- In this video I give a short tour and test drive of a 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins Diesel. I take viewers on a close look through the interior and exterior of this truck while showing details, over viewing of features, and noting unique styling cues to the vehicle itself. I show the truck idling as well as take it on a thorough test drive through the city and highway on various surfaces. A thorough drive of this truck designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.

You cannot beat the sound of a 24V VP44 Cummins. I have had mine almost 2 years now and never listen to the radio. The Cummins engine and Turbo are my music.
I know I’m 5 years late to ask you this question but have you got any problems? I’m thinking of buying 1999 Ram 2500 with the Cummins and only has 120k KM’s on it.
get it P pump swapped & add a FASS fuel system and you've got the best motor from that time period.@@nemesis3884
Lmao
Powored Cummins ISB 5.9L
for anyone that hateing... this is a real diesel engine..this is how a diesel engine should sound..not that quite diesel crap.. and to me this truck sounds like if I'm on a Kenworth or Freightliner Classic I also love the Caterpillar C15 that's also a great engine but every time I'm in my second gen or 4th gen just cruising around I feel like if I'm inside a semi truck 😍😂👍
Jesusalvarez210 Kinglove too bad this is 24V and not 12V Cummins 6BT
@@neoherbalcares465 6.7 is a better engine I think.
Y’all car lovers sticking with the amateur engines. This is cool and all but NOTHING beats the sound of an EMD 710 prime mover
@@tankman_tv9332 That really is beautiful, but I prefer to stick to engines that I can practically commandeer myself on a daily basis...
Cummins are definitely the best sounding diesels
I think the duramax is but we all have are opinions
There the most reliable
I like the rumble of a catipiller engine
To be fair, all diesel trucks sound great!
+Justin Hazen you took the words outta my mouth
There's just something about the sound of a 5.9 Cummins that just relaxes me
I remember driving my brother's first Cummins pickup truck when I had my learner's permit of learning to drive, they're amazingly awesome to drive.
The older body style trucks are fun to use between Detroit Diesels
I like the chevy 6.5 diesel,7.3 powerstroke and 5.9 cummins.
I'm a chevy duramax man.
It feels weird knowing that this video was filmed in Reidsville, NC. because I live in Reidsville, NC.
see u soon
I use your youtube test drive videos as my white noise to help me sleep at night. also I am autistic. i like Dodge Rams, SUV's, and Airbus A321 aircraft as a hobby. i also like Yamaha stereo receivers
this is my favorite truck of all time! Ford may be more reliable but Dodge knows how to make the best looking trucks.
You’re right bout that
I love the duramax but I'll always remember ridein in in my gramps cummins, nothin like the sound of a cummins
I love the sound of ya moma Cummins!!
My grandpa used to own a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 and a 2500. Damn that Cummins is a unique sound
I've waited a long time for a video like this. Those Rams with the Cummins motors are by far my favorite trucks. Thanks for the test drive bro!
Another great video, man. I like the fact that you don't only stick to one type of vehicle. You do anything from Lamborghini Gallardos to 99' Dodge Rams. Truly amazing!
The sound of the truck switching from park to drive is😙👌💪
My grandfather has a 2001 Cummins Diesel Manual Transmission. You could always here it when it was coming. I always loved the engine sound.
When he's driving, it sound like a school bus!
The older buses use the same 5.9 24-valve Cummins that is in this Dodge pickup. So you would be correct.
***** Yeah, memories... I'm pretty sure the Freightliner School Buses from the Early 2000's had this same engine, I can clearly recognize the sound.
Oh by the way, I'm in Jr. High, Grade 7.
I gained mostly all the knowledge about automobiles from Saabkyle's video's, but the rest comes from common knowledge
Ford, Freightliner, Thomas, Blue Bird all used the 5.9 Cummins. Practically every brand of heavy equipment used a 5.9 Cummins at some point. I rode in a Blue Bird with a 5.9 today.
MichaelTJD60 Cool.
