied both and given something he never wanted instead, and his depression for his situation turns into an all consuming hatred. It also has to make me wonder; Kratos never had the visions of his wife and child’s death taken from him. By the time GOW4 happens, he seems calmer and more stoic, but is he still haunted by those visions or have they dulled over time and been replaced by visions of the pantheon’s ghosts?

When i played this game when i was 7-8, i just amazed, of how good the graphic is and the combat system, in fact this is the only Game i had and i want in PS3, GOW3 is the reason i played and had a PS3, such a M A S T E R P I E C E.

God of war 3 is Peak combat, I guess im the minority but 2018 GoW Combat just isnt it, not compared to the original trilogy, Kratos just feels so sluggish, like some sticky substance is just holding him back, its not bad by any means and I can understand why people would prefer it over the original

Kratos and Zeus punching each other on the face at the same time was def inspired by Goku vs Majin Vegeta, the clash itself was so perfect, loved every second of Kratos vs Zeus, the franchise peaked at 3, I like Norse games too, I'm bout to platinum Ragnarok lesgo! But 3 has the EPICNESS

The only GOW game I didn't play was Ghost of Sparta, while I found Charon to be kinda difficult no fight frustrated me more than Ares.

This has nothing to do with the video. But how cool would it be if we get a GOW prequel where we got to play as young zeus? Seeing him grow up on Gaia, learn his abilities, free his siblings from Cronos, obtaining the blade of olympus and fight the Titans would be awesome.
