Love seeing curriculum in action. Always helpful to get a feel for what the curriculum is like. We do LOE Essentials at a much slower pace than this. The content of the curriculum is so good, but going at a rate of one unit per week would make my brain 🤯 We like going at a pace that lets the content sink in a little better over time. We really take advantage of the reviews and our relaxed flow can also allow for a rich literature and writing/composition part of the language arts to be added in without going into overwhelm.
Your videos are so helpful and this format was especially helpful and one that's so difficult to find! I knew it took extra work but I so appreciate it!
Thank you so much for showing this video and how it works in action! One thing I didn't see much of is a "writing/composition" component. Do you use something separate for teaching writing?
Oh man, the two programs couldn't be more different! Like Abeka only teaches long and short sounds of vowels at first and quickly progresses into special sounds - as were LOE teaches primarily from phonograms. LOE is probably more precise, but Abeka works faster ... or at least for my kids :)
Yeah, it can be a lot … I like that we go through it a number of times, that way I don’t feel pressured to make sure he gets it the first time through 😊
Can I ask what age your daughter is? I was looking into LOE essentials but after this video I’m wondering if it’s a bit too intense for my kiddo at this point in time. Thanks!

Haha, we have slowed down at times too!
What a great program, and yes, this style of video was really helpful, it gave a really good insight to how to use LOE. Thanks so much for sharing.
Glad you liked the style!!

I'm so glad it was helpful - I also like watching these types of videos!
Very interesting and helpful to see it in action.
Thank you for sharing this!
This video was most helpful. Thank you, Angie!
How do you feel LOE compares to Sonlight's LA program? Are there any pros/cons you can share since you've used both?
This a great help, thank you.

You are correct, there isn't a composition piece to the curriculum, so you will need to add that!
What are your thoughts on foundations A and B compared to abeka K4 and K5?

@@sciencemama thank you!
so are using this with Abeka??
Nope, I fully switch to LOE after they are comfortable reading!
We tried Essentials but it was too intense for my daughter. We LOVED Logic of English Foundations, however.

We loved Foundations but this seems like way too much for me.
It can be a lot - I was glad I waited to start until he was 9!
