  • If you want to learn how to improve golf ball striking and stop hanging back, you need to first understand what is causing poor golf ball contact in the first place. In this golf lesson, Todd Kolb shows us one of his favorite golf ball striking drills to help you stop hanging back in your golf swing, and get better contact on the course!

Hey Todd & team -- I'm 55 and split time between Wolfeboro NH and Lexington MA. Your videos and book have helped a TON (I took my 9-hole score from 60 (worst) to 43 (best) this year by simply watching your videos daily and practicing what you teach. The consistency improvement has been nothing short of incredible.
One question I have that I haven't been able to find answered in any of your videos is about your feet -- I noticed from your videos that you keep your front foot almost entirely on the ground throughout your swing whereas I previously would move up onto my front toe a bit during my backswing. Once I stopped doing that (and instead kept my front foot planted on the ground as I made my backswing), I achieved much more consistent results.
Is that something you teach? Do you have any thoughts on that topic?

I love your lessons and tips! I'm actually playing better golf because of them! Sometimes though, I get confused as to whether the tip pertains to hitting irons or drivers or both. Could you make it more clear during your lessons? Thank you!!

Germantown, MD. (DC suburb) Your tips have really help me strike the ball better. Yesterday I practice your tip on hitting the driver better by lifting my left arm and leaning right (right handed player) and I hit the ball much better and further than I have since I got back into the game after a 15 year layoff. I’ll definitely incorporate this drill into my practice, since all your tips have helped.
If I lived in your area I would definitely take your clinics.

@@USGOLFTVshow I ordered your book this morning and having it delivered to our house in OBX, which I’ll be there Thursday. My 33 year old son is meeting us there and he just took up the game. He’s only played a couple times, but we go to the range anytime we’re together. Is this good book for a beginner? He lives in the Raleigh/ Durham, NC area, do you have any recommendations for public golf courses with instructors down there? If not no worries.

Hi Todd - I am one of your experienced golfers. I took up golf after retirement and have been playing for about 10 years. I was just wondering if you could do a video or comment about the differences between pitch and chip shots. Is it just about the distance or what? Thanks in advance.

I just bought your book. Haven't finished it yet, but it's well done. My big issue is power/distance. I know it's because my swing is junk. I play with a guy who has very little backswing but he out drives me by fifty yards. Even when I hit what I think is a nice straight shot and I'm happy with it, I see where it ends up and I'm very disappointed. How can I get more power? I'm not terribly flexible but not stiff either. I can't come to terms with being that short with all my clubs. HAAAAAALLLLLPPPPP! 🤣
