If it was a 4WD I’d buy it in a heartbeat.
Those 2.3L 4cyl engines are Bulletproof.
We’re on our 4th Ranger 4WD. 2 of them had the 2.3L, 5spd 4X4. We had 470K on the one my wife flipped in a ditch after hitting a patch of ice. The other one had just over 300K miles.
The new Ranger’s have the 2.3L but they’re now a turbo and Ford has problems with their turbos.
I wouldn’t buy one, but if they brought back a naturally aspirated 2.3L like the older ones, I’d definitely consider buying one in XL trim with the vinyl flooring. It would be a great little pickup in regular cab, short bed for an easier drive to get me to my fishing spot and for off roading in tight areas.

    I’d LOVE to have a Ranger with the 2.3L 4cyl, 5spd but I need a 4WD.
    We’re on our 4th Ranger.
    We’ve owned 2 , 4X4 Ranger’s with the 2.3L .
    They are Bulletproof engines.
Our 88 had 370K miles when my wife didn’t have it in 4WD, hit a patch of ice and flipped it in a ditch. Thankfully she was ok, but it totaled the pickup. It still ran like new.
We bought it back from the insurance company for $300.
My father- in- law fixed the cab enough so we could put another windshield in.
We left it on my In-laws 17K acre ranch in MT as a grunt truck.
It was still running great after a few more years but the electrical system fried so that was the end of that pickup.
When we owned it I changed the oil and filter every 3K miles and changed the transmission, front and rear differential, transfer case every 30K miles.
Our 84 Ranger 4WD with the 2.3L , 5 spd had over 300K on it, but we needed a a pickup with a V6, so in 97, we bought a 90 Ranger super cab with the 3.0L. It only had 50K miles on it and we knew the owner. He too changed the oil every 3K miles, but when it hit 80K miles it started burning oil like crazy.
    We had ordered a 96 F150 4WD with the 4.9L (300) In-line 6cyl.
We sold the 90 Ranger and kept driving the 96 F150.
The 90 Ranger with the 3.0L V6 got the same mileage as the 96 F150 with the 4.9L.
We drove the 96 F150 until 2019. It had almost 400K.
I had to replace the valve cover gasket and a rear main seal at 300K miles. My mechanic wanted $1,500 to fix those 2 items because he had to either drop the transmission or pull the engine to get to the rear main seal.
I asked my mechanic how much to rebuild the engine and he quoted me $3,500, so I had him rebuild it. The engine was still running great but heck if he was going to pull the engine anyway for a couple of grand more, why not rebuild the engine.
In 19, the 1st gear in the 4spd auto transmission was growling so I knew that a new transmission would be soon so we sold the F150.
We came across a 2011 Ranger with the 4.0L V6 and a 5spd automatic transmission 4WD super cab XLT with only 20K miles.
The original owner was 62 years old when he bought it.
He added custom wheels, running boards and pin stripes.
It booked out for $22K, but he sold it to us for $18K. It still had the factory tires on it.
It has a tow pkg and skid plates.
Before adding a K&N intake and a 3” FlowMaster exhaust I was getting 19mpg on the freeway with the cruise set on 75mph. After those 2 mods, I now get 23 mpg.
We don’t like Silver, Gray, Charcoal Gray or Black, but our current 11 Ranger is Silver so I had it 2 toned. It’s now Silver over Red metallic. The interior was gloomy gray and boring black, so I had it reupholstered in Red with black trim and stitching. I also added adjustable air shocks to the rear. Before adding the air shocks I could haul 1/2 a yard of Topsoil and now I can haul just over a full yard. In 2020 my wife had LineX spray in bed liner done for my birthday gift.
2 years ago the factory tires were done so I had Cooper Discoverer A/T put on.
We mainly use our Ranger for work around our property.
I change the oil and filter every 6 months ( about every 1,500 miles). We average around 3K miles a year. I use Kirkland full synthetic oil as Kirkland oil flows quicker in cold weather.
Our daytime highs during the winter is usually around 25 degrees F and below Zero at night.
We currently have only 36K original miles and now that I’m pushing 60 years old, I’m sure we’ll be driving our Ranger until we can no longer drive or we’re dead.
The limited slip differential is always a plus.
We were at the ranch in MT when it hit 30K miles and the transmission was shifting kinda rough, so by the time we got home we had 33K miles on it. Our mechanic was booked up for 6 weeks so I took it to the Ford dealership in East Wenatchee, WA and had them change the front and rear differential, transfer case and transmission fluid / grease and now the transmission shift’s smooth as silk.
Last summer I had 2 different people offer to buy our Ranger. 1 offered me $25K and the other 1 offered me 28K. It’s not for sale.
The man who offered me the 28K is the man who 2 toned the Ranger. When I picked it up after it was repainted he asked me then if I wanted to sell it. Of course I told him No.
Then last summer I had to go into the auto body shop to see if they knew of a good place to have it pin striped. While there he offered me $28K for it. I told him again that it wasn’t for sale.
He then told me that if I ever wanted to sell it to please talk to him about it first.
To replace my Ranger with a new one, it would cost about $55-$60K.
    I’ve been thinking about pulling the 4.0L V6 and replacing it with a 5.0L (302) V8.
I’d like some feedback from whoever has read this post.
What are your thoughts about putting a 302 V8 in my 11 Ranger?
There’s enough room in the engine bay without any cutting. It’s a snug fit but it can be done.
    Thoughts?

