    U are amazing at this mate! Superb job! I really love this, ur workflow of modeling in blender with hardops, then zbrush for HP, smoothing out and marmo + Substance combo! I need to start doing it like this, instead of doing all the mesh by hand and using subdiv modifier in blender, it takes for ages and u need to be real good in geo modeling to get some details like ur DXT (in no hardops workflow), but man zbrush + marmo + substance + addons, cost fc a lot.

    • @ChillieGaming
      @ChillieGaming 2 месяца назад +1

      For marmoset 3 there is lifetime subscription but you can also do baking in substance painter as it's baking is powerful after the update
      And substance painter lifetime is like $150-300(*updates for 1 year and price depends on your country)
      Yes zbrush is good and it can handle high polygons but you can create the same using blender by using remesh + subdivision surface+ smooth modifier

    A couple questions:
    Hard surface models for use in games - is it more of a non-issue using triangles and triangle fans on the flat surfaces because the shading is flat and there will be no deformation?
    Am I understanding correctly that the emphasis for using only quads is more for surfaces that are curved, will deform, sub-D modeling, maintaining good edge-loops, and for ease of UV unwrapping?
    Does the whole 'no triangles' debate really just depend on your application?

    • @stellar-techindustries

      Yes, I use the addon Boxcutter to get quick booleans, and it does create ngons and other geo issues, but I then correct them and fix the geo, and the final model ends up having an optimized and triangulated topology.

    So when you say pistol concept, do you mean you made up a fictional pistol or you are using a concept of a real life pistol? I'm asking because I always find new gun concepts built from scrap fascinating, because it's guns we don't see in other media like your standard 1911 or glock.

    • @stellar-techindustries
      @stellar-techindustries  Год назад

      So for this concept, I drew it myself digitally, basing it off of my own previous weapon design that doesn't exist. So it is a concept of a concept!

    Would you mind explaining how is it "Game ready" when it doesn't have quads or good topology and is full of endgons? Or is there a way to bypass it?

    • @ChillieGaming
      @ChillieGaming 2 месяца назад +2

      Game ready models do not need to have quads everywhere.
      Ngons are trinagulated by hand.
      And there is new workflow to creating the new quad only high poly later by using remesh + subdivision surface + smooth modifier and then baking.

    • @temperboy5460
      @temperboy5460 2 месяца назад

      @ChillieGaming I've been looking into it, and yeah, it's the ngon method that uses triangulation or a remesher.

    Do you base your Poly count by if you think its good enough or is there a certain Limit to what type of assets deserve less or more poly counts

    • @stellar-techindustries
      @stellar-techindustries  Год назад

      For poly count in making a game asset, it depends on what asset you are making really, and the use case for it. Mobile games require lower poly count than say, PC games. I try to keep my poly count within a "range" of 10-20k for a pistol and about 20-50k triangles for a rifle, and so on. You cant really be too exact so you gotta just feel it out, and see how you can optimize the mesh without losing details

    • @stellar-techindustries
