- In this video I give a short tour and test drive of a 2000 Ford Ranger. I take viewers on a close look through the interior and exterior of this car while showing details, over viewing of features, and noting unique styling cues to the vehicle itself. I show the car idling as well as take it on a thorough test drive through the city and highway on various surfaces. A thorough drive of this car designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.

Good solid trucks. Everyone I know who has owned Rangers over the years has always had good experience with them. I just recently bought a 2011, brand new. Had 18 miles on it when I test drove it. Mine is a 4 door XLT in dark metallic gray. Has the 4 litre V6 motor which is nice and powerful. The truck has already earned its keep as it did its fair share of my recent move.
I want a clean ford ranger like that. I could live with that color, Looks classy.
Looks really good for a 2000
Oh I see, well don't want you getting in any trouble. Your videos are the best 5 stars
Your test drives/reviews are the best and you really show the car indept
I love my truck, its an 01 mazda b3000 v6 3L and i just cant let go of it. I have 104,000 miles on it and it still runs like a charm.
@barnie7219 i work for ford motor company on the f-series production line, and we have not had any discussion of discontinuing the ranger. It makes good sales, it makes a good work truck.
That billet grille looks sweet!
my dad had a tan ranger same year. manual windows manual door locks. it had a manual trans.
Well done!
I hate how some people consider a Ranger not a truck just because it's not a V8.
+Aaron Richards (Kush King)
Well I don't know about the Explorer, but the reason I and many others label the Tahoe a "truck" is well It literally shares the Silverado's chassis thus classifying the vehicle as a "truck-based SUV". And seeing how it's a big SUV I can't help but call it a truck.
+Donald V8 I would call the Explorer a truck based SUV as well, if not a truck. The Bronco II was the SUV version of a Ranger, and the Explorer was originally going to be a 4 door version of that before they decided to smooth the edges of it and replace it. The Explorer came standard with the biggest engine offered in the Ranger and had most of the same underpinnings and capabilities, it just didn't have a bed so some people don't like it when they're called trucks for that reason.
The Ranger put the S10 to shame when it was in its prime
My parents have a Ford Expedition, and Ford Explorer, and we all call them trucks.
We also nicknamed the expedition the Tank because it's big and green, but that's just something we do haha.
@Logan Klein Never heard anyone say that before in my entire life.
7:44 Saabkyle04 honked his horn at the jackfaces.
i love these trucks in 2wd V6 form :)
Cool, you shold do more of nighttime test drives :)
nice truck
the tachometer (RPM's) gauge was an option on the ranger until 2004 when they got a new gauge cluster, then it became standard
@huchie182 Nope, not true! It became standard in 2001, not 2004. Moron!
Ford trucks the best, never rest!
you must be a god driver if you can film and drive. nice video!
the transmission on the 1998-2011 Ford Ranger
Transmission Manual
5-speed Mazda M5OD-R1
Automatic
4-speed 4R44E
5-speed 5R55E
@isadorus 4.0 v6s were already out for the explorers and v6 equipped f-150s, but not for the ranger at that time, it had the smaller v6.
I Like This
Nighttime test drive video... OMG you're a genius! amazing! =)
(BTW, we haven't seen a video of your lexus a long time ago, a nighttime test drive video would be awesome! :) )
10* Cheers! :)
@TheCravers3 sounds nice mine was a 1999 ford ranger somone put a roll pan for the rear bumper and was dented and rusty so i replaced with stock chrome and had a bullet grill that was chipping replaced it with stock chrome grill and i sold it to upgrade to an 04 4x4 extended cab 4.0l v6 with 6 disc changer it was like 5 grand with 150k miles but it was sold so i got a 2000 gmc sierra if it wasnt sold i woould of been driving that right now. i love my gmc sierra and my ranger i recommend one!
i like the little ranger, but i'm more of a f-series guy, i got a f-250 diesel, but it is a nice truck.
@jpgbrookes if you can afford the gas, i'd say yes. you got decent seating behind you for people or to hold bags and stuff and you obvs have the nice size bed to put alot of stuff like say, camping equipment if you were gonna camp along the way and not use hotels
Who else thought when he said 2000 ford ranger that he said 2004 ranger
My uncle has a 1994 Ranger XLT Dark Green
He said: 2000 Ford Ranger. Ford sounds like four but without the d.
compared to the regular cab, does the extended cab have more head room?
