Good call mentioning Maniology’s sticky base coat. Love it. And, I have no idea what kind of postal sorcery they work, but a majority of the time I get my orders maybe a day or two before what USPS says is the scheduled day.

I haven’t done my own nails for a long time, except occasional clear polish. I used to manicure myself until fake nails got really big - I don’t know, but it seems like polish formulas changed then to work on fake nails, but not so well on natural nails. I have natural nails that I’m fortunate grow fast and don’t break easily. But whenever I did my own nail polish, I’d get bubbles. Every. Single. Time. Tried different brands, thinner coats, everything I could think of. I got gel polish at the salon once or twice, and I loved the longevity, but it did seem to weaken my nails somehow.
I’m kind of excited to try dipping, I hope to get the longevity of the gel manicure, without weakening my nails. I’ve watched several of your videos recently, and enjoyed them. You’re entertaining and informative, and I do love the look you got with caroming over the polish. Thanks!

Tip: using your fingers to buff in chrome powder is not a good idea since your skin is oily. Using an applicator is the best option for longevity.
You make a great point, but I do find that using my finger works best for me and I had no issues with longevity 💗
Put a drop of rubbing alcohol on the finger tip you use to to rub in chrome & let it dry- best result by FAR!
This was so very helpful. I kept failing and I know why now lol I didn't use a top coat before haha

I think back in the day, I used Yellow Stopper (Sally’s- I believe that trick came from Christine [Holo Toco creator], to apply chrome. If I remember correctly, it was a bit persnickety as to “when” during the drying time, but I did get it to work. And of course good ole Seche-Vite, for top coat, which reminds me of dip liquid top coat, only dip liquids don’t shrink like SV. 🤣

If you use gel chrome OVER dip powder...do you have to apply the shiny top coat over the dip FIRST and THEN do the gel or does the gel topcoat count as the top coat?
You don’t need any dip top coat - the gel top is enough! ❤️

Question. If you’re chroming over gel that isn’t fully cured, with your finger, couldnt that cause an allergy?? Or no?

I could never get the chrome to work right, now I know it's because I needed to use no wipe top coat 🤦🏻♀️😅 I had no idea, so thank you sweetheart 🥰❤ These are gorgeous, I love that color on you. Do you have a no wipe top coat you can recommend?

Literally any no wipe gel top will work!! This one from danni toni works great! And it’s super glossy!

Marla! Help! I got mostly shiny top coats and a few that turned out matte! What am I doing wrong? I did activator, wiped with rubbing alcohol, waited 5 min and put top coat on. Still, 4 turned out matte and they're not in a row?
Dip liquids, right? The alcohol might be the thing. Instead of using that, just wipe the nails down with a dry paper towel after about 2 min. Then go right in with top coat.
Marla, lately I have been applying activator twice and waiting 10 minutes but occasionally chunks come out when e-filing. What could be wrong? I use Sparkle and Co Base and activator.
Sometimes activator can evaporate over time.. Espesh if it’s not closed all the way for a period of time. That might be the case.
