Wow I wore acrylics for almost 40 years. I got first set for my wedding and wore them constantly for years until the pandemic. I wore drug store type glue on nails during shut down and then just got tired and let my natural nails grow. Even after years my natural nails still do not look great. So I’m on a journey, hence watching all kinds of nail videos on here. thank you SO much, i have never seen anyone explain so well and also has the exact same nail beds and ‘nail quality’ (?) as me and this was so so helpful to me just starting out!!!! i really appreciate it, and your nails are so lovely and gives me hope for my own 🥺✨
Wow thank you for that very helpful and informative video. My manicurist was using builder gel and and her results were stunning. I never got anything more tough for my daily routine. However that stunning beauty was too time consuming. (Between 3-4 hours. She’s very meticulous and good for her) I’m not a professional but I had fake nails for years. I decided to try and got everything I needed. Talking about base and top coat. I was thinking we needed base and top coat for both builder gel and gel nail polish. Like could go up to 6 layers in total. Am I overdoing it ?😅
She just used a metal diamond bit on her cuticles. If it is diamond/fine, you can use it instead of your paper bit. If they used a corse metal bit, I am sure you would be screaming.
Love this! I do use Beetles nail polish but never knew about Building gel until recently and heard it helps strengthen and help grow out the natural nail. I must have been living under a rock, hahaha. Giving this a try - thanks for the informative video!
The way my acrylics popped off like butter 😢after 3 weeks hurts my pockets sooo to save my nails I go to RUclips because my nails are my everything and ❤ I came across this and I subscribed I will be buying builder gel
Thank you for this! I’m probably going to end up peeling it lol. I cured it in between for 60 seconds but base coat 30 and I did a topcoat for 60 hopefully that’s ok!! 🤞 I’m trying to get my nails long and and sturdy before school starts! ❤
You probably just experienced some heat spikes, this can happen more with some gels vs some others. If that happens just take your hand out of the lamp for a few seconds then continue curing. This does happen to me sometimes with the gel top coat but if I have a thick enough base of builder gel I don’t really feel it. I hope this helps!😊
Put your hand in the lamp sloooowly. Start from where the light starts shining on the outside, and move your hand into the lamp very slow. This way, the heat spike may not be as hot. Also, heat spikes can be because you have a thick layer that is curing all at the same time. Try to make thinner layers and cure in between each one until you have the thickness you desire.
I just had a little bit of left over product from my last manicure on my nails. But I always do wipe my nails with some isopropyl alcohol before the base coat so it will dry my nails and remove any access oils that may be on the nail plate.
I’m pretty new to the nail polishing world, and so far, your video has been the most helpful. Thanks for posting! Also, do you have a builder gel in a bottle that you recommend? You said you find those easier to use, so I’d like to find a good one to try. Lastly, what do you think about that beetles brand, because while searching for a builder gel, I’ve heard some negative comments about it causing allergic reactions. ☺️
Thank you so much I’m so glad I could help! I use the beetles builder gel and I love it, that’s the kind I used in this video. I believe the reason that beetles could be known for causing allergies is because a lot of people buy it without knowing much about the damage chemicals like gel can do. Allergies are caused by the gel coming in direct contact on the skin and if that happens too often allergies can develop. I always make sure that I never let the gel touch my cuticles or skin for that reason. Normally the professional products are bought by professionals so they know the risk of the products.
@@Maddy-Marie Ah, okay, nobody ever mentioned that information. Thank you so much for spending the time to answer my question. 💜 Also, I’d like to say that you have an excellent talent for nail polishing. I hope your passion takes you so far. But whatever you do, please make sure you enjoy it! ✌🏼

I just rewatched your video! 3 months later and my natural nails have grown by following a strict routine of care and keeping polish on them. Now that I have some length on them, I want to do the builder gel to add structure to my natural nail and protection. My question is: can I use regular polish over builder gel? I have lots of pretty nail polish that I’d love to use! Thank you again for your very clear instructions!!
@nancybrown2609 Saw ur comment here and wanted to interjectmy experience.I just started doing peel base(UNT) OVER builder gel(cured and topcoated) and FULLY DRIED PEEL BASE then regular polish and some stamping.Comes off in like 2days!I am searching for a way to make it last a couple more days but as with ALL nail stuff, it's trial and error cuz what works for some may not for others.(body chemistry etc...)I have TONS of regular pretty nail polish-AND GEL POLISH- that I wana use too which is why I started doing this.Helps that I don't have to use acetone AT ALL and can switch up any time!PLUS have that strength and structure which I find makes applications way easier. You may want to get your builder gel or rubber base gel (or both-which I use cuz my natural nails are too bendy n fragile for the harder builder gel directly so I do 2 super thin cured layers of rubber 1st then my biab) applications down first before trying this(I practiced using the peel base-2 semi thick layers capping edge and could pop off immediately without acetone-yay) .Once I had that down I just did the peel base OVER instead of under the gel and am still having fun with all the different polish/nail art options available to me!!As stated in Maddy's video tho- PRACTICE, PRACTICE , PRACTICE!If ya think bout it, nail techs go to school every day for 9 + months to learn the basics and ate still learning years later so it stands to reason that it would take alot of time and practice. They make it look sooo easy on some of the videos I know, but they've been doing it for YEARS!!Remember your nails are for YOU!If YOU love them then THAT IS ALL THAT MATTERS!Sorry for rambling but just thought I would interject a bit.GOOD LUCK & I bet they'll be great! 💅🫶💅
I am learning to do my own builder gel nails. When I’ve gotten them done at the salon, they would drill some of the hard gel product off after application. Do you do that too or avoid that by getting the layers just right?
