yeah that generation looks a lot more nicer than the ones today, but i mean the new ones looks alright but the front end looks a little more ugly in my opinion lol :)
For those who wanted to know the songs on the radio from 6:35 to 6:53, the first one was "Against All Odds" by Phil Collins, and the second one was "Break" by Three Days Grace. You're welcome.
Nice truck, no visible smoke, coolant reservoir is clear, injectors tick sounds healthy, no boost leaks from the sound while driving. 109k miles low miles, no hitch In the bed so wasn’t used to towed a lot. All in all that’s a clean truck.
I’m glad to have found this video. I’ve been wanting one of these 01-02 Duramax trucks for 8 years now and I believe I found one I want to pull the trigger on. These rigs are hands down my favorite Edit: I ended up buying the truck and it has not disappointed me one bit. You just have to know when buying an LB7, you have to save for injectors because they will go out. I just did mine and I love the truck even more now
We got a 2003 silverado 2500 hd, and I've never seen a truck work as much as this thing! We've pulled an 18 wheeler who was stuck in mud out a few years back! He was pretty shocked!
That's exactly why I own an 02 durmax and my dad has an 87 silvarado longbed. U can't break them if u tried lol. Sure the interiors ain't as nice as the cummins and powerstroke but u just can't beat silvarados they are always the best. I love mine so much haha
I love this generation, The GMT800 with LB7 Duramax is probably my favorite Diesel/Truck combination of all time for a pick up. I don't like the newer styles personally and these LB7s are powerhouses. You can get 900whtq and over 400rwhp easily with simple bolt on upgrades and a tuner. Amazing power.
If there is one thing I have noticed through these vids is that the Duramax is definately a quieter then the 5.9 Cummins and the 7.3/6.0 Powerstroke! I love Chevys!
The owner traded that truck in at 109k because it needed injectors you can get tell when he revs it you see white smoke caused by injectors leaking and burning more fuel.
My friend's sister has an 02 Duramax as well. The first thing I noticed when I started it was that the injectors were out; it was blowing smoke through the air vents. Can anyone tell me why a lot of the 01-2 Duramaxes have so much injector problems?
JDFan98 its called hazing it happens over age. If you have 1 or 2 faulty injectors you should replace them all, it is a costly job and no point waiting for the rest to go and having to repeat the same process. This truck is nice- shame its 2wd.
Its also being revved cold and not at operating temp! Which will cause it to be hazy. CP4 gonna be strained since there is less than a 1/4 tank and prob no sump or lift pump
Im not really a fan of Chevy, but i love the interiors of late 90's early 2000's. And those power specs are more than i had ever expected. Its an eye opener XD.
My dad has a 2002 3500hd dually and just last summer he spent a shit ton of money on new rocker panels and cab corners as well as having the frame undercoated and having oil(I believe its oil) sprayed in the panels because they were rusted out. When I save up for a diesel I'm definitely gonna get an 01-02. My favorite body styles!!
The cummins definitely has that 6 cyl whiney raspy sound, with an aftermarket exhaust it always reminds me of an 18 wheeler tractor trailor. The powerstroke always has a distinct whistle to me along with a slight v8 sound. The duramax definitely reminds me of a typical Detroit Diesel 4 stroke V8 like the 6.2, 6.5 as well as the medium duty 8.2L fuel pincher of the 1980s. it has a real throaty V8 diesel clack with a slight turbo whistle.
This is the best looking Chevy ever! I just wish he would have offered some feedback on how this model compares with the Ford and Dodge where drivability is concerned. Isn't that the point of a test drive?
2000truckman This body style went until 2007 and the newer style came out in 2007.5. However the front end was changed in 2003 and again in 2005/2006ish
I have a 2002 Chevy 2500hd,Silverado Duramax with Allison. Just got injectors replaced and EFI tunes added. AWESOME TRUCK!!! But, I always said that if you could have a 5.9 Cummins, a Chevy body and ride with an Allison, and a Ford frame and running gears... you'd have a perfect truck.
Spinoman really means powerstroke>dirtymax>precummins I'm a ford guy myself but this thing is pretty nice. Sounds good and except for some cheesy exterior "face lifts" it looks pretty nice too. Grew up in a gmc so this things familiar to me lol
Dude Kyle i appreciate it so very much. I'm glad to see you choose the 02 Chevy HD. I've always loved that style since my father bought the identical pickup with the 6.0 Vortec. If i lived down in NC i would buy that truck. Just wondering how much do you guys have that truck up for sale for?
@whatthehallbetch He is *kind of* right. On a lot of engines, the location of the oil pressure sending unit is such that if the engine sludge up and plugs the pick up for oil it will peg the oil pressure gauge at the max. A cold engine is going to have higher oil pressure anyway.
@whatthehallbetch If you hook up a mechanical gauge up to it, you'll notice the gauge in the dash stays the same whereas the mechanical gauge will go up and down. Not sure why they included a gauge if it's not functional. If I remember right, there were a few reflashes for the last Jeeps to have them (Grand Cherokees, Wranglers and Cherokees with the 4.0) that turned the oil pressure gauge into a fake one too!
Wow a 2002.... man look how time flies. Imagine the original owner driving this to and from work. Original owner has to be a construction worker or similar trade.

Not a fan of the Chevy/GM trucks, but good video nontheless :) Could you try and find a GMC Envoy XUV? I just learned the existence of the thing and it looks like one of the best things that ever came out of GM's factories!
id love to have one of these but more around the end of the generation, like a 2006-2007 ive heard the most common problem with these are the fuel injectors failing
@MrChevyman95 this has the lb7.... lb7 was the first then in 04.5 came the lly. In 06 they switched to a different lly that basically was the same as the lbz just lower power. The lbz came in 06.5. After that was the LMM and now the LML
@hashslinging The newer steering wheels are actually a lot nicer I think, to have all the display functions like anything to do with gas, hours on the engine, miles, it has multiple trips that you can have on or off. And you can control the radio from the steering wheel which doesn't seem that big but it is very nice to have.
@89NAYG they've been saying that for a while now, i first saw it in the suburban 2500hd z71 diesel concept. i really wish they'd go back to diesels in the half tons. Thanks man, yea i always get my gen's messed up.

by far the best hd diesel out there! the 6.0 powerstroke sucks and the cummins in the ram outlasts the truck it self, the chevy has the best ride and is the most refined by far.
