Dude thank you for being so thorough when explaining how to fast properly and for keeping the information free. Ive lost 30 pounds since i started using your methods. Thank you so much.
I like that fact that he highlights the importance of weight training when fasting regularly. I notice a difference in hormones and body composition with just 1 very short weight training session, unfortunately I don't do it weekly or regularly but I will start soon. Fasting is great and for someone like me as it helps so much because of the lack of inflammation due to my high blood glucose after certain carbs and meals (pre-diabetic). Thomas is a literal life saver and if anyone deserves their success, its certainly people like him who have the knowledge, will & experience to help others. Thank you Thomas! Good luck to everyone in their health & fitness journeys.
I'm 54 and have been doing 18 hour fasts for 40 days straight now. I prefer to fast from 2pm till 8am. It's definitely working for me. I love the empty feeing I now have in the evenings and do lots of walking plus pushups as well. I lost it from my waist in only 4 weeks. The added bonus of spending less time preparing, cooking, eating food and tidying up I also love. It's a win win as far as I can see. Good luck out there. 😎
I have been at this for a year now. I have had coffee with cream every morning and eat nothing until 4 or 5pm. I have lost 45 lbs and do not gain. I would like to lose about 10 more but I am okay here. I am slim again.
I’ve been watching you thru my quest for better health. I turn 60 on 5/28 and I’m down 32 pounds but I feel like I’ve lost more. I just wanted to say thank you and also say how great you look! Love the science and your style. #healthyketo
Really needed to hear your wisdom after doing IF for nearly two years and experiencing weight gain the past few months. Guilty of thinking IF is a get out of jail free card. After a 24 hour fast on a Friday I fell into the habit of breaking it with a “treat” night. Pizza and ice cream type of vibe. 🤦♀️ What a moron. You’ve got me back on track. Thanks so much. 🙏🏽
IF changed my life. I now do full OMAD (one meal every 24 hours) on a keto diet. Sky rocketed my weightloss, helped my hit my fitness goals, and gives me so much energy throughout my day!
Kayla Quigley hey girl do you eat all your calories in one meal? I’ve just started keto OMAD and I’ve just jumped in first week with full fat foods forcing myself to eat 1300calories in 1 hour... not sure I’m doing it right lol
@@Indigoheartgreenleaf I eat 1100-1200 calories in 1 meal. Sometimes I will give myself a 2 hour window to get my meal done. Today's meal is a large Ceaser salad (with grill chicken cooked in olive oil, 4 slices of bacon, and Ceaser salad) that alone is 900 calories. An hour later I will have some veggies and dip
@@lililijo I make keto cheesecake :). Look up recipes on RUclips there are some amazing and quick videos! I'd say once a month (during that time as a woman) is the only time I crave sweets. So I'll make a cheesecake LOL. I have had yoghurt and berries a few times. It's not a staple for me, but delicious.
I started the "16:8 fasting" four days ago. I'm not being careful about what I eat within the 8h window: I'm just eating normally and we'll see how it goes. The 16h fasting is strangely easy. I expected to feel painfully hungry... but I feel nothing. And I'm not over eating during the 8h window.

Hi! I am going to have knee surgery at the end of July and my dr. wants me to lose 20 pounds before the surgery. I have been watching your videos and have learned so much and been really inspired! A big thank you for the help. I am 60, overweight by about 70 pounds and have blood sugar issues, high blood pressure and cholesterol. In just 3 weeks, my blood sugar has dropped and my blood pressure is 135/82. I am so excited to be on this wellness journey. Now, it's not just for my knee now. I want to continue afterward as well.