@Eric Stephenson It’s the exact same.
@kendrickevans301 The new explorer reminds me of the freestlye station wagon they did a few years back maybe more people will switch to Chevy for their big suv needs :D
I either want a 2000 or a 2003 ranger.
@TJC450 i don't know about that, i mean there's still the expedition. chevy doesn't have a mid size suv no more ( chevy trail blazer). They have a crossover, chevy traverse, that's still not as capable as the trailblazer.
@kendrickevans301 those infinitis are nice im surprised she didnt get something like a explorer or flex and I never knew GM has been sold and bought so many times.
and i think the new explorer is not what the explorer is what it used to be since its FWD now :(
You should do an in-dept tour of a ford ranger.
@kendrickevans301 oh really? Thats really cool!
The closest car assembly plant to me is where they build the Chevy cobalt. and its a few hours away in ohio
Ive always wanted to go to one but i dont think they let you in anymore
@Saabkyle04 Hey Kyle, I know this was video is getting to be along time ago but, do you remember the ride quality? I'm planning on getting anywhere from a 1993-2000 Ranger with a manual soon and I was wondering how the ride was for a small truck since i've only been in and driven full size trucks before.
when i meet you bring a 1984 Dodge RAM 250 with a 318 v8 4 speed auto manual windows locks and mirrors runs pretty good just needs a choke 214,377 miles. drives perfect shifts perfect no rust no damage with JVC stereo and metal steal box on the bed
hey quick question i just had my 1999 3.0 v6 ranger engine rebuilt and i wanna knw if you knw wat the best way to break the engine in would be. thx for your time and hope to hear from you soon
the 1998-present Ford Ranger is assembled in
Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States
Edison, New Jersey, United States
my ranger had the samething you just need to replace like 2 or 3 lights and your good to go and they are not LED would be cool tho
@saabkyle04
Would the ford ranger be a good choice for doing a coast to coast roadtrip?
@kendrickevans301 haha i accidently typed it twice I meant to say "I think Ford makes the f series up to the 450" I know Ford has just a little bit more towing capacity but the new Dodge Ram was the best truck now two years in a row
It's a 3.0 liter! I had one of these.. Miss it.
@kendrickevans301 So do u build all the f series trucks from the 150 up to to the 450 i think they make it up to sorry not a big ford fan (GM guy) here and what about the explorer since its based off the f150 chassis?
Does anybody know what kind of aftermarket grille that is? Looks sweet!
my stepdad had a 1997 ford rander xl boring, but it was good truck, the truck times long time for the motor to warm up lol
Hey I plan to be done my drivng school soon, and I been thinking of what kind of vehicle to get, alot of people mention like Sunfires, and Cavaliers to me, but I know alot of people who had those vehicles, and they all had problems with them. Anyways I been looking at the Ford Rangers for a while now, would someone recommend me a year for a Ford Ranger? I been thinking 2000 - 2004? Also I been practice driving a Ford Escape, so trucks don't bother me.
whats the differants between the 2000 and the 98'?
my dad has a 2004 Ford Ranger XLT 4 x4. I love the way this truck drives, but I am
really not a truck person. I like SUV's, but really not a fan of pick up trucks. One thing I don't like about my dads truck is that the seats go up way to high. I love my 1994 Ford Taurus GL, the thing rides like new with 106,000 miles on it, never had a problem with it. For my next car, I'm not sure if I want another Taurus or if I want a Lincoln town car!
i have the exact truck but it's the regular version
bought it in 2010 for around $1000
it still runs but the transmission is kind of slow
@kendrickevans301 I'm sad that GM cut the trailblazer Envoy I thought they were the perfect size for everything! Now they have these "crossovers" which to me are just big station wagons.
do you have a review on this truck?
best test drive video ever but im not a fan of these kind of rangers, everybody has different opinion.
@TJC450 ikr, they have straight up backs.
@PKA19 highly recomended.....id also recomend a 2001 and up.....ranger is the way to go !!!!!!!!!!!!
@MVPBallin tanoe covers, don't know if i spelled it right, but you can sound it out lo.
