      You can still use your Cricut machine. You just need to have silhouette business edition and then can save files as svg to cut on your Cricut. I I have bought SS business edition and it’s brilliant, I just save and cut via DS. I love how brilliantly my Maker cuts and how quiet it is compared to a Cameo but may still consider a cameo in the future but would miss my scoring wheel as I don’t like cut score lines. Silhouette need to make a scoring wheel! (And a rotary blade that doesn’t make odd swirls in order to turn around?!)

      @@traceybartlam5940 you can use the cricut scoring pen in the silhouette pen adapter. I still have my cricut but honestly haven’t bothered since getting my cameo 4 pro- as the only thing better than a maker is a machine capable of cutting far larger projects and without cumbersome mats.

    I was a Silhouette user, then went to Cricut, but DS was so bad I continued to use SSBE to create my designs. Still, DS was so bad, that in the past 6 months I completely stopped using my maker. This latest announcement by Cricut made me realise I was hanging on but my crafting was suffering for it, and all for a company that simply doesn't give a damn about its customers. I bought the Cameo 4 on Sunday. I am under no illusion though that Cameo isn't without its problems. I've realised that currently there isn't a brand that has an amazing machine and fantastic software but having used both extensively, believe me when I say Silhouette Cameo is a fantastic option.

    I have the advantage of changing from cricut early on. At that time, cricut was cartridge based and that made things very limited and expensive. When they released their first software, it only allowed me to alter designs that were on the cartridges I owned. AND then they stopped supporting it. So I am not sorry about the change and can't imagine going back to cricut.

    I own both and have subscriptions to both. Now that they did this people are trying to dump their machines and will never sell them with what they are asking. Plus Cricut is selling their machines cheap. Hurts those trying to make the leap. There is a financial cost no matter what way you go.

      Yes, but with Cricut its a never ending bleed. You'll never get rid of that charge, and it may go up.
      I got mine in late December. I started using it a month ago. I bought all the blades and supplies. It hurts because I was so excited and now I regret making this decision. I think I can pay that money for a while, but I dont want to. I bought this machine to be freely creative, and now it comes at a price. For the cost of this machine in 2 years just to be able to use it, i could pay for another machine that will be yours 100%. The only good thing that came out of that kerfuffle is that a lot of other machines came to the forefront, as well as 3rd party designers. I don't trust Cricut. Haven't in a long time. Even when they backed off this issue, the reality is that it's temporary, as soon as they can they will be back trying to screw over their loyal customers in a different way.

If so, do I just join the Business program for $65? Had I known more about Silhouette, I may have chosen it over the CricutMaker. I have a wireless Scan’nCut I bought 5 years ago and used only about 5 times. Their support was terrible. Does a silhouette cut cotton fabrics that I back with ThermoWeb Peel ‘n Stick? That’s what I need to be able to do for my business. It wouldn’t work at all with Scan’nCut. Not sure it will work with my new Cricut either although I was told it could work after I sent them the materials I need to use and they tried it for me. I appreciate any insight you can give me. There is a silhouette blade for cutting backed fabrics and yes you can just use the software with your cricut, but you will have to still upload it to cricut to cut it will not be direct. Just save as an SVG and upload. I personally just bought a silhouette after learning the software because the idea of needing to outsource efficient design software for a machine that only has one job speaks to the inadequacy of cricut as a whole. They do not care about our needs just their pockets.

    How many silhouette machines are there and what are the differences. Which one is better for a beginner.❓

    • @SilhouetteSchool
      @SilhouetteSchool  3 года назад +1

      The current machine is the Silhouette CAMEO 4. There is a 12", 15" and 24" version. They an all cut up to 60 FEET long so it's just the width that's different. This should help explain the features. www.silhouetteschoolblog.com/2020/09/24-silhouette-cameo-4-pro-pre-order-yes.html

      Hey there! I have a dedicated section for Silhouette for Business here: www.silhouetteschoolblog.com/p/silhouette-for-business-owners.html I may be biased but I'm partial to Silhouette. Also if you're planning on designing for your decal business, Silhouette Studio is a much more powerful design software.

      I would use the Rotary blade in the CAMEO 4 or CAMEO 4 Plus. Here's a tutorial on how to use it to cut fabric www.silhouetteschoolblog.com/2019/11/how-to-use-silhouette-cameo-4-rotary.html

      I'm glad they did that. It will mean I can still use my Cricut. It also means I'm not canceling my order for a Cameo 4. Cricut has lost my loyalty.

      @@jamiliahrivera5986 they really shouldn’t have jumped ship so fast. On the day of the announcement there was so much anger that Cricut were bound to do something and literally changed their mind within a few days!! If I was spending that much money I would be researching my alternatives first!

    So all the cricut users bought all kinds of silhouette cutters and now that Cricut is not going through with it due to seeing how many people they was losing i have a feeling they will return all the silhouette stuff they got. But it it was me i wouldn't trust Cricut anymore.

      I think people jumped ship way too fast! I like both, my machine cuts exceptionally well however I’m using S studio lots more then importing into DS because the silhouette software is better. They both have pros and cons as far as I can see

    I hate Cricut even tho I have a maker, I’ve never used. But the only good thing I can say about there greedy company is they have great cust. Service and will answer questions over the phone. Silhouette DOES NOT! And I hate that. Sometimes, you just can’t explain a problem in a text sometimes and seems like I constantly have issues lately with something not working right

    • @traceybartlam5940
      @traceybartlam5940 3 года назад

      You’re right, their customer service is great. How come you have never used your maker? They’re too expensive to sit in a box and are excellent machines, maybe just use silhouette studio instead to design. The cutting capabilities are great and it’s so simple to switch tools. I love that it has a scoring wheel and would really need an alternative to that in a Silhouette. I’m really surprised they don’t make something to score to save cut score lines, which can always be seen in the projects I’ve see
