    I love procedural materials so much, I'm basically recreating the Genesis sequence from Wrath of Khan for a music video right now, and I'm using this in Eevee to have the Earth start as a lava planet. Thanks so much!

    When you need to choose between affected and unaffected region a math node with greater than could work. Multiplied by the original. If needed. I feel it expresses the intent better, than a ramp.

    • @darkshiro7226
      @darkshiro7226 4 месяца назад

      I found my solution. To make your project glow properly after adding the "glare" effect in compositing, try this approach in the LAVA shading:
      Connect a Color Ramp node to the BSDF node (color to color) and set the emission strength to a value between 5 and 10. This should resolve the issue and make your glow effect work correctly.
      I had previously connected Alpha to the strength, which is why it didn't work :D

    I identify one flaw with this. The .5 distortion factor that indicates the red-orange lava flow lines, they do not correlate with the solid parts. (for example, sometimes they flow *into* the solid rock parts, and sometimes they flow parallel to the "shorelines" of the rocky parts.
    There should be some physics that determine how the flows are related to the rocky parts, right?
    Theoretically, is there a way to fix this, or is maybe this just something that is not possible within blender?

    Oh, so you've made a NYC material. I live in that here. You'd be surprised what you can get used to if you are exposed to it long enough. I've been wondering about why you use voronoi over musgrave texture nodes, and noise texture over white noise nodes (the content creators in the EU tend to use white noise nodes to add randomness), I wonder the difference... is it a thought out choice by you, or it's always how you've done it so it was like grandfathered in?

      I was thinking it was a eurocentric to cowboy (they call us cowboys) centric way of thinking... idk. The Blenderverse is wide and deep and completely inscrutable to me at least.

  • @thai_le_foto
    @thai_le_foto 9 месяцев назад

    Hi, I'm incredibly confused how mine is not looking remotely close to yours with the voronoi texture part. in 4.0, adding the color ramp after the voronoi texture, it only reveals the black "rock" spots as the noise lines, so it looks completely unrealistic. Yours is showing like rock filled chunks, mine is only showing black outlines, not filling in any gaps like that. No matter where the color ramp setting is. So the final result is not revealing any rocks at all, it is just showing a ton of those barely distorted triangles from the voronoi......I just deleted all that and re did it again and same result, it is not doing any reveal, when connecting voronoi texture distance to mix shader fac, it does not do what yours does and do nothing, it in fact shows the voronoi texture lines instead, and when using the color ramp, it only makes the orange spots brighter, not revealing like it shows on yours. So something must have changed, because this no longer works it seems.