I will do that if I have lumps or the nail is off balance. But I try to spend more time on the application so I won’t need to file afterwards. I hope that helps! 😊
Thank you so much!! 😊 I don’t have a tutorial on that yet but maybe in the future I’ll make a video about how to use the hard gel that comes in the pot.
its the first video i found, telling nicely about the e-filer. but, i am still kinda confused abt the rverse rotation of the efiler. would be great if you could once clear about it. else lovedddd the video
I would only recommend using a primer if you have a lot of lifting and you have tried prepping the nails better but still get the lifting. The primer is just a little harsh so I don’t use it. I use the rubbing alcohol as my dehydrator. I hope this helps 😊💕
I used one from igel beauty but another good one this one from melody Susie www.amazon.com/MelodySusie-Professional-Rechargeable-Portable-Scamander/dp/B07P7Z1JF1?crid=3FJG726W0VECV&keywords=nail+drill+i+gel+beauty&qid=1703181848&sprefix=nail+drill+i+gel+beauty,aps,137&sr=8-3&linkCode=sl1&tag=tiffiymichell-20&linkId=c0497a92dc008e0ec1621743bd908df4&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl
Thanks for turorial! When you do builder layer, are you doing one nail at a time but curing all nails each time? Is there such a thing as "over curing"?
No, you can’t over cure the builder gel. The only gel that I’m aware of that possibly gets over cured is the top coat, when that happens the it will just be a little less shiny. I hope this helps! 😊
This is a great tutorial. If I start to do them I hope I can get them to look half way as good as you did. Also question cause I’m super new to this. Can I use any polish I want on the gel overlay or do I have to specifically use a gel nail polish that I need to cure? There are some nail polishes I want to try like Mooncat and some new Holo Taco but I don’t want to do the gel and then ooppss can’t use the nail polishes.
Looks amazing 😍 I just have this one problem: once I cure the builder gel, it still doesn't get hard and keeps being sticky... I checked the info and my UV lamp has enough Watts so I really dont know what the problem is
I think the sticky stuff you’re talking about isn’t uncured gel. That is the tacky coat, you can wipe that off if you want with some rubbing alcohol. Most types of gels have tacky coats except for top coats. To test your lamp I would cure some top coat on a piece of paper and test if that cures all the way. I hope this helps 😊
@@Maddy-Marie I loved this video. Simple & straight forward. I am going to subscribe. Can’t wait to see some nail art. There are 2 types of top coat (well actually 3 if you count the Matt top coat). There is the “no wipe” top coat that doesn’t have a tacky layer after it’s cured & one that has the tacky layer that has to be wiped off after curing.
omg, THE DRILL! I wanna use it more but I am so AFRAID to use it on a high speed! So I always just file the products off, but its so time consuming and tiring... May you please, please, PLEASE do a tutorial of using the drill??? If you do, you are a godsend Q_Q
Hey there! This is so helpful. I have a question. Do you cure your whole hand each time after every nail is done? Like do you cure after you apply the builder gel to each nail? Sorry if this has been asked already!!!❤
Hey there! Yes, you need to cure your nail right after you apply the builder gel, because if you wait till you do all your nails the gel can move and some time go on your cuticle. So cute after each nail. Also I love to answer all y’all’s questions!
@@Maddy-Marie Thank you so, so much! This video is *really* well done i’m ordering some gel polish and builder gel on amazon by the same brand.🩷 will be using this tutorial to do my nails then.
This is so helpful, I've been trying to find a video like this that outlines all the steps from start to finish, and you use the exact same brand of gel polish as me which is great! one question, do you apply a top coat after curing the builder gel and before applying gel polish? thanks!
Glad it was helpful! The top coat is the last thing you do, so if you want to use gel polish after the builder gel you would apply the top coat after the polish. 😊❤️
You can do the builder gel on tips if you want. I use it on my natural nails because it adds strength to them which makes them able to grow out without chipping or breaking. I hope this helps 😊

Saw ur comment here and wanted to interjectmy experience.I just started doing peel base(UNT) OVER builder gel(cured and topcoated) and FULLY DRIED PEEL BASE then regular polish and some stamping.Comes off in like 2days!I am searching for a way to make it last a couple more days but as with ALL nail stuff, it's trial and error cuz what works for some may not for others.(body chemistry etc...)I have TONS of regular pretty nail polish-AND GEL POLISH- that I wana use too which is why I started doing this.Helps that I don't have to use acetone AT ALL and can switch up any time!PLUS have that strength and structure which I find makes applications way easier. 💅🫶💅
Amazing tutorial.. i love how you explain things. I bought builder gel and I want to try it but I'm kinda scared 😬😅
You can do it! Just take your time and you should do well.