Thanks for clarifying about bulletproof coffee. It never sounded right when people said it wouldn't break your fast. That many calories in one sitting definitely would 👌🏽
@@tjgiii1002 Technically black coffee does break your fast because it activates the liver. It won't kick you out of ketosis, but it does trigger digestive processes. Not sure why you think bulletproof coffee is garbage; it's just coffee with butter instead of cream. How is that garbage? I drink it every morning when I'm not fasting and it gets me through the day so I don't feel ravenous and want to cheat with snacks. Not garbage at all.
Just want to say thank you for all your videos...you have help me out so much started at 262 couldn't break 250 until I started watching your videos a week later after fasting I was at 239 and this is my biggest fear to actually gain weight . Once gain thank you am 44 year type 2 diabetic.
I started intermittent fasting just to help me get healthy. What I noticed more than anything else after not eating sugar & processed foods on daily basis were major mood swings & just feeling uncomfortable & sickly for about 2 weeks or more. The uncomfortableness only lasted about a week but the irritability or mood swings are tapering off slowly. Now when go to stand up there's no pain in my joints or knees & I seem to have a little more energy & most of all I feel better about my future & life in general....
So the only thing I was lacking was weight lifting. I would do 1.5 - 2 hours of cardio and get slow results. I'm gonna work on eating more whole foods and following a strength training plan cuz I know I'm weak. Great video by the way. Very informative.
A day or a week? I've heard that 20 min cardio a day is enough, and then 2-3 times a week you do HIIT and some heavy lifting followed by sauna. Good luck!
You explain everything so clear and good. Great work! Could i ask you for a video about vegan intermittent fasting? Or maybe some examples of what carb or fat meal i can eat to break a fast after 16hours. I officially don’t eat meat as protein. Thanks so much x
Justin Johnson, to be honest it doesn’t have to be this complicated. Just eat good foods and watch the results. If you’re gaining weight, maybe cut some things down or switch it up. We’re not NFL players here
I think u don’t have to do ALL the rules and things he explained,i’m pretty sure it works different for each of us , he’s trying to explain what is best for us . And yeah it’s complicated but u don’t have to do all of that ,just try what’s the best for you goodluck✨✨
If you're fasting 3 times a week, than after fasting just don't have carbs in your first meal. You can still have carbs with fat in the week, just not after fasting and it will help. This is how I took his video haha but he probably doesn't eat any carbs!
I've been watching you and Dr. Berg for years. I think I've lowered my calorie amount per day due to intermittent fasting. The numbers add up to about 1400 or maybe 1500 a day. I'm 250lbs and not hungry at all. I've been very strict with Keto for over 4 years now. I came from 305lbs down to present weight. I'm trying to lean out and get to the next step being over 50 yrs. old. In the morning I spin Mon, Tues, Thur, and Fri, hitting each muscle group on those days with weights after work. Wed is off. Saturday is HITT and Sunday a long walk with the wife. How do I drive my metabolism back up to gain or maintain my muscle and lean out?
Absolutely great resources and tips. I have found this whole diet incredibly interesting and informative. I am currently on my day 1 fast. I have tried numerous other diets and just have not been able to make them work. Eventually it comes down to deciding if I am worth the effort. If my friends, family, and loved ones are worth the effort. Because it isn't just about wanting to lose weight. It is also about a healthier tomorrow. To that end, I now need to ask for some advice. I have not done any weight lifting since high school and that has been a long time ago. Where should I start? I know I could go to a gym. But what can I do at home? Thanks in advance!

