Thank you for this it has saved me a ton of money from making it possible to take care of at home!!! Husband bought an 08 xc90 in July of this year and I haven't stopped working on it. Your video is the only one that makes any sense. Thanks, Shelley
I did my 08 xc90 with out having to take anything off aside from the actual thermostat. There is plenty of room to get in there with a 1/4 driver and small extension
I found this video a couple days ago and then couldn't find it again (i spent at least an hour looking). I finally came across it on accident again and I am SO HAPPY! This is the best video out there, very clear camera angles; comprehensive explanations; smooth process, nothing unnecessary. Thank you very very much
Great video. I may be doing this soon, but wondered if a bad thermostat or coolant temp sensor will always throw a code? I'm not getting codes, but I've tried a few fan control modules and my fan is still not running when it should. My next step is entire new fan assembly (fan with controller), but if that doesn't resolve the overheating, I believe the thermostat or temp sensor may be bad. '11 XC60 T-6 with 145K miles on it, new to me so I don't know full history.
I ❤️ the SI6 engine Also, you don’t need to change the heater controls in that vehicle. They don’t have a heater control valve. Heat is controlled by damper doors in the HVAC box. The heater core is always at full flow.
Nam Pham that awesome glad the reviews helped. I used to have snap on electric tools and I’m so thankful that I switched over to Milwaukee. How do you like them so far?
How to Automotive I got the 1/2 mid torque, 3/8 stubby and 3/8 fuel rachet. I owned the first gen of the 1/2 high torque too which I used for a while. My collection pretty much cover all my needs haha.. The high torque zipped out the infamous Honda crank pulley bolt like it was nothing! Love your videos! You put them to the test and actually let us know which application would work and wouldn’t!
I have this same model, but I found that my expansion tank has orange coolant in it. I would like to flush this out. Would my engine have any negative effects from the orange coolant and would it be a bad idea to switch back to the OEM stuff?
bed and breakfast fan I would definitely flush it out. Most likely your car be fine. The different courts have different lubricating factors. So with the wrong coolant you could wear out something like a water pump.
Why was the belly pan removed? Why was the hose taken off the throttle body removed from underneath the car. Asking for a friend looks like someone in the comment section got it done without?
links for parts and tools are in the description

Glad you found the video. Thank you for watching!
That's why you should save all your liked videos for future reference.
Very nice pro explanation. Hope you do more on the 1st gen xc60s.
Wow thanks for the tip! I have been removing the intake manifold… never knew I could sneak in the side 😎
Appreciate you taking out the intake manifold for tutorial. It can be done without taking it apart.
100% perfect in every sense of my summary!!!
excellent video. thank you for the very informative video and the torque specs.
I wish engineers were still like the old days. Very easy to work on vehicles.
Thanks for the video. I'm curious what symptoms or issues led to the replacement of this part?
Another good step by step!
Excellent video, thank you.
very educative. thank you. awesome details. Regards, .
very educative. more videos on XC-60 please. regards
You don’t have to take the intake manifold off! So many extra steps that are not needed.
Great explanation on a car with little support for repairs. Thank you, this is incredibly helpful
Great description Thanks!
I replace my thermostat my self on my 2010 XC 60 . Great video . Thank U so much !
Glad to help. Thank you for watching!

Do you have a video showing the thermostat replacement for a 2017 Volvo XC60 T6 4 cylinder with supercharger and turbo?
I ❤️ the SI6 engine

Very helpful. Thank you. Would like to see video on belt and tensioner replacement on the Volvo 3.0 turbo. Can't find anything on that
William Springle from my understanding it’s a chain. My Volvo manual doesn’t even show a schedule maintenance to replace it (11’ xc60 T6 3.0 turbo)
Love the detailed video! I see you repping a few Milwaukee tools there! Love it!
Can’t say enough good things about Milwaukee Tools. I put them to use every day in the shop. Thank you for watching!
How to Automotive thanks for your videos too! I bought all of my milwaukee impact wrench and ratchets due to your “in action” reviews!
Nam Pham that awesome glad the reviews helped. I used to have snap on electric tools and I’m so thankful that I switched over to Milwaukee. How do you like them so far?

Nam Pham The hardest part for me making review videos is talking about all the specs but I love sharing what they can do and how they can be used
Def subscribing.
How much coolant should I buy in advance? Just a gallon to top off? Its freshly flushed still has new coolant in it
Please I want to bay pieces thermostat and fuel flap door
is it same ptocedure for volvo 80 thermostat too?
Could you please do a radiator replacement and bleeding the system for this engine. I’ve got a 2011 Volvo S60 T6 AWD Polestar Engineered.
Only if one comes in the shop with that need.
Same process on the s60 t6?
Thanks

i don't see the part number for the intake housing orings. jeff. 24030200
Is 24030200 the right part number for Volvo o-rings ?
Why was the belly pan removed? Why was the hose taken off the throttle body removed from underneath the car. Asking for a friend looks like someone in the comment section got it done without?
if you dont mind making a mess under the car, you could totally do it without taking off the belly pan, he took it out to catch the coolant
Why is the throttle body connection removed?
Tich Consulting Services you have to disconnect the throttlebody to pull the intake out. It’s easier to leave it bolted up then to unbolt it.
Rings link jeff???? Please
I’m not sure what you’re asking?
Finally first!
New Level Auto lol thank you for being first.👍🏻
@@HowtoAutomotive that was perfectly done. Didn't miss a step
New Level Auto thank you and thank you for watching!
Jejeje 🤣🤣

good thing you didn't use a doorman that would bin a pain doing it twice
scuba422123 definitely not a fan of doorman parts
Second
1970chevelle396 thank you Ken for watching!
Pain in the ass. I'd rather get it done by a mechanic...
I agree it is a pain. Glad the video help you come to the right decision for you. Thank you for watching!
