Experiments In Revival (Aborted Project Demo)
Here's a little teaser I created in March of last year for a potential project. One which fell through relatively quickly and that I can't see myself completing any longer. Since it still occasionally pops up in my mind, I figured sharing what I did work on may allow me to step away from the project entirely.
But anyways, I originally had the plan to create a sort of alternate reality version of Lemon Demon's masterpiece album Spirit Phone, utilizing scraps of demos and other assorted bits, with the returning theme of literally a haunted phone line taking over the listener. As it went on, it would grow progressively darker, though the only remnants of this are the notes I scribbled down wh...

Pull Up The Roots (Live 1983) - Talking Heads | Burlington, Vermont
Просмотров 604Год назад
Talking Heads Patrick Gymnasium Burlington, Vermont Speaking In Tongues Tour October 1, 1983 Killer rendition of the Speaking In Tongues cut. They only played the track three times on this tour, this being the second performance, and I thought that I may as well upload the standalone segment. It's the best quality performance of the song (to my ears at least), so why not.

I don't quite understand why they would've taken out so much, and in doing so they cut out footage of the unreleased "Walk Away" Paris video. My apologies for the low ...

A mash-up of one of twenty one pilots' best performances of one of their best songs. Yesterday would've been eight years since this was originally performed at the LC Pavilion in Columbus Ohio (April 26, 2013), but a day late isn't too bad... right? There are many recordings of many other songs from that night, both professional and amateur, but The Pantaloon hasn't been so lucky. I could reall...

Liberian Girl (HIStory Tour Live 1997: Fanmade Edit)
Просмотров 1,1 тыс.4 года назад
Background: On Monday, May 4th I entered a contest held by the MJJ Various Discord server, to take a song Michael Jackson had never performed live, and make it sound as though it came straight out of the late 90s HIStory tour. I chose Liberian Girl, as that’s one of my all-time favorite songs, and I had some good ideas on what I could do with the track. Everything you hear is built from the gro...

There was a point where I tried contacting MCA(?) about the whereabouts of that version of Walk Away. Unsurprisingly, I didn't receive a response. I'm doubtful that it even exists at this point, but with how amazing it is I'm still holding out hope.

According to Alanis. She has kept everything. Her storage units are packed full of everything she has done. What she plans on doing with it all is anyone's guess. If she is planning on ever doing anything with it at all. And for sure Leslie Howe who produced, co wrote, and did everything else on the ALANIS debut album must have the originals. They are out there somewhere. And I would love to hear all that exists from the recording of her debut album. @@yourfairyking

I think the coolest thing she could do would be to put together a big box set of all of her early material, including unreleased demos and alternate takes of the album tracks, including the Walk Away demo. She's always been one to surprise, and that would be the most unexpected left field turn yet, seeing as she's been decently vocal about her experiences at that point of her career. Then again, great music is great music, and I think she should be more open about the fact she was a teenage pop star. It honestly makes her story all that more interesting, appealing, and admirable.

@@yourfairyking MCA Canada fired her and Dropped her from the Label in '93. Its very possible that most of the Masters she recorded in 1989-1990 and 1991-92 under her first two LPs are lost and probably under legal wrangling. Walk Away thankfully is included in the Problem Child 2 Soundtrack, it was her American Debut. Jagged Little Pill came together because of her Debacle with MCA Canada. Its International success in 1996-97 after it BLEW up in Canada during '95 likely came from how much BETTER Warner Bros Canada treated her and pushed her, and how successful Reprise Records was able to distribute it in the States.

I really hope so as well. I read on one of Blank Frank's concert uploads that everyone was probably in the same places they were during Crosseyed and Painless in Stop Making Sense. I'd really be interested in seeing the coordination and choreography between David and Lynn/Edna, particularly during the breakdown. Whether or not we ever see true footage, it's still fun to imagine what it was like. As always, thanks for checking out the video!

Alanis’ early career was to make her as Canada’s answer to the rising young female pop stars of that period notably Tiffany and Debbie Gibson. But again, Alanis has succeeded in her career and will continue to do so.

    • @yourfairyking

It's quite an odd point of her career, seeing as she's always been one to push back against stereotypes. Even still, all of her music is enjoyable, including her first two.

I'm glad she switched gears when she did. I absolutely love the first two albums (especially Now Is The Time), and I think they produced some of her best vocals, certainly some of the most impressive for a 15-17 year old ("Superman" is probably my favorite vocal performance in the early years). But, yeah, it's clear she went down the right route in the end. She's obviously taken really good care of it too. "Olive Branch" was one of the best performances I've heard in a long time, and I'm really excited to see where she goes on the next album. Glad you enjoyed this, though, means a lot :)