Hopefully this doesn’t get lost in the comments. I’ve heard what you said before, not to combine carbs with fats. I have confusion about what I can eat with carbs. For instance, should I eat a handful of power greens (spinach, kale, red chard), broccoli, and 4 eggs? Does it matter what kind of carbs/fats you combine? Thanks for all your videos and info!
I would appreciate the answer to this line of questioning as well. Would a fat/protein meal be strictly avocados, oils, nuts and meat as an example? And then a Carb/protein meal would be rice, chicken, and vegetables? Or can vegetable type carbs be included in the Fat/protein meal as well?
For anyone reading this as a cool tip. I just read a study where they investigated intermittent fasting with a low calorie ketogenic diet (500-800calories per day) and the participants (obese) lost 20+kg of fat in 4 months. They found their basal metabolic was NOT statistically significantly effected in any kind of negative way while following this protocol.
Wow all I can say is THANK YOU so much for all the crucial info and how concisely you present it! May be like thousands, I watch and rarely comment but know that thousands if not millions are appreciative of your content and may not take the time to write you a thank you note. Thanks again, your content is life changing! God bless!
Look at those net carbs very closely, you could eat about a whole kilogram of keto friendly veggies before hitting 20 net carbs but only 75 grams of rice. And if you surpass 20 carbs while eating broccoli it's not a bad thing per se, Dr Berg recommends to don't bother with veggie carbs at all.
i started intermittent fasting yesterday and I was real excited. Now this video has terrified me that i will do something wrong and explode in weight gain. shit!
Thank you so much for your videos, just started doing OMAD & I was dropping then I had a “cheat” day and gained 5 lbs back . Consumed more calories those 2 days. I was stumped cause it was still the one meal & a bit discouraged but thanks to this video I got the answers I needed . THANK YOU !!!!
I'm really new at this so please answer this quick question. He said don't combine carbs with fat when stopping fast, but he said a small amount of good fats, like almonds, is OK. I break my fast with breakfast which is almost always oats and I always eat it with one table. Spoon of peanut butter. Should I stop eating peanut butter, or is this quantity OK to consume?
Thanks so much for the info, Thomas! Your videos have been crazy helpful for me. Already down 40 lbs :) You mention not fasting everyday.. is there an effective # of days a week to fast that you've seen? Or should I just experiment?
I am too. The more I watch, I'm running across "do this, but don't do that" "eat this, but don't eat that" "if you do this and eat that, but too much, then this will happen..." Feels like there's a very narrow successful window for Keto and IF, and if you deter just a pinch then you will run everything or gain weight. It seems so complicated, time consuming and stressful... It doesn't seem practical for a regular person with family and life.
I wish we were not told to eat many meals a day of low fat high carb diet because its good for your heart and ramps up metabolism. When in fact, the opposite is true.
I’ve been diabetic for years and this concept of insulin blocking fat loss is mind blowing, especially the high insulin spike after a fast. I’ve been struggling with low carb and keto for years with no success, until I understood this and I think it was your videos that made that point the strongest. Thank you.
Good afternoon Thomas, thank you for all the information. I recently started following your videos and find them easy to understand and the concepts are logical and easy to implement. My question for you is.... does adding cinnamon about an hour prior to breaking a fast help stop or reduce the insulin response? I am new to IF and I started keto eating in July of 2019 and am looking to bettering my results. Thank you!
Thanks bro.. i am indebted to you for bringing back my life.. because of implementing your tips in life i trimmed my weight from 100kg to 80 kg in last 3 months.... love you...
i love your videos- my question is when i break my fast can i have salad with a piece of chicken? it’s a grilled thigh and a romaine salad with olive oil
Hey Tom! Thanks for the vid! (How about giving us an update on the Microbiome and the beneficial bacterial supplements we should be taking?) Thanks again!
Hi, my question is: can I change the time of fasting every other day? my work schedule is not the same every day, which means my lunch breaks are not always at the same time. my eating window can be 12..-20.00 one day and 11.00- 19.00 the other. Is that ok?
Based on what I've seen from his videos what matters most is your non feeding window times. There's different benefits for 8, 12, 16, 24 hours of not eating. So basically yes if you fast after noon one day and fast after 3pm the next that should be fine. As long as your getting in that 12-16 hours of fasting, it doesn't matter what time of day it is or how long your previous window was. And he also says you should learn to listen to your body. Don't eat just because its "lunch time" or because you're bored. But also drink water and eat if you're truly hungry.
First 2 days - 1 meal 1 days Third days - 1 meal 1 day but green vege only . Forth and fifth days - no food at all..only water And I don’t know why I feel no hungry now.. My headache is gone and I feel so relax
Another great video and I love all the science you use to back up everything you share. 2 questions (if you don't mind). How long from when we break our fast, say with a fat bomb, can we consume the carbs ? For example, I eat a big keto leafy green salad as my main meal and I just started eating a fat bomb to break my fast. When can I dive into the salad ? (10 mins later, 15 mins later, etc). Also, does the fat in my dressing and the carbs in my (low carb) leafy green salad count as combining carbs and fats? (FYI- I also have no gallbladder, just watched that video, so I'll break my salad down into two meals now). Great stuff ! This is my salad base: Homemade mayo based dressing using olive oil 5-6 cups leafy greens (spinach, endive, swiss chard mix) 2 TBSP Parsley 1 TBSP Nutritional Yeast 1 TSP Chia Seeds 1 TBSP Pumpkin Seeds 1 TBSP Sunflower Seeds 1 TBSP Sesame Seeds 1 TBSP Watermelon Seeds 1 TSP Flax seeds 1/4 Cup Pecans 1 TBSP sprouted bean sprouts 8 Olives 1/2 Cup homemade fermented red cabbage sauerkraut My protein for the day, either boiled eggs, chicken breast, etc.
Bernie Lake-David i personally wait 2 hours before having carbs. I eat fish or meat and eggs, then later have 115g of 2% yogurt with protein powder, chia, and cacao nibs. If you have the salad with fatty dressing afterwards, you are not breaking your fast with it, so your body will not respond with that insulin surge that Thomas describes. I also mix carbs and fats afterward in terms of veggies with butter. Two hours is something I came up with for me. It took trial and error. If I ate it sooner, I felt hungry soon after, and sleepy, which made me think my insulin was spiking. After 2 hours I just feel energised and strong from that second meal. You can test it out for yourself, maybe starting at the half hour. Best of health to you!
Doooood! This makes so much sense! Thank you. I've been IF for almost 3 weeks (keto on and off for too long to mention) and couldn't make sense of why I lost 12lbs (water) the first 2 weeks and then gained a lb and feel bloated. I'm clean keto, but I know I'm not eating enough! Under 900 calories a day. Not on purpose, just not hungry. I did an extended 43 hour fast and nothing happened. So I quickly increased my calories. I alternate between 18:6 and 20:4, but 20:4 seems to be my sweet spot. I've also been walking 4 miles every morning. So the stall wasn't making sense. I had no idea to separate my carbs and fats!!! Keto combines them. Great information!!!

