I honestly think Going Commando had better worlds, weapons, and battle arenas.
But Dr. Nefarious is all kinds of awesome.
I agree with the worlds, but nah the weapons were overall a lot better in this game.

Fun fact one of the level designers got in trouble for using the color purple too much, and it wasn't the guy that did the Courtney Gears level.
So some are saying the GUI is more yellow than orange.....It kinda looks that way doesnt it? Personally its more of a Tuscany Sunrise if ya ask me. Real talk tho, either it be orange or yellow......it aint blue thats for sure!

+Nathaniel Foga I never really enjoyed the Clank parts of the games, especially the Giant Clank stuff. It wasn't til A Crack in Time where the clank stuff was fun and interesting. I also enjoyed the Clank stuff in Into the Nexus. So hopefully the new game will have some good Clank content. Not sure if SuperButterBuns just doesn't like the Clank gameplay like me, or if there is more to it.

When a ranger gets the nickname cabin boy for trying to take on a Robotic Ghost Pirate with a Quack-O-Ray and a Half Charged Crotchitiser, I feel an obligation to help that ranger. For real I love their missions those guys were just brilliant.

It was also the first of the ratchet & clank series to have some sort of multiplayer gameplay.
Followed up by ratched and clank gladiator which had Co-Op.
+The Man With The Game Plan Yeah, over here all we got for titles was R&C, R&C 2, R&C 3, and the Future Trilogy wasn't R&C Future, it was just R&C if that makes any sense.

I'm not ashamed to admit, I liked that Courtney Gears song. I was listening to it on repeat a few weeks ago for like 4 hours at work.

- Ratchet wasn't wrong when after Qwark's betrayal he said Clank spent the entire time searching for Qwark and really didn't know anything about him
- Secret Agent Clank - just about everything I dislike about Clank comes into how he treats Ratchet when SAC is involved

Tip for Aquatos' sewers; Use the Disk Blade gun. I just unload that thing in the beginning of the sewers and thirty minutes later they're still floating around somewhere. Plus; Since everything is all tubey, they're perfect to launch around.

I really liked the Ranger sections. It made me feel like I was actually part of a galactic military.
My two main problems were that 1) it was a tad short, but given that any longer and it might have dragged on, I can forgive this, and 2) I would have liked more section with the Terraguise and the laser gadget thing. I really liked them and would have liked more of them then all the hacker sections they had.

I'm no beginner, in fact I have a higher number of "R"s in this game than I am old, but I still enjoy this and other similar videos because of your brilliant commentary with the extensive attention to detail. It really brings me back to the days when I first played these games. I always feel a special sense of joy whenever someone acknowledges the existence of these, the jak and daxter, and the sly cooper games just because they were such a big part of my childhood. It seems the golden age of ps1 and 2 platforming is often overlooked these days which is sad seeing as a bullshit series like call of duty is still being manufactured by the year. Love this series, hope you keep it up. #BringBackPlatformersForPlaystation
For R&C neophytes, I'd recommend starting with the first game and playing them in order. (Once you're used to strafing, it's hard to go back to the first game where the feature was absent). The first game is great, but Going Commando added a few welcome improvements (and things that were omitted from the first game for budget/time reasons like the spherical worlds). Up Your Arsenal is probably equally good as the 2nd game, but Going Commando will forever be my favourite (it was my first PS2 game).
But having said that, my two favourite cut-scenes in the whole franchise are in R&C3; The bit where Ratchet mimes the Courtney Gears music video, and the Dr Nefarious monologue where Lawrence hilariously translates into sign language.
as much as i enjoyed up your arsenal, i personally gotta love deadlocked out of the series. it was so modern for its time and made it feel really dark and cool.
my fave gun was the shock blaster when fully upgraded, just charge up fire and spin and literally EVERYTHING dies lol best feeling ever

Missions can be annoying...but are great to level weapons. Unlike the planets the missions don't get reduced enemy quantity after clearing them the 1st time

The Galactic Ranger missions are my favorite part of all of Ratchet and Clank.
Just saw the movie last night! OMMMMFFFFFFGGGGGGG , SO FUCKING AMAZING! The only disappointing thing about the movie was the lack of fans that were in the same room as me . Actually , I don't even think that they were fans since a group of family had their kids there .

