They timed the drowning animation so devastatingly, every single person who's gone to test for swim mechanic has unwaveringly gone "I can swim" immediately followed by drowning. I love it
Yep... That was me too. I was like "I can swim?" And then the game was like nope. That should be a complication
It may take 20ish attempts from specific angles, but you can hop over certain rivers with Wyrdeer, like the bottom of the crimson mirelands to get early access to Goomy.
That's exactly what I did but I did try to jump Wyrdeer over first and didn't make it.
It was one of the funniest moments in my own playthrough tbh XD
I picked oshiwatt and immediately found a chimchar in the wild
Chimchar just spawns in the wild?
@Reggie I'm not sure if he is supposed to or what the odds are but I am damn happy I got one he's been clutching me through the story lol.
@@reggie4618 yeah you can find all of the regular sinnoh starters in the wild randomly, I think they are rare encounters but I don't know
@@reggie4618 1 set chimchar spawns on large island SW of Lake Verity
@@reggie4618 Chimchar spawns in the obsidian fieldlands in a certain area. He has a 9% chance to spawn there depending on the whether
If this game has an official strategy guide I just might get it, if only for the artwork.
He is the strategy guide
We know there will be one in Japan coming in April but I haven’t heard anything about ones for BD/SP or Legends: Arceus in the US at all tho :/
No joke, as soon as I got Wyrdeer, ALL I did was explore the first area lol. I was in the Obsidian Fieldlands for the first 45 hours of my gameplay.
Same
Currently 60 hours in and still in the third area
Pokédex/Quests first
Story second
I love absolutely everything about this game from the very beginning on the beach to the final battle
"Damn, she rolled." Best line so far.
TBF wurmple knows string shot which can be good for guard duty.
Something I noticed was how fast the load times were which felt kinda insane!
I noticed Bidoof floating 😂
honestly pokemon sword/shield loaded super quick too whatever game freak does they manage to have very few loading times.
@@TheReZisTLust they have deific powers
I personally like the direction this has taken, it may not have been the best of all games, but this certainly brings a new direction to the franchise.
Maybe they decided not to make a strategy guide for this because they figured that they'll probably need to make a lot of patches and update the game as they go so they figured that guide would end up being outdated rather quickly... Cause Pokemon strategy guides are the only ones that still sell well. This game is unlike any other pokemon game after all
This game is very fun, and I want to beat it so badly, but something about it triggers my anxiety disorder. Thus, I can only play it in short spurts. I'm really glad you made this video. Watching someone else play it is helping me a lot, so thanks for the help, Papasea!
I’m not even surprised that it triggers anxiety-
@@grundgutigertv6170 exactly let yourself faint so you see its really not that bad then you wont be afraid as much
I don’t blame you… freakin alpha Pokémon scare the living daylight out of me
Don't worry if you feint I tend to hunt satchels every morning when I get off work. I'm at around 7k and can buy the rest of the items I haven't got from distortions
My guess is it's the real time play style vs original pokemon you dont have to react in real time. i need to take breaks with this game compared to previous pokemon games
So I can officially say that nuzlockes are totally possible in this came, but it’s a bit rough with the way the Pokémon turns work. If a fight has more than one Pokémon, you’re almost certainly not making it out unscathed
Depends on if you allow running, because outside of a few mandatory battles like that, you can physically run away from the battle and it will end because you strayed too far. And if its a mandatory one, you're probably going to expect it and prepare for it unless going in blind.
Every time I go out on a mission I get distracted and end up catching 40 pokemon
I’m up for this! I also didn’t pay much attention to the trailers, so I’m letting my attention wander to do a little of everything.
Oh yeah, Pokemon Legends-- the Papasea walkthrough!!
Liked immediately because of Hopes and Dreams! Love the content Sea!
This was a blast. Keep being great.
I hope we get a part two to this video, I enjoy your narration but i never make it to streams!
check out my second channel in the description then for videos like this
Despite this not being a normal nintended video, it's still nice to see your reactions to various things
I was so excited for this game but forgot it was released. I ended up buying it the following weekend. I just can’t get into it. It’s not a bad game at all and I don’t hate it, but I’m having a hell of a time keeping interest in it. Hopefully the hammering away in this video will help me! Love watching this channel
I picked Cyndaquil because it seems like there’s gonna be plenty of Grass- and Water-types later on.
I picked it bc 1) it was what i picked when i first played Gold back in the day and 2) I'm so used to not having fire types in games lol. Imagine my surprise when my son found Ponyta right off the bat
picked it up because i was wondering if thyplosion had flames and it does very cool ones too more like whisps but still it is the only non alpha i keep in my team even tho i have soo many better options but i guesse ill go whit alpha empoleon, garchomp rhyperior, honchkrow and luxray for now.