Fasting for 8 weeks now. omad. Lost almost 9 kilos..started working out 3 days ago..thank god i found this channel..
the longest i fasted was 16hr's. and im doing the keto.. i really enjoy your video's.
again THANK YOU for this video. Many mistakes are made especially on what to do when breaking a fast
And yet plenty of people lose weight doing OMAD where they eat fats and carbs together.
@Frank Lin - Exactly. So do I. Reason why I’m the 69th disliker. 😉
Not mixing carbs and fats its easier said than done.
Yeah almost can't eat normal meals with normal people with that rule 😅
Steak and veggies:)

Protein powder and rice!
I’ve found that it’s heard to not eat to much protein
I'm 54 and have been doing 18 hour fasts for 40 days straight now. I prefer to fast from 2pm till 8am. It's definitely working for me. I love the empty feeing I now have in the evenings and do lots of walking plus pushups as well. I lost it from my waist in only 4 weeks. The added bonus of spending less time preparing, cooking, eating food and tidying up I also love. It's a win win as far as I can see. Good luck out there. 😎
WEALTH OF KNOWLEDGE...
great job!
Thank you sir.
I have been at this for a year now. I have had coffee with cream every morning and eat nothing until 4 or 5pm. I have lost 45 lbs and do not gain. I would like to lose about 10 more but I am okay here. I am slim again.
water2wine1 that’s not fasting
You broke the fast with the cream already
I really enjoyed my fasting experience and intermittent fast/feed. It helped me lose my last stubborn 15 lbs pregnancy weight.
So far so good, 3 weeks of intermittent fasting, 20-4. I'm over the initial hunger cravings.
Thank you, you made me realise I need to cut down on all the unhealthy fats 🤣 I just jumped straight into all the cream cheese and cheese recipes lol
Kayla do you ever have desserts, such as Greek yogurt and berries or making keto puddings with almond flour or coconut flour?
I started the 16:8 window as well. Didn’t go great during the Superbowl but I’m right back on it. Feels great to not feel lethargic after a meal.

„You can be flexibel but you need to be disciplined“. So true
If breaking a fast with fat and protein, how long should you wait before eating carbs?
We have the same question. Hope we get an answer as I am confused.
I’ve lost 40 lbs in a year, but can’t lose anymore even though I’m in Ketosis daily! I test my blood daily. I haven’t lost in over 3 months. I do 18/6 fasting or more daily. I’m going to try his tips to see if I can get the scale to budge. Please God let him be right. 🤞🏼🙏🏼

