This video was so helpful. Your daughter and mine seem very similar in the academic load they can carry. It is always so nice to see how others carry out their day so that when the bumps come in the road, I have some ideas of how things could be moved around a bit.

That’s so funny, my son just started TGTB level 3 and we were exactly on this lesson today 😂

Thanks so much for these videos, it has been so helpful to get in-depth looks into the books, IG, and what a day can actually look like. I've found we are in a place where I'm excited to have everything in a box, scheduled out for us, but I still want a literature-rich curriculum, and I'm hoping to make the switch to Sonlight for the fall. When my box came in, oh so much fun! But as I spent some time looking through them, I'm feeling like the level D books are mature, content-wise, for my sensitive (currently) 9yo & 6yo. Additionally, I'd prefer to continue to keep them learning together, and I'm thinking of backtracking to level C, as those read-alouds look engaging for us, but- probably overthinking - I'm concerned about pacing it so we are ready for level D in two years. Maybe I'll stretch the 5-day IG out to 2 years, instead of going all-in on the 4-day for one year? Just thinking "out loud" here, but I'm very curious to hear if you are jumping into level D, or taking some time, first? Haha anyway, I really appreciate all the info you share, it's very helpful for me when I'm unable to get to a convention to actually have the books in my hands and see what they are really like!!

Haha, I totally understand! I am planning on jumping into D next year because my 10 yo will be more than ready, my daughter will be a new 9 so I will be assessing as we go for her!

I’m super curious what your thoughts would be on comparing TGATB level 3 compared to Logic of English Essentials. We’ve been using TGATB for pre-k through currently in 2nd grade. I already ordered level 3, but I’m a bit intrigued by LOE. Since you have experience with both I’d love to hear how these two compare!

Good question! I think it would depend on your kiddo, but in my opinion LOE is a more in-depth program, my son really learns everything he needs to know about the English language. My plan is to try LOE first with my twins before looking at other programs - I really like it! It is more teacher intensive though!

Would love to know what your usual daily schedule is with kids in different grade levels. I'm always looking to tweak my schedule. 😂 How long is your typical snack time where you read for science, social studies, and your read aloud? I'm curious how long all of that read takes altogether. Thank you for all the helpful videos!

I'd say it ranges from 35-45 minutes depending!

Do you find the writing component of tgatb to be enough? I’ll be starting tgatb in the fall. Great video!

For 3rd grade, yes! I really liked the way the writing instruction was structured!

How long did the lesson for TGTB level 3 take you guys including the shared reading book?

I wondered the same. I also work full time and love TGATB but I’m not sure we have that much time.

I would say about 30-45 minutes for everything!