Yeah but Vulpix :)
There are several choices for fire types in the early game, but you're right that there aren't nearly as many through the game as grass and water types, and there seems to be more fire types that are rare spawns or that will run away than grass or water types.
I picked samurott because.. spoilers
I was "spoiled" that you can get all the starters at the end of the game or from distortions. And that combined with the sprite of typhlosion not having its flame made me not want to pick him. Then I got him and seen his flames actually in battle. Looks way better
Thanks and safety to ya as always!!
Wow. I can't believe this is out
The biggest question is when will Pokemon Brillant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl have the fourth update patch so we can finally used the Wonder Trade and Global Trade Station (GTS). I know there's Link Trade but Wonder Trade is the most important part of the games and makes it a lot easier, I don't know why they're not added to the games before released back in November but I'm guess that with Pokemon Legend Arceus release that they wanted wait a bit longer before it's finally updated but I'm hoping the waiting is worth it🤞. As for Pokemon Legends: Arceus I will planning to buy the game in the future after watching some RUclips videos to get some ideas to what to expect in the game.
Well I’ve gotten from it so far is that it’s monster hunter but Pokémon
This is one of the games I really want to play 😁 living vicariously here
"I'm gonna di- wait, what's this?"
*immediately gets steamrolled by Rapidash
::covers eyes::
i haven’t played it yet! i want to hammer away on MY OWN
Huge fan of the PAPASINTENDED series, what a promising new direction
Gotta respect your amazing work attitude. How fast you put this video out, also with editing, is amazing!
Great job man!
Oh man this game looks so fun
Ancient professor Rowan is a sumo wrestling commander lol I like it
Next big game will be a sequel of this where you gi even further back in time in the time of the great pokemon war in galar
i'm surprised of how many youtubers i've seen pick oshawott, i expected maximum 1 to pick him, but i've seen like 5 picking him
oshawott is the best
Not touching the ending till I get research lvl 10 on every Pokemon I wanna complete at least one Pokemon games Pokedex in my life and beating the story makes me lose all my motivation
There are some you can't do that with until you beat the game though. On top of legendaries you only get through the story, there's also some legendaries you can only get post game and at least 3 non-legendaries you can only find in the wild post game. So several Pokemon will remain incomplete, more if you go for full completion (all research tasks instead of just research level 10)
This game was fantastic imo
If you missed the trailers, I would *highly* recommend the found footage one from October
Omggg I wish this video went thru the whole game. The ending is so abrupt.
Rowan and Kamado are ancestors btw
if you don't see it, look at their mustaches
WAKE UP BABE NEW, VERY IMPORTANT PAPASEA VIDEO DROPPED
Talk to the Guard with the Wurmple.
This makes me wish for a Colloseum 3. That woulda been cool if made more open. I also am not a fan of the names...
"Where do they live?"
Lmao, wish we knew.
Babe, wake up! Papa uploaded
This is the roughest playthrough i have ever watch not look for a part 2.
I picked cydnaquil because nostalgia and a few hours later the game gives you a chimchar and a shiny ponyta
Only if you do all of the side quests. Though obviously you can get both without the side quests as well, just not guaranteed.
Beaugene is the best name. Anyone who doesn't pick it is wrong.
Clicked immediately
Yay
I just finished the game a couple hours ago I think it's really fun hope u have a good time with it
So it's not a long game then...
@@Pyxis10 main story is abut 20 hours if you dont do all the sidequests at the same time lol but theres postgame i havent gotten to yet and a bunch of areas i havent explored fully because i just wanted to get to the credits
@@Pyxis10 it depends on what you do. I’m about 20 hours in and only have beaten the first 2 bosses, I spend a lot of time doing requests, switching my team around, working on the Pokédex, and overall just exploring. There’s so much to do and I haven’t even gotten to the heavy parts of the story yet
I picked Rowlet and have been so happy with that decision! All the starters are amazing still my personal favorite line up of starters!
On a different note this game is just fantastic, sure it has quirks, but it's amazing.
You can get all of them in Space-Time Distortions in the post game, which is nice for those that feel they picked wrong.
@@Kahadi Oh man I totally agree, it's very nice
I just can’t get over the fact that there is blood in this game.
based papasea fellow oshawott enjoyer
I still haven’t crossed the bridge…
My theory is with all these big mechanics change they didn’t want to do a full fledge Pokémon game with multiplayer and everything. This was a great alternative making the game about completing the Pokédex and the fluid mechanics make its fun and engaging .
