A portion of this report was officially uploaded to RUclips a few years ago, but the full 6 minute clip is only available on CBC's website (see: www.cbc.ca/pla.... I don't quite understand why they would've taken out so much, and in doing so they cut out footage of the unreleased "Walk Away" Paris video. My apologies for the low quality, but I hope it's still of value to diehard Alanis fans.

I can't believe Alanis Morissette INVENTED Canada, AND 1991, AND 1992!

No doubt she created music and the entire world, as well. Truly an icon!

Alanis’ early career was to make her as Canada’s answer to the rising young female pop stars of that period notably Tiffany and Debbie Gibson.
But again, Alanis has succeeded in her career and will continue to do so.

It's quite an odd point of her career, seeing as she's always been one to push back against stereotypes. Even still, all of her music is enjoyable, including her first two.

I must be old, when I think of Alanis, this is what I hear. Brings me back to a simpler time. I remember her on “You can’t do that on television” and also “Homegrown café”

This is crazy! Pop totally didn't suit her for the long haul. Her voice was MADE for what she's known for later. Awesome find!

I'm glad she switched gears when she did. I absolutely love the first two albums (especially Now Is The Time), and I think they produced some of her best vocals, certainly some of the most impressive for a 15-17 year old ("Superman" is probably my favorite vocal performance in the early years). But, yeah, it's clear she went down the right route in the end. She's obviously taken really good care of it too. "Olive Branch" was one of the best performances I've heard in a long time, and I'm really excited to see where she goes on the next album. Glad you enjoyed this, though, means a lot :)

Alanis can sing anything she doesn’t have to be stuck in one genre all the time

@@yourfairyking An Emotion Away had alot of Potential in the US. But it was MCA Canada who thought otherwise. They really treated her like shit. FIRED her in 1993 and dropped her from the Label. Alanis had alot of angst and self discovery while writing and Recording JLP during '94-95.

Wish they would release the original version of, "Walk Away". Her debut album is very good, and would be nice to get a rerelease with the mixes and other versions.

There was a point where I tried contacting MCA(?) about the whereabouts of that version of Walk Away. Unsurprisingly, I didn't receive a response. I'm doubtful that it even exists at this point, but with how amazing it is I'm still holding out hope.

According to Alanis. She has kept everything. Her storage units are packed full of everything she has done. What she plans on doing with it all is anyone's guess. If she is planning on ever doing anything with it at all. And for sure Leslie Howe who produced, co wrote, and did everything else on the ALANIS debut album must have the originals. They are out there somewhere. And I would love to hear all that exists from the recording of her debut album. @@yourfairyking

I think the coolest thing she could do would be to put together a big box set of all of her early material, including unreleased demos and alternate takes of the album tracks, including the Walk Away demo.
She's always been one to surprise, and that would be the most unexpected left field turn yet, seeing as she's been decently vocal about her experiences at that point of her career. Then again, great music is great music, and I think she should be more open about the fact she was a teenage pop star. It honestly makes her story all that more interesting, appealing, and admirable.

@@yourfairyking MCA Canada fired her and Dropped her from the Label in '93. Its very possible that most of the Masters she recorded in 1989-1990 and 1991-92 under her first two LPs are lost and probably under legal wrangling. Walk Away thankfully is included in the Problem Child 2 Soundtrack, it was her American Debut.
Jagged Little Pill came together because of her Debacle with MCA Canada. Its International success in 1996-97 after it BLEW up in Canada during '95 likely came from how much BETTER Warner Bros Canada treated her and pushed her, and how successful Reprise Records was able to distribute it in the States.
