Thomas, I went to my doctor yesterday for a checkup. He was practically doing cartwheels! One year ago I was 266, by October was 276. He told me to lose 15 lbs, so I lost 100. Did a lab, all my numbers are perfect, and zero prescriptions now. YOU ROCK.

Black coffee. After fast: bone broth. Fast length: 16 hour fast... 8 hour meal time after. WORKOUT IN THE MIDDLE OF YOUR FAST. No sweetners in coffee or tea. Dont mix FATS and CARBS because it will open up your cells and store fats in carbs in your cells. Start with 16 hours and then move to 18-20. Stop your eating at 10 pm then start eating at 2 PM. Caffeine helps boost fat loss and helps autophagy. Hope this helps anyone who doesnt have the patience to watch the whole video. Dont consume pre workouts during a fast. Sorry that the order is out of whack but I was just trying to get all the information down.

Funny thing is that we Indians always had this in our religion but never realized the value untill now.
We have dry fast 2wice a year one in March n one in October (although has a religious story behind it). Religious fasting of no solid food on Mondays and Thursdays. Also Jainism strictly follows fasting after dinner until next morning 8am. So 12 to 14 hrs fasting everyday with 2 solid food fasting in a week and 2 dry fasting a year. Also most of Indians are vegetarians. Now get the entire logic behind this after watching this vedio...

@Joseph Cheung idk what drives your thaught right now. Watch the video. Ketosis, autophagy, BDNF production begin after around 24 hours. Call it not eating if you want. You can also not eat for 15 minutes. That won't give you the benefits, despite calling it not eating. I might miss the logic on this one.

    • @neinbruderja7519
      @neinbruderja7519 4 года назад

@Joseph Cheung I mean you could also break your fast with small bits of food every few hours, that wonuldnt make such a caloric difference, yet technically break the fast regarding the benefits mentioned. Would be called starving, not fasting and I guess it would feel horrible.

2 Ways to think about a "DIET"
    1. Eat what you want, but not when you want.
    2. Eat when you want, but not what you want.
I stared my new lifestyle of Intermittent Fasting about 3 months ago. Ive always been athletic, but I had put on some weight after college. I weighted 175 in college as a Div1 Athlete. I got up to 223 as an adult 10 years later. I should be at 185 for my height and age. From 223 to now (3months) I am down to 191, 32 solid pounds. I mean solid as in permanent hard core fat loss. I look lean again and can still get even more lean. I am looking forward to that part!! lol
The crazy part about this lifestyle is that you adjust to it so well, that you actually feel full all the time, with plenty of energy, focus, and attention. Its crazy! You actually want to start breaking your fast with the healthy food instead of the junk i used to crave everyday. I even have to work out on my fast some times because of work and it feels exactly the same as when I work out while feeding. To be honest its not the best thing to do in the long term. The more fat you burn in your fasting state the less fat you burn while feeding. And you want to burn more while your feeding, right! check out what JIM STOPPANI says about fasted workouts. And why he doesn't recommend them! What Thomas is saying is absolutely on point by the way, however there has been some new additional research came out, its fascinating (do yourself a favor and look into it if you want to know the new science behind fasting workouts).
My basic understanding is that the more lean you are, the better the fasting workout is. If you have a high BPI, then its not the best thing for you.
I also want to point out how true it is that once your mind goes into the "survival state" it is almost magical. I am super focused, on point, my memory is astonishing, massive energy, its surreal..
I highly recommend this to anyone that you truly care about, including yourself!
In this culture we have ritualized our habits and routines. Especially with the way we all were brought up to believe, feed, sleep.
Break the eating ritual. Start a new and improved (with science and education) eating ritual. Intermittent Fasting.

    16-8 windows
Eat a lot fiber before fasting
Do not eat carbs with fat to break the fast (insulin opens cells and let fat in -> not good)
    Drink black coffee or tea
Workout during the fasting -> burn more fat especially in muscles
The longer you fast, the sharper your brain is.
Fasting makes us become more focused also.
Woman bodies send more hunger signals than men’s
Intermittent fasting helps building more muscles compared to normal eating windows.
If the supplements have carb or calories, they break the fast.

I go to sleep by 18:00 every night, so I am awake, ready to workout at 0400 or 0500, before I have time to find excuses to not workout. By 0700 each day I have worked out & showered!🙂

    Keep it easy & simple.
-Don’t eat anything in 16 hours (includes sleeping time) and eat some good stuff in 8 hours.
-during the “not eating hours” drink black coffee / tea / water ONLY without adding any SUGAR or CREAM at all. No diet coke, diet soda, or whatever else except those three liquid.
Well, people always give excuses that it’s okay to add just a little. But if that’s the plan, don’t waste your time in the fasting plan.
That’s about it, stick to the plan and never give up to see results. Trust me, it works 100%. Thomas explained it in a more detailed way. But my summarisation is the fundamentals.

