This was very helpful. Thanks! I did Foundations A-D. We're half-way through D and there are very few reviews of Essentials out there. So thank you for this. Your video on Foundations D also helped me a while ago. :-)
Hi, thanks for your detailed explanation. I have found the online programs to be very helpful. I have come to realise that the online Logic of English Essential is a complete program. So if anyone wants to do the program but feels intimated by the program, the online program is a great option. In fact, that's what I am planning on using when my daughter gets to that stage.
Is that RightStart I see in the background?! We also do CC, LOE and RightStart! Anyway, do you think it would be possible to supplement the LOE program with CCs Essentials program if we scale both programs? My daughter has completed LOE Foundations through D and we are wrapping up our first year of CC Essentials, but she needs some help with spelling and grammar (punctuation, capitalization, etc.). My hope was to use LOE as a summer supplement, but after watching your review, I'm wondering if it's too much to complete in a summer. I could add it into our school year alongside CC Essentials, but I'm also afraid both programs would be too much. Would you mind sharing your thoughts?
Yep, that’s RightStart in the background! Some people do use both CC Essentials and LOE Essentials but that seems like it would be overwhelming so I haven’t tried it. It’s definitely too much to complete in the summer but I think you could do some of it in the summer then see if you want to continue in the school year. If you want something lighter for capitalization and punctuation you might look in to Fix It Grammar or Daily Grams. I don’t have a lot of advice about spelling, we’re currently using Automatic Spelling alongside CC Essentials but may do something like Teach Type Read Spell over the summer for some light spelling practice.

You’re welcome! I’m so glad it was helpful!
This was such a helpful explanation. Thank you! First year homeschooling and I am starting Essentials with my 3rd grader.
You’re welcome!
Thank you for providing the placement test link and for providing a detailed explanation of the program.
You’re welcome!
Thank you your explanation of how to move from foundations to essentials was really helpful. Looking forward to the rest of the video! 💜💖

Yes! I love that they have an online option as well!

I think once my boys finish foundations this year I'm gonna move them and my older 4th grader to essentials.
While doing Essentials, do you need to add a separate writing program if starting it in 5th grade? For grades 5-6.
Yes
Which writing program?
@@pinkorganichorse I don’t have a recommendation for that as we didn’t use a writing program when we did it for 3rd grade.
Thank you