Hi, this is the only Ratchet that i did and i feel there might be a big advice missing. Even in normal difficulty, the game gets really hard as close as you reach the end. The last boss first phase is the hardest moment of the game and you need to be prepared for it. The only way to make it fairly doable, unless you are really good at video games, is tu purchase the last and best armor available of the game and trust me it won t come cheap. Here is what you should do : 1) upgrade your weapon at max level one at a time and don t buy any new weapon unless evry weapon you have are at max level 2) Do not buy the green armor (the one you can get before the red cool last one that you need), its a big useless expense once you buy the last armor 3) Once you have the magnet boots and the gadget that points you to every secrets on the map ( if i remember right the rangers give it to you once you do all the missions with them on a planet) go to the sewers and collect all the crystals in order to exchange them for a lot of money. 4) If you did not complete them already, do the extra missions that gives you money to get enough once you see the price of that last armor. 5) Don t waste money on skins for the ship. I feel this is important because back then i couldn t beat the last boss without this armor and i had to start over a new save a couple years later with all this knowledge to beat it. Did you all former players of this game need it too ?
The 'up your arsenal' guns have to be the most underrated and insane in the whole franchise

The orange interface is so freaking aesthetically pleasing.
I LOVE Ratchet and Clank UYA, it's one of the only Ratchet and Clank games from PS2 I got 100% completion on for my PS3, I got every in-game trophy, every skill point, every last Platinum bolt, upgraded all weapons, and got all its PS3 trophies awarding me another Platinum.
I almost got 100% on its PS2 version.
Tbf qwark got kind of redeemed in this game as he was a bad guy but when he showed up at the end it kind of made me smile

Idk why people think this is the best game of the original trilogy. Play just like 2, has the least planets, the first couple of planets has the whole "lets talk about the video we just saw that gives us reasons to go to a new planet" but after the first couple of planets you just get "coordinates added" one planet is basically a single room, a few levels are just the multiplayer map copied into the campaign. Pads out gameplay to do missions in the same place repeatedly. There's not a single grind rail section, that got replaced by the quark comics that font add anything to the rest of the game. There was a level to collect crystals for money but in going commando there were two of those levels. Many levels just don't even look good at all like the movie studio level, in between studios looks like they box. No space ship missions.
But I guess getting that employee discount automatically gets 5/5 stars.

The thing about Dr. Nefarious' voice actor is interesting, but not as weird as Clank's, his voice actor also voiced generation 1 Megatron, in other words, the *original* Megatron.
Anybody else hyped for the new PS4 Ratchet & Clank game and movie this year? I am.

The game was sooo bad, I mean, it was completely fucked up and felt boring compared to the others. But well, after Nexus and All 4 One, it could have been worse
A couple things. First: Finally, somebody else who disliked the flying missions in the second game
Second: at about the 5:00 mark with the cutaway joke it was 2:37 am when I watched it so I'm a little spooked
Third: At about 7:45 the white rockets can still hit you. The red ones are the only ones that target the player, but the white ones can hit the player.

My personal favorite Ratchet & Clank game
For everyone with problems in this game...buy that Naval Mine looking bomb that explodes into smaller Naval Mine looking bombs. It does a crap ton of damage and honestly,i wouldn't have ever gotten through that Assault on Phoenix without it
coming back to this video makes me laugh everytime the Courtney gears song pops up. ratchet and clank's biggest song. "why is this song catchy" and for some reason it still is even after its been more then about 8 years maybe more

3 used to be my favourite but overplaying and the sheer fact of it being straight up easy to beat made it one of the toughest ones for me to get the full way through in the past few years but 2 is perfection. Controls are ironed out weapons are pretty good maybe not as good as 1 and the levels are difficult enough that you have to pay attention in order to get by unlike 3 with the plasma storm or that really annoying rynocerator flash
Has 14 full playthroughs of going commando and 9 playthroughs of up your arsenal, watches these videos like I have no idea what's going on.
Enjoyed the video. I look forward to you reviewing all the Ratchet and Clank games.

