  • This bourbon cocktail is delicious! It's even perfect for those who aren't really crazy about bourbon. With cherry, mint and a dash of club soda, it's refreshing and sophisticated. It's quite literally a whiskey smash...with cherries on top! Recipe below.

    WHAT YOU NEED:
    2 oz Bourbon
1 oz Mint Syrup (instructions below)
    1 oz Lemon Juice
    3 pitted cherries
    Club soda
    HOW TO MAKE IT:
Add Bourbon, cherries, mint syrup, lemon juice to a shaker glass
    Muddle or "smash" very well
    Shake, shake, shake!
    Double strain into glasses
    Top with club soda
    Garnish and Enjoy!
    MINT SYRUP
Boil 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup water
Bring to a simmer and add 1/2 cup loose fresh mint leaves
    Simmer 5 minutes
    Strain out leaves
    That's it!
Fun fact: While most people call it a Bourbon Smash, you'll see it called Bourbon Mash as well. Either way...these drinks are delicious!

@@HeyBartender I love smashes! I add club soda to them in the summer when its really hot. When it's super hot you can get dehydrated, and you tend to drink your cocktails too fast. Also, when your making a botanical syrup bring your water to a boil, toss in your herbs, take it off of the heat, and let it steep for thirty minutes to an hour, remove the greenery, and put the infused water back on the heat, but don't boil it, then add sugar. Putting sugar on herbs gets really messy.