One of our neighbors owned the exact same Ranger and between buying it new in late 1999 and 2022, when he gave it to his son, he put just shy of 500,000 miles on it. He drove it daily to and from work, a roughly 150 mile round trip, and around town and the surrounding area on his days off. The truck was always properly serviced and had the original engine and manual transmission in it when he gifted it. The son now drives it to and from college and to and from his part time job six days a week and has put another eighteen thousand on it the last I heard.

At 233,000 miles, I was about to donated it but I had an investment that I couldn't pass up, so I'll continue driving it for another year or less. One thing I do like about it is it's truck bed, fuel economy (which is "ok") and this truck's natural "Anti-theft device", which is the 5 speed manual shift, which most folks don't even know how to operate, lol.

That Ford Ranger would be an easy flip. I put a cheap Maco paint job on it (original color). Plenty of life left in it. I'd pass on the Ford Flex, just don't see any money in it. Hells yes on the GMC Truck. Money to be made, Shoot some freon juice in and good to go.

Hello Randy. The 2000 Ford Ranger is a good looking truck. The 2014 Ford Flex is a good looking SUV.

    G'afternoon Randy ☕☕ 🤠 . You can score a couple gems w/ the 5.7 vortech GMC & the lil' 2.4 Ranger that'll cover all your p/u needs from econobox - towing it's a no-brainer 🤠

That Monte Carlo reminds me of that car that that guy was in love with years ago. Actually they made a 10 years later video on that guy and he’s in love with a new car now lol

............that burgundy Chev pick-up that you fancied IS a nice little truck, great wheels on it too, Chevy can put nice alloys on their cars/trucks. But hey, I'd buy it just because it was showing a full tank of gas......you didn't notice that, did ya?! Hell, a full tank of gas would cost a couple of hundred dollars right there. :)

Adjuster assumed frame damage. Is there some? Who knows. They found it cheaper to total and send to auction then pay a body shop to check.

That FLEX was probably showing 37° cause it was set to Celcius which would be around 98.6° Fahrenheit

I have a 2014 flex with the turbo EcoBoost. Cooled seats in the touch screen for limited models if equipped. 212000 mi and hasnt skipped a beat its been my uber vehicle. Ford Flex has a problem with electronic power steering rack. They will lock up at random times. Mine did it at 210 thousand miles. Replace the rack and you're good to go.
I just had a private guy do it I got a used unit from AESOP in KC. I think it cost me like $700 all in with parts and labor.
Also It had America's Car-Mart, dealer plate and sticker on it, buy here pay here place prey on credit poor folks. Huge in arkansas and missouri. So its more then likely a repo because they have in house insurance they sell with there cars.

You rock! Great walkaround 👍 I can’t wait for the day when you find a manual VW golf GTI VR6 6-speed! A manual hot-hatchback is just what you need😎