Lost 100 lbs
can I ask what hours of the day you fast? Also, how many calories do you eat in a day? I also have a good amount of weight to lose
U did this for how many days?
Don't eat sugar. Really bad for your body.
Soooo I can eat advocado toast
Oh shit that's bad for you. Oatmeal and sugars are not keto
Life saver. Thank you for all the backed up information you put into all your videos.
You're welcome!
Thanks for clarifying about bulletproof coffee. It never sounded right when people said it wouldn't break your fast. That many calories in one sitting definitely would 👌🏽
He said it would if you're not on keto
It doesn't spike insulin, so, yes it breaks fast technically, but effectively no.
Good luck!
Eliminate Sugar and yall see miraculous results.
You explain everything so clear and good. Great work! Could i ask you for a video about vegan intermittent fasting? Or maybe some examples of what carb or fat meal i can eat to break a fast after 16hours. I officially don’t eat meat as protein. Thanks so much x
Ampay Medina so many people need this
I need this too
Vegan needs to eat coconut’s skin to get enough daily calories.
This is getting so complicated. There’s so many restrictions. IF was supposed to make losing weight easier but it’s not the case. It’s so frustrating!
Justin Johnson, to be honest it doesn’t have to be this complicated. Just eat good foods and watch the results. If you’re gaining weight, maybe cut some things down or switch it up. We’re not NFL players here
It's not always easy, but it's very rewarding!
In life if you do what’s easy, life will be difficult. If you do what’s difficult, life will be easy
Get blood work done to measure testosterone levels. If your T is low, that needs to be fixed first.
Appreciate the wisdom, let it be paid back to you in full.
I really needed this info. Your videos keep getting better and more helpful. Thanks for sharing!

Is a 4 month cycle the safest?
How long of a daily fast were they on
Wow all I can say is THANK YOU so much for all the crucial info and how concisely you present it! May be like thousands, I watch and rarely comment but know that thousands if not millions are appreciative of your content and may not take the time to write you a thank you note. Thanks again, your content is life changing! God bless!
Thomas, I can't thank you enough for your videos.
I'd love some meal examples along with this info...love vegies, but they DO have net carbs.
People should stop worrying about carbs in veggies. Just avoid the big nono's like potatoes, grains, ... and eat what you want if it comes to veggies.
@@belaistbela eat your veggies at your second meal and keep it simple with lean protein when breaking your fast.

Great info! You really enlightened me and drastically changed how I viewed IF. Thank you so much.

Keto and intermittent fasting is the best combination in my opinion

@@eduardorodriguez4899 because this keto thing is already confusing and now it sounds even more complicated
Queen of the Grandenites can I help you clarify anything hon?😊
Excellent info. I wish I knew this 2 years ago! lol Glad I learned it now. Thank you!
I wish we were not told to eat many meals a day of low fat high carb diet because its good for your heart and ramps up metabolism. When in fact, the opposite is true.
Can u cover how to take a break from fasting and maintain weight
I’ve been diabetic for years and this concept of insulin blocking fat loss is mind blowing, especially the high insulin spike after a fast. I’ve been struggling with low carb and keto for years with no success, until I understood this and I think it was your videos that made that point the strongest. Thank you.
You were able to lose weight once you stopped consuming carbs with fat?
Good afternoon Thomas, thank you for all the information. I recently started following your videos and find them easy to understand and the concepts are logical and easy to implement.
My question for you is.... does adding cinnamon about an hour prior to breaking a fast help stop or reduce the insulin response? I am new to IF and I started keto eating in July of 2019 and am looking to bettering my results.

What about the Magnesium that was going to be covered later?
Currently on my 16 dat fasting! Thank you your videos are so helpful!!
RIP
Wow wow wow I love this guy all day everyday.
Thank you ❤️ for all these informations.

This is my salad base:
Homemade mayo based dressing using olive oil
5-6 cups leafy greens (spinach, endive, swiss chard mix)
2 TBSP Parsley
1 TBSP Nutritional Yeast
1 TSP Chia Seeds
1 TBSP Pumpkin Seeds
1 TBSP Sunflower Seeds
1 TBSP Sesame Seeds
1 TBSP Watermelon Seeds
1 TSP Flax seeds
1/4 Cup Pecans
1 TBSP sprouted bean sprouts
8 Olives
1/2 Cup homemade fermented red cabbage sauerkraut
My protein for the day, either boiled eggs, chicken breast, etc.
