  • @ragweedmakesmesneeze
    @ragweedmakesmesneeze 9 месяцев назад +4

    I think what often goes un and under-reported about the GR's AWD system is that no matter what mode you put it in, it still operates primarily as a FWD vehicle. Only when the car determines you need it, does it split the torque UP TO the amount selected. So, 30-70 split mode means you can get UP TO that kind of torque split during spirited driving, cornering, etc, but the rest of the time it basically in "fwd" mode. Or at least that's my understanding of this AWD system on this car.

    • @osomorose
      @osomorose 6 месяцев назад +1

      Do you have a source for that? I checked a few articles talking about the GRs system but none of them mentioned this

    • @ragweedmakesmesneeze
      @ragweedmakesmesneeze 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@osomorose Engineering Explained goes into nice detail about how the GR AWD system works and around the 7:40 mark, he mentions what happens to the clutch packs and by extension the drive wheels, when on a straightaway.
      ruclips.net/video/EjYrHQ83mbM/видео.html What I find interesting about his explanation is that he says, with authority, "they're not going to overheat and here's why" but since that video and more GR Corolla's have found their way to the track, sure enough, folks are getting forced into FWD mode as the clutch packs ARE overheating.

    • @dustinr16
      @dustinr16 Месяц назад +1

      Yes this is correct. I’m 30:70 it’s not locking the torque distribution. Depending on what the sensors detect, it will send up to a maximum of 70% of the power rearward. It doesn’t lock the power split in like on the electronic differential on the WRX STi.

  • @dustinr16
    @dustinr16 Месяц назад

    It actually on sends up to 70 percent of power to the rear in certain conditions. It’s not locking the power to the rear unfortunately.