This is great info. I've been doing the IF for a week now, can't wait to see results after 4 weeks. I'm a Muslim btw and we do dry fast during Ramadhan for 30 days every year between 12-16 hrs (basically from sunrise to sunset, which means the hours depend on where you live). I can tell you by the 7th day my body feels lighter and I feel like I have more energy and I don't crave for sugar or junk as I used to. I can lose up to 5kg during the month or even more if I control my calorie intake. I would suggest for those who has never done dry fast to try, but perhaps do it once every 2 days for practice. It'll get easier once you get the hang of it. Good luck!
UPDATE: Since my last comment - I have lost about 3 kgs in 7 days. I also eat not more than 1200 calories per day!
UPDATE 2: It's been 2 weeks since I did the IF. I've lost 5kgs :) I'm now 51kg. Will only stop when I'm 49kg. Oh btw, if you think this is too skinny, I'm actually just 155cm of height, so that targeted weight is perfect for me. I also run 3times a week and do some exercises just to keep my body toned.

I lost a load of weight over the last 18 months but, once I'd reached my 'target' weight (BMI, yada yada, yada) there was very little info out there about how to maintain it, or how to address my fat/lean ratio (skinny is not my desired look!). Intermittent fasting is a game-changer. On day two of 18/6 fasting - accepting that 'hungry' is probably the natural default human state and therefore nothing to be frightened of but, instead, embraced. Your video has helped to put a lot of puzzle pieces into place. So looking forward to seeing the results. Thank you.

I'm just 50 lbs from my goal weight after years of playing around with diet and exercise. Some co-workers have suggested intermittent fasting, hence my research. I really appreciate how you broke down every aspect because I am new to the idea. Fasting is a concept that promotes desperate thoughts in my head as a result of lifelong bad habits and teachings so gasping what it's all about before barreling off into the deep end without a clue is a substantial handicap to get closer to my goal weight. Also, thank you for pointing out the biological differences of gender. I am not a fist-shaking feminist, but I can attest that in the years of my reading, watching and listening of fitness material, many people tend to omit that a female body's natural responses are just different from a man's (and vice versa). You touched on the subject briefly and moved on which is how it should be handled. Bravo.

Never eat until after 1pm and usually have 1-2 meals a day max. Ive maintained my strength and body weight at 185. I dont eat alot of protein. Very easy to maintain longevity with fasting as it boosts HGH levels. Any time i want to train for a race or have a goal to lift more its easily met in 2-3weeks. Wow! This explanation of fasting was both detailed and at the same time simplified for those just getting started. When people ask about my 'unusual' keto+IF lifestyle, I'll refer them to this video. Thank you Thomas!

Started fasting 3 days ago. So far so good. Kinda hard at first but water definitely helps the hunger cravings. Weight loss is my goal and to get back to my old weight from 10 years ago lol.

I have been researching this topic for over 2 years now and I have even attempted it unsuccessfully. Since my discovery of IF this video is by far the most concise and easily understood video on RUclips. This video has given me the motivation and confidence to try this thing one more time. Thank you Thomas❤ wish me luck🤞

Good luck!! I'm on week 5 and still no fat loss. No budge. Went into it being relatively healthy and working out for years and trying to watch what I eat but weight gain from getting older and having had an injury brought me to IF. Not convinced it is really all that healthy to do. The science makes sense but not sure it is what is best for our bodies. At any rate, going to give it a little more time. I wish you well on your journey.

I’ve just SUBSCRIBED to your channel. You are a GODSEND because there were a few questions I needed answering and you covered everything and more. You made it so easy to remember and understand compared to other channel’s videos where they confused and frustrated me. I will be doing the 16-8 fasting and following all your advice plus watching your videos that cover intermittent fasting and health. If all our teachers/lecturers were like you in school, college and university, I can guarantee you that nobody would FAIL. Thank you for everything you are doing to help us become more healthier and live longer. I’ve shared your video and we all agree that you are fit, healthy and gorgeous which is a great motivation for males and females looking to change or improve their lifestyle 💯👌👊

I have a bet with my friend at the gym that started yesterday, we have 3 months to get in the best shape possible, winner gets 20 quid. This should help alot since I'm new to most of this, wish me luck.

I started! I’ve lost 7 lbs in 2 weeks I think that’s pretty good because I’ve tried all kinds of diets and haven’t been able to lose more than a pound.