@@Maddy-Marieawe thank you so much 🥰
What nail drill would you suggest? Really appreciate the education!!!
This is a good one amzn.to/3RNRjdf
Boy I'm sure glad I found your channel. Thank you for all the great tips, also a new subscriber 😊
I’m so glad I could help! Welcome to the channel😊
Beautiful job
Thank you! 😊
Best video ever. Thanks!
Wow, thanks!
Great video! You're super relaxing to listen to. Since I have builder in a tub do you have a video using that? It's definitely thicker than biab
Thank you so much!! 😊 I don’t have a tutorial on that yet but maybe in the future I’ll make a video about how to use the hard gel that comes in the pot.
Great tutorial!🤍
Thank you! 😁
Thanks! That was a very helpful!
Glad to hear it!
Thank you so much🩵🩵 I needed help with a builder gel! Def will try again
Happy to help!
Hi, did you cure the second coat of builder gel? Thanks.
I only cure the builder gel once. The slip layer stays wet when you apply the bigger blob on the nail, then afterward cure that. I hope this helps! 😊💕
Thank you so much for a gr8 presentation!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for these tips! I have so much trouble with getting bg on my cuticles and side walls. You make it look so easy!! I can’t wait to try it!
Happy to help!
Is the builder gel in this video a specific color? If it is, what color?!?! I love it
Yes, that color name is D056
its the first video i found, telling nicely about the e-filer. but, i am still kinda confused abt the rverse rotation of the efiler. would be great if you could once clear about it. else lovedddd the video
Thank you so much! 😊
@@Maddy-Marie do make a video on basics of efiler pls
Apologies if this question is addressed already, but don't need any primer and/or dehydrator?
I would only recommend using a primer if you have a lot of lifting and you have tried prepping the nails better but still get the lifting. The primer is just a little harsh so I don’t use it. I use the rubbing alcohol as my dehydrator. I hope this helps 😊💕
Maddie please make more nail videos!!
👀
Great video and tips!!!
Thanks so much!
Will this prevent polish lifting?? That happens to me constantly. And how do you remove it? Thanks!
Geat informative video. Thank you! Just curious what drill you use? I purchased one & it isn't very good.
I used one from igel beauty but another good one this one from melody Susie www.amazon.com/MelodySusie-Professional-Rechargeable-Portable-Scamander/dp/B07P7Z1JF1?crid=3FJG726W0VECV&keywords=nail+drill+i+gel+beauty&qid=1703181848&sprefix=nail+drill+i+gel+beauty,aps,137&sr=8-3&linkCode=sl1&tag=tiffiymichell-20&linkId=c0497a92dc008e0ec1621743bd908df4&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl
Great video, thanks for sharing❤
Thanks for watching!
@@Maddy-Marie thank you!!
Love your background music! And the video is perfect! Thank u 😎
Glad you like it!
Thank you much! Yes, you can use normal nail polish on the gel afterwards.
Can I use clear builder gel then add gel color on top ?
Yeah that’s the inhibition layer. All builders and hard gels have that. It’s cured, you just need to wipe it off with some alcohol.
i have that same problem, even after i wipe it off with rubbing alcohol it still has a tacky layer, is that normal?
Awesome video, thank you.
Glad you liked it!
omg, THE DRILL! I wanna use it more but I am so AFRAID to use it on a high speed! So I always just file the products off, but its so time consuming and tiring... May you please, please, PLEASE do a tutorial of using the drill??? If you do, you are a godsend Q_Q
Maybe I can do that
Great video!!
Glad you enjoyed it
Great tips! Very helpful video! Thank you!
So glad you like it!!
That’s so exciting!!
This was so helpful thank you 💗
Glad it was helpful!
bless you im doing my nails for madison beer's concert on friday and this saved me
This is so helpful, I've been trying to find a video like this that outlines all the steps from start to finish, and you use the exact same brand of gel polish as me which is great! one question, do you apply a top coat after curing the builder gel and before applying gel polish? thanks!
Glad it was helpful! The top coat is the last thing you do, so if you want to use gel polish after the builder gel you would apply the top coat after the polish. 😊❤️
@@Maddy-Marie Thank you!! 💕
Thanks for making this video!
Glad it was helpful!
Do you do builder gel on nail tips or on natural nails only?
You can do the builder gel on tips if you want. I use it on my natural nails because it adds strength to them which makes them able to grow out without chipping or breaking. I hope this helps 😊