Competitive Battling would be cool though. I really want to see what the reworked status conditions do for competitive battling.
A nuzlocke is if you die you lose like hardcore mode in minecraft
I love you just because you picked Oshawott.
I got my game yesterday
I thought that at first re:: Nuzlocking but I think you COULD if each 'area' was each little sub section on the map, and if you were VERY careful because its extremely easy for your pokemon to faint considering sometimes you run into a vastly overleveled pokemon out of nowhere lol but pokemon battles with trainers also seem to be fairly uncommon too soooo not sure!
There's a few trainer battles that are unfair, with them sending out 2 or 3 Pokemon at once, which would probably end most Nuzlocke runs. And you need certain numbers of stars to progress far enough, and without being able to catch a lot of Pokemon, that won't be easy at all and will mean a lot of grinding. On one hand that would mean a lot more danger early on because you have to battle dozens of wild Pokemon, risking fainting a lot if you aren't careful. But on the other hand, it could easily end up like a Professor Oak's Challenge run, having to grind so much to get enough research done to progress the story that your Pokemon end up insanely overleveled and making the rest of the game easy.
That's just my guess based on what I know from playing the game though. Maybe it'll take less battles to get enough research than I think, but still...
@@Kahadi Yeahhh having played the game more, to nuzelocke it I think you'd have to add quite a few new rules to it. Like:: Something that forces you to constantly switch out pokemon ASIDE from death. Maybe you can only use pokemon in a certain region, from that region? So you can't bring your pikachu to the bay, for instance. And you CAN catch pokemon to progress but they have to be immediately released if they weren't your 'first encounter'.. and then of course extra to specify what entails a 'first encounter' lol
Not gonna watch until I'm done to be spoiler free as much as possible (even though this has been all up in everyone and their mamas faces for the past half year). My starter is Cyndiquil. I look forward to seeing this video Papasea. Also dang people are already done with the game I just started yesterday after my Shining Pearl run for the Darkrai bonus.
Hell yea
Fun fact, you can catch alpha Pokemon.
and they can be shinyyyyyyy
Bruh that undertale music in the background
Nice
Delelelelelelele *BWOOOP*
I wonder what the next game will be
ok i can't be the only one struggling with this game-
"You can't use a gamepad controller"?
I'm playing it with a third party Switch controller that is similar in design to the Pro Controller and it works just fine.
What kind of controller are you meaning?
I meant gamecube
Finally someone else who chose oshowat
LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOO
My fight with kleavor ending the exact same way and I thought I died too lmao
"You can't really use a gamecube controller for this game"
me who used a gamecube controller for the whole game: :o
Challenge: Do another game how Nintendo intended it, but make it a nuzlocke :)
“PaPasEa aPpRoVed”. Oh please. Sit down.
cry about it
I used a GameCube controller for this whole game.
Why can't you use a GameCube controller for this game? I was gonna buy me a purple wireless one and this is slowly turning into my main game besides skyrim. I haven't used my joycons since I first brought my switch last November. Got it used and it moved slightly to the right sometimes so I just been using a pro controllers.
you can’t sprint with a gamecube controller and there’s no ZL to lock on Pokémon when catching them. it’s still usable but annoying to use
Perhaps…akari/Rei
Is nice to us is because…their the potential love interest….
I mean…they ARE Dawn/Lucas ancestor after all-
its the diamond and pearl character, they are 5 years older from when they became champion
how do you know that? does it tell you that at the end of the game?
well i assumed so since they look like the characters from those games and they are 5 years older than the characters in diamond and pearl, also this region is sinnoh 1000 years ago, so it just makes sense to assume that. your character goes back in time at the beginning of the game.
@@hallabackatcha4829 it isn't Sinnoh 1000 years ago. Its maybe 200 years ago. Way too advanced to be a thousand. But also, while it may be Sinnoh, many of the characters are the ancestors of characters from other regions. Laventon is almost certainly the ancestor of Hop and Leon from Galar, you can find pictures of the ancestors of Maxie and Archie in the Diamond and Pearl settlements, as well as what looks to be Alder. Without going for full spoilers, there's also ancestors of characters from Kanto and Unova, more from Hoenn, as well as possibly some from Kalos and even Alola. So being Sinnoh in the past means nothing about who is there. And you came from a Space-Time Rift, and the Space part would suggest you didn't only travel through time. Finally the outfits the player starts with, while varying between the male and female, resemble outfits from... Well, only one I recall is the male starter outfit is from the Kalos games.