MichaelTJD60 Few had the 12 valve.
I am a huge Dodge Ram fan. I love how you do these videos about diesel trucks. I say this video is a thumbs up, without a doubt.
nothing better than the sound of a cummins
Love the sound of a Cummins! Thanks for uploading this video.
I like me a Cummins, but I prefer a manual transmission in a Cummins.
the interior is in really nice shape for a truck that age and with those many miles. I knew someone who had a Ram from this gen. It lasted forever and for all I know, he still has it!!
Getting an 01 Cummins in a few days. Can't wait. Best sounding and best performance diesel truck around.
my grandchildren will watch this and wonder what a key is
The Ram or a wheel
Or a headphone jack
The Ram there's a simple explanation why base trims are the way to go nowadays.
@@LoyalmoonieProductions
Even many base models of non luxury cars don't have real keys.
The Ram My grandkids will watch this and wonder who you are
Man I just love the sound of a diesel.
(to skip to test drive) 2:43,
(to resume test drive) 4:58
(to hear some great 5.9 sounds) 7:13
I just bought a 2012 6.7 cummins and I love it! It sounds amazing and can tow like a fricken boss!!!!!!!!!
I love my 99 Dodge Cummins. Great truck and pulls like a mule. I don't ever even use the radio/cd player. I drive it and listen to the awesome engine sound and turbo. No radio needed.
Unique and excellent review which has combined it with the test drive. IMO in this way it is a time-saver and also more interesting.
Oh boy, this truck is in absolutely beautiful shape! And, I've always loved Rams with this styling, and having that awesome Cummins engine makes it better.
My dad had one of these when I was like 8. Hated riding in the back because it was cramped and the seats suck, but loved the sound of that engine
This truck sounds like my 99 bluebird bus
0:58 Starts right up and she purrs like a tiger
Great vid. The 5.9 cummins is legendary.
I remember these trucks well. It does sound like a school bus going down the road. Good video Kyle!
Thanks for the video Kyle, it was cool to have a test drive portion.
Gotta love a cummins
Awesome vid, Kyle! Makes me want one. I've always loved that bodystyle...
Great video as always Kyle! That truck is in good condition for the miles and age!
Nice truck I always loved how the heavy duty version has a little more of a truck sound. I do have a olive green 1999 Chevy Silverado 1500 Tonka truck that is 2 door and has a black interior.
One of the best trucks ever!
Got to admit... I love this Cummins sound.
That's a beast of an engine! Cummins make some of the best diesels in the world.
Definitely one of my favorite videos from you Kyle. Keep up the good work!
love the sound of that truck
Wow the automatic shifts great! My friend has a stick shift, but the auto clutches really nice and sounds cool.
Good Video Of That Dodge Ram Diesel!
your best video yet!!!!!
Thank you ive benn trying to fid a video that shows the interior of these trucks yours is the first ive ocme across
The first Dodge Ram Cummins you uploaded was a 1991 (actually a 1991.5 because it was intercooled). I'm glad you got to do so many generations of Dodge Ram Cummins. After 1998 this generation engine was a 24-valve ISB Cummins but still a 5.9 until 2002.
I can totally see me in a ram 2500, blasting either Volbeat or AS like that down the road ^-^ love this!!!
Yay! Someone else who likes volbeat
Lol I was just blasting volbeat still counting in my ram 2500 with a 10 inch woofer behind the passenger seat. Unfortionaly I dont have the Cummins, I have the V10 magnum. Needs a new catalytic converter as well as plugs and wires then she will be good to go! Only 158k miles on a 2001. 10.8 mpg on hwy with cruise set. 7 with my foot in it!
Sounds Just Like The Bus I Rode In Elementary School In 2011 In 3rd Grade A 2003 Bluebird All-American FE Handy Bus
I love the engine, high rpm for accelerating, then extremely low rpm for the torque enough to support the speed.
I like the sound of the 24 Valve cummins with an automatic. Sounds like a bus.