0:53 I don't understand what you expected to be so different about the game. That's how the franchise is designed and obviously Insomniac kept it that way. It's like you expected them to make another Ratchet and Clank game only it'll be a completely new concept. Every other R&C game isn't that different aside from R&C 1 which lacked weapon upgrades.
I guess something they did new in this game was give you a central base with that star ship you keep coming back to, as well as those quirky (Quarky?) Captain Quark 2D sidescroller segments.
I agree there's less and less to talk about. From this point they mostly just tweaked the controls, like it was either this game or the game after that they finally just decided, instead of having us hold down strafe 24/7, they'd just add a toggle.
Im pretty sure Dr. Nefarious is also Buffy's second principal in BTVS. That was the one thing that surprised me.

Hey! I've finished the game dozens of times and I NEVER, EVER, rushed it!
I always alternated Lock Strafe and Third Person mode. Some of the shooty bits are really fun in Lock Strafe, but some weapons like the Plasma Whip and Lava Gun work way better in Third Person.

Its strange how I played this game first before Going Commando. It was such a fun game. The feels.
I did too, but only because the going commando disc my parents bought me was scratched and I couldnt get past the arena. So i gave up, played up your arsenal, and then some time later I got a better copy that I could actually finish lol

5:00 it actually is 2:32 in the morning where I am as I watched that part
while its really different, the fourth ratchet and clank just has the combat down pat, SO GOOD.
its like. perfect. i played it then went back to going comando, and just went.... "what is this garbagy garbage that im having to put up with right now?"
like small cooridors, they are just completely gone from dreadzone, and that is because ratchet and clanks camera has a hissey fit everytime you get inside them and my god was that apparent in going command. and the power creep was just so perfect in dreadzone (the weapons, not the enemies). in going commando it was either get the next teir of weapon or upgrade current weapon to progress. vipers are still mostly useless though....
the combat was all that dreadzone had going for it though, even it if was amazing. oh and DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE SHITTY CHECKPOINT IN GOING COMMANDO.
i absent mindedly walked off an edge two feet from the end of the area into instant death and have to do the ENTIRE thing again. not acceptable.

When will you be making Demon's Souls for non-hipsters? Or Hipster's souls as I call it. I need to know how much time I have to finish it, I got it about a week ago and when I got to SL 70 , I talked to Boldwin, highlighted the ok when buying moon grass (not buying it) slowly walked to Thomas bit by bit, with the nexial binding equiped pressed square and then start, talked to Thomas, deposited a boss soul (or any item) and MASHED circle.
Yah, good, did killing Garl and Astraea (or talking to her) make you cry? Nothing else in the souls series has made me cry so much.

On the contrary I think the shotgun at lv5 is way better than the nitro launcher and by the time that becomes useless you'll have the rift inducer which literally just kills non stop basically, also pro tip you can kill the final boss in like 12 shots from the sniper rifle when it's maxed, much faster that way
still playing it in 2020 from pcsx2 , cant wait for rift apart i might actually buy sony 5 just to play ratchet and clank
One of my favourite games of all time. Not entirely sure why I like it more then 2 tbh ^.^; sidenote, I'm so glad I'm not the only one who really don't like Clank.

Also, don't play it on PS3. You might get a glitch where you can't buy weapons anymore. From what I know, it's irreversible and you'll need to start a new game.

Well... this is different. And funny. And curiously awesome. Suuuubbed. I know, it's such a surprise to yell out 'I SUBBED TO YOU', as if you needed the extra exclamation. Well. Tough, I did.
Ok funny story of how I got and found out about this game. While I was over my cousins house my mother suddenly comes over and gives me 1,2 and 3 of Ratchet and Clank and out of all of them I chose to play the 3rd game first because the cover looked much cooler and I loved it.
I reccomend the duck gun, it pretty much blows through the sewer level
