Really quick, If you're new to blender, this tutorial will only work if you do these steps: 1. Switch to Cycles 2. Go to Material>Settings>and under displacement, click Displacement and Bump The effect can be viewed in the Viewport Shader
@@Optimus97 He does a voiced uvular fricative [ʁ] prevocalically (approximately), and a sound I can't classify postvocalically. It sounds something like [ɹ~ʁ̞~ɚ~ʁ]. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The new format is cool, I really enjoy the style and I understand that you dont want to explain the basic stuff all the time, but please for the sake of accessibility add the plugin to show the pressed keys so I don't have to pause and reconstruct what you just did every 2 minutes if I get lost
For animating a flowing lava river you'd want to use the first option, which is manipulating the texture coordinates -- since you want detail to move along all at once. You still want the second option (W coordinate) for both flowing and stationary to subtly change the appearance without the whole thing just shifting over.
I was kinda blown away by the idea of 4th dimensional objects, and 3 dimensional cross-sections when I first learned about it, and I think it's pretty cool that I actually get to apply that knowledge to blender instead of letting it live in my brain, rent free for all of time.
After you changed video format the first time I thought I would miss the old one, but actually the thing that you change formats kinda frequently is what keeps the content fresh and entertaining for me. I really like to look at all the videos in retrospective and see how the format has progressed through time.
Elegant procedural lava. It really helped with my lava splashing animation on my channel where I used Flipfluids for splash simulation and applied your procedural lava to the fluid surface with minor modifications. Thank you CGMatter.

How did you avoid texture glitches? I Trier the same, but it doesn't look right
I use the current Blender 2.82.7, yet for any reason my noise texture node has no roughness option, any idea why? I am at a loss, following the tutorial to the T but getting completely different results
Music: Prokofiev - dance of the knights (romeo and juliet ballet, not anything else, ballet). Damn I love displacement tesselation. Remember when I use to high parameters in unreal engine 4 and with only one texture without the light and anything else, it will be 8fps in 720p (not the highest quality but daaaamn, looks like 100mil polygons in closeup).....
I have real questions here 1) Why when i connect the noise with the displacement my sphere remains the same? 2) Blackbody doesnt change anything and everything is dark, like making dry lava Help! I was following the instructions to learn and apply it in the future, but doesn't work for me
1) The noise texture node must be connected into a displacement node before being connected to the displacement input of the final result. 2) The blackbody node displays a color depending on temperature. If the temperature is not high enough, nothing appears and the material is black.
I loved how this lava shader can grow when it popped on Patreon! That is awesome. Been tied up and not able to check out so much of your recent output but this really caught my eye!
for some reason, my sub-surf modifier looks completely different, as well as my whole material also. Is there anything I'm completely missing? I've re-watched the tutorial about 10 times now... PLEASE SEND HELP
You can also make a snowy rocky ground with this technique. By either playing around with the emission color or leave it at Blackbody and crank the temperature up till it gets white
If you are wondering how to animate the lava like you see in the beginning of the video, it is very simple just change the scale in the displacement node

I’m guessing you watched the Polyjford stack video?
how was the accent both russian and french???
Maybe he parodied burry Russian "rrr" that sounds more like French. I'm one of those Russians who have it.
Because Russian is surprisingly close to French. Ever heard a real Russian accent? Sounds eerily similar to French if it's a light accent.
At least the last time I heard one.