However, it does seem likely to be Dawn or Lucas considering you replace Akari or Rei respectively depending on your choice, whom are almost certainly Dawn and Lucas' ancestors, and in your Galaxy Team Uniform you look more like Dawn or Lucas. Point is, however, its not confirmed either way.
@@Kahadi true
but like aren't you upset they didn't make a strategy guide for this one? of all Pokemon games, this is the one that would have made the most sense to make a strategy guide for, cause of how drastically different it is. But oh well, should have known that it wasn't gonna happen considering sword and shield never got an extended strategy guide that includes the two dlc expansions... OHHHHH WELL
Considering how much you can do and how open your options are in this game, a strategy guide feels worthless. Either its too constricting to be enjoyable, or too vague to be helpful. Strategy guides work for the usual Pokemon games because they're a lot more linear and restricted already.
@@Kahadi that didn't stop nintendo from making a guide for Legend of Zelda breath of the wild, heck they even released an extended edition later on that included the DLC as well, whereas for sword/shield they initially did a guide but then they didn't do a follow up guide for DLC, even tho that is more linear than legends arceus
Pog
I use the pro controller with this game. The start up screen lied to you.
I meant gamecube controller. That's what I prefer to use on switch games but with this game it doesn;'t work well since there isn't a ZL button and you can't dash
@@PaPaSea my mistake. Love your vids.

Technically your female co workers name is a synonym of dawn. Aka light.
Are you going to upload videos for your playthrough or no?
no just this one video
You don't pronounce the p and s in corps.
Normies choose rowlit and cyndaquill.
While "legends" chose oshawott.
What do you mean when you say you can't use a normal controller for this game? If I have to use JoyCons that's a big deal breaker for me.
gamecube controllers, which is what I used at first, don’t work properly with this game
@@PaPaSea booo that's a bad sign
@@warpvector pro controller works great though!

Almost, I have 14 hours played so far and will probably finish today or tomorrow
Is it easy to pick the dodging mechanic?
yes
@@PaPaSea thank you😀
Until you reach a certain point in the game and need almost perfect dodging skills to progress the story, but it warns you beforehand and is towards the end of the story.
Hi

um.. you can use a regular controller for this game. you don't need the joycons at all, idk why you thought that in the slightest
No, the gamecube controller i was using at first doesn't work properly because you cant dash and there's no ZL button
I too avoided all spoilers of the game and thus when my quilava evolved i was pleasantly surprised! He's cute as hell!!!
Except it’s impossible to avoid spoilers it was made known they’d have different forms stop lyin online weirdo
@@TheeJonesss Why would I lie about that? The only thing that kept showing up on my facebook feed was the growlithe, I never saw the starter evos lol
@@TheeJonesss if you watch the trailer, the final evolutions of the starters isn't really visible. Its a brief glimpse of their silhouette forms when evolving, not a full view. But also, what if they didn't watch the trailers in the first place? As hard as it was to avoid spoilers from assholes putting leaks everywhere, I managed myself to only see the reveals of the trailers prior to release and could easily have avoided more spoilers post release if I hadn't been too eager to watch some videos. The spoilers here aren't nearly as bad as they've been for past games, so its very possible they managed to avoid them.
All the NPCs are jerks, and the Pokémon attack you. Guess they finally decided to make Pokémon: Asshole Version.
The Meiji era was just after the Sengoku era. Everyone was still jerks then. (The Meiji era is when the West started showing up and Japan started making major inroads into Hokkaido.)
Most are jerks because they're focused on survival, and someone that won't help their survival is someone that could get them killed. Plus you're a stranger that came from a Space-Time Rift wearing strange clothes and acting really weird when it comes to Pokemon just before some powerful Pokemon start going crazy and threaten the lives of everyone. Simply put, you're suspicious, and if you won't prove otherwise by helping their survival when they are fearful of Pokemon already, then obviously they won't want you around.
As for the Pokemon, they're wild animals and humans are interfering with their lives. If anything its more weird that in the other games they DON'T attack humans, though it was always implied that they would if you didn't have a Pokemon with you. So... Yeah...
Omg the beginning is BOTW all over again
Femboy Cynthia
Well, it's definitely better than SwSh... Really low bar, though
jesus is the framerate awful, though. How can a game look this bad and STILL have frame drops? This looks like Banjo Twoie, the switch should be able to run it easily
After bdsp i am so glad this game is actually good
A brand new game with 15 years old graphics...
it is pronounced "are see us" not "are kee us". in every official time his name is said, that is how it is pronounced.
no matter how I say it someone always comments that it’s said the other way. no matter how you look at it though it really does not matter
