If you want to track mount it instead of using the included bracket and drilling holes, the YakAttack CommandStand Track Mount Kit works perfectly. You can also do an easy deploy and lower from the seated position by swapping the front strap for cordage and running through and eye hook to a cam cleat to hold and release it.
I have one just like it I bought it over a year ago and love it. I fish a lot I just fold it out of the way and pull it back up on the in between runs.
I have one on my OT 120 PDL. I modded it so that I don’t have the front straps. This opens it up so I can fish easily without anything impeding my rods while casting/fishing/landing a fish. This top is a game changer on hot days. It effectively turns a non fishing day into a bearable day.
If you put a bracket from the front bar to the leg in that corner you could almost get away with no front tie downs. So technically you could use it while fishing
Thanks for sharing! I'm looking for a top to offer shade in the foot / peddle location for the dogs. How is the shade in that area with this canopy? This Hobie kayak is the best platform foot area that I've found that's the most comfortable for the dogs. But getting adequate shade in that area is the real problem we need to solve for them.
Looks good the only concern would be for a tall person there head may be to close to the canopy for them on a real hot day if it does not reflect the heat. But that is just a thought looking from afar.
I just bought a Bimini top from Temu seems to be real nice it's not as nice as yours but we will see I'll post pictures. It's good for me to float down river and not fish. I would put one on your kayak you can always put it back and fish.... very nice if mine doesn't work ill buy yours
Great addition for those that just like to be out on the water, but for fishing, not practical at all. I have thought about wearing a Sombrero, LOL. I do have a question for you. I have a Hobie Outback and I am really struggling to find a way to security my rod holders to the cheap plastic tracks. I have lost two rod holders because the plastic gets is probably getting to hot in the sun and the base just pops through the track. I have lost two rod holders and one rod. Is there a better way? I have tried 3 different brands and they all do the same thing. The track should have been made from metal. HELP! Thanks

In one of your last videos, you showed a plastic box that you put in the pro angular floor hatch instead of the tilt up trays. You were showing the dividers you put in the box, but you never said where you got the box. I looked on your build site and didnt see it.
I have the exact one on my 106 PDL and I’ve had it up with my kayak pulled up on the bank in a pretty heavy storm and haven’t had any issues other than it could potentially flip the kayak. But the screws held up fine so far.

😮 I have the Hobie shade, the only real pro is I can slide it in the PAs internal rod holders for storage.
The one you installed is 200% better.

For the outbacks just put an anchor point in the mast hole and use a single strap from the front center and you might be able to fish around it easier

could you add a weight to the front edge and use that to keep the canopy in place? That would allow for casting and still keep the canopy in place.

Tj, if you have an updraft, is there a possibility of the screws being pulled out even though you have the tie downs. Just a thought.