@JTyler52 Thanks for answering that question. A buddy of mine said that to me and I was like... HUH? I dont want 2 vehicles and I feel like I need a truck for my lifestyle even though I dont haul trailers. I do carry alot of supplies in the bed and go off highway alot and I have been thinking about getting a diesel just because I know they can go 500,000 fairly easy with less maintenance than a gas engine. (built tougher I guess due to the higher operating pressures right?)
Wrong, they require even more maintenance.
Truck is great for me because I can carry a grand piano or a huge tv from goodwill
@@amdg2023 10 years later. Lol
I love the sound of a cummins diesel. Maybe it's because two of my uncles have at least two each lol.
beautiful sound!!!
So beatiful truck man!!
What a nice sounding engine!
love this video
I drive an LS1 Trans Am, but i would love to have one of these. The engine sounds hard-core!!
Truck sounds beast bro
@saabkyle04 great vid as always keep up the great work
That truck is such a beast...Great video..I definitely like this style video too..But I do enjoy the other ones as well. Gotta say...Avenged Sevenfold on the radio definitely added to the allure of this vid :)
thank you very much for this video!
I love the sound of cummins engines
oh and kyle great vid as always
One of my favorite trucks is a second gen Cummins
Fantastic Sound!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
its a beautiful sounding truck.
A real truck,lovely
wow tha trucks in good shape for the amount of work it has done
I love my 99 long bed but I really wish I wasn't stuck with the beige interior the gray just looks allot cleaner
Cummins sound is Great!
The engine have a wonderful raw sound.
thats a beautiful truck....
Beautiful truck
i love ram diesel, they are the best trucks out there!
Those 1999 cummins engines as just full of power! Never endig power. Gotta love cummins!
Mine was a originally a 5 speed the po converted it to a built auto from suncoast love this truck
God damn these things sound amazing stock. Even better straight piped.
Wow this has wiper controls? That’s incredible!
I love this truck so much
love the sound!!!!!
That is a beautiful sounding engine, to me 12valve Cummins r the best and they sound the best.
It's a 24-valve
Best diesel engine in the world
VERY VERY VERY NICE SOUND !
God I love that sound
Jennifer Manzo
I feel like I’m back on the school bus going to middle school driving in a Cummins haha.
the 5.9 liter Cummins sounds like those fancy classic blue bird school buses
You were the first person I knew that said Dodge’s 1994 - 2002 steering wheels are leather wrapped
Am i the only one who got pumped that avenged sevenfold was playing when he turned on the radio? Beastly truck
Oh, nightmare? Good song, good car!
finally a test drive...
love this truck !!!!
AWESOME.
i love this gen =)
Most beautiful sound known to man.
I want one of these so bad. Sport package would be nice I'd be extremely grateful if I had this one though lifted and different wheel setup.
The camera shakes when that cummins is on 😂
I want this truck for my first car. I think diesel are reliable and won't broke down like a gas engine! Also because this is a Cummins 5.9, I don't have to deal with an EGR and DPF!
Because I like a School bus, I prefer a diesel than a gas truck like Magnum V8! and I want a Dodge Ram with a Manual Tran!
Good choice man
What’s wrong with a magnum V8? Asking for a friend
Actually that’s a really good idea man! I recently got mine as my first car, I would seriously recommend it
Tone True welp, I chose the cummins because of reliability and power, I would have chosen the magnum but I like cummins better
The 12 Valve Cummins Diesel Is Therapeutic To Hear Running.
If you're referring to the truck featured here, it's a 24v. Both sound nice.
24 valve
2 input
2 output valves
Config-6 cyl inline.
I wish Detroit Diesel would start making engines for pickups, the sound from a Detroit is unbeatable. Especially in those old buses with the 6V92's, man I love that sound!
They did for GM before with their 6.5 and 6.2 until Duramax came and take overs in the 2000s I still wish it’s was 2 stroke DD though
love the cummins and love the song on the radio (avenged sevenfold nightmare)
love that Cummins peerrr