Nice video! My friends got the 3.0, too.
@TJC450 oh. I love the ford's. I love its auto trac 4WD,king ranch interior ( optional) and is great power. The f-150 has been the best selling 1500 pickup for 30 years. Ford does not " copycat " like GM does. GM copied ford's " auto trac 4WD " and electronic shifter. The only thing that GM is good at is getting loans lol, although they pay em off in full, like the last one lol. We maintain are financil state. No car maker is perfect, but GM makes 2 many bad mistakes.
@jpgbrookes actually yes
Esta Es Una Super Caida
Where are the RPM's on the dash?
@kendrickevans301 my grampas s10 had those as well very uncomfortable I think they could have figured out a better design
@TJC450 agree 100%
@TJC450 250 and 350. 150 and 450+ are built seperatley. by the wa, what did you mean about " i think they make it up"? f-450+ can tow 24,000 lbs, GM's chevy 3500 can only tow 21,000 lb.
a lowered truck is so counter productive
how much did it sell for
@TJC450 The only way our assembly plant will let you in is if you are a tv production company, or some kind of teacher that is on a field trip,or something like that, but i have never heard of individuals coming and visiting.
@MrDyson01 He owns it.
They let you take vehicles out for test drives in the night? I didn't not know that. I thought it would be too much of a liability.
i just like seeing ford trucks lowered with some nice rims to show those chevy guys wat the blue oval can do :-)
@TJC450 yep, and all this negativity comes from a man that works for Ford Motor Co on the f-series production line, so you know i'm not just talking.
is that a 3.0 or a 4.0 V6 ???
because the 2wd are better in V6 form and iam a mexican who loves seeing ford rangers lowered and gangstered out :)
Aww why did you turn Van Halen off?
@josh198869 I know right, i noticed that he said that lol.
3.09 Risky, playing Roger Waters version of 'Comfortably Numb', in a pick up truck, in the night, can have bad results ;)
I heard that Ford is going to discontinue the Ranger soon, probably why it hasn't been updated in so long
WHATS UR CAR
@TJC450 She likes big, just like me. I don't like the new explorer, being it won't be able to do what the previous " body on frame " constructed truck based model could. They are putting a ecoboost 4cyl, and a v6 in it, come on man, what the hell happened? I have no say so in the design aspect of my job, all i do is build the damn things, but i would have made a bat mobile before i constructed a "uni-body" explorer. This truck has been the best selling midsize SUV for a while, i don't thk so now
what engine does this one have
4.0 l v6
You don’t test drive a car with the radio on. You can’t hear if there’s any problems with the engine
where the hell are your RPM's???
I hate when i dont see rpms
@chillywinter16 for what are we talking about? Trucks? if its trucks, hands down Ford. Subaru and Mazda dont make trucks. I've always thought Toyta trucks are garbage as to me, there more luxury than workhorses with luxury on the side. I've never heard much of the Honda Ridgeline so I cant help you there. But if its cars we're talking about, Honda hands down. Honda's get amazing gas mileage and have the longest lifespan of any car on the market past or present

@kendrickevans301 I have seen kind ranches in person boy now thats the definition of TRUCK lol! I have also heard back in 2006 Ford had to take like 24.6 billion or something like that
thetruthaboutcars.DOT (,) com bailout-watch-367-ford-a-bailout-by-any-other-name/
im not trying to make an argument here that would be dumb but im just saying everyone claims ford as "bailout free"
but...but my son doesn't no how to drive a ford ranger
Good Milk Did you know Ranger Os A very good type of a car Not A Truck Because This Is A Ranger
@TJC450 I have a 2009 ford expedition king ranch 4x4, 2009 ford f-250 king ranch 4x4, infiniti QX56 ( my wife wanted it, don't care about imports), and a 1993 Ford Bronco. I know ford has made " bail out plans", but ford is paid off, GM has been sold and bought about 15 times since they been around., in turn being a mortgaged company. GM has more car branches han ford, which is why they re 1st in the big three, then ford, then chrysler. Ford has made mistakes, but none like GM.
I hate sitting those back seats uggh so uncomfortable and make me car sick.
Good god that green backlighting is hideous
It's not that bad.
I have an Explorer of the same year with the same exact gauges.
