Hope you enjoyed this video and took some value from it! If you're considering taking your animation to the next level, and master Blender's animation tools at the same time, check out our Ultimate Animation Course: toanimate.ca/?
I remember when I first picked up Blender and had no idea what the 3D cursor was, and it annoyed me anytime I missclicked, and it got moved somewhere. I would eventually just completely disable it, but after years of learning and using Blender, it's become such a useful (albeit still somewhat annoying) tool for me.
Blender is my favorite tool for animation and I've been animating in Maya for almost 15 years. At first blender seems terrible for animation and many people never pass through this phase and keep spreading the idea that Blender is good for many things but not for animation, but it's just frustration.
It's honestly very true! If I wasn't forced to learn Blender, I may have given up when I found it difficult (because there was no good animation specific resources).
@@BrianKouhi and then you made a resource yourself. Great idea. Do you have any information about animation jobs in Blender in a video or something? I'm correctly working in Maya for paid jobs and blender for personal projects, but I would like to explore the possibilities of making money with animation in blender.
I haven't thought about that, but maybe it could be a future video. They're definitely out there, 2/5 of my last projects were in Blender. Our partner Vlad, also just left B-water studios which were also working in Blender.
One thing i learned from watching the "animation tricks of the trade" in the latest bcon was, change pivot types. In the talk the guys mention 2: 1- The only affect position (whic is not really a pivot, but it's in the pivot menu) 2- Use active element to move IK as it were FK
Hey, Those are scenes from our cinematic, not scenes from the curriculum . The focus of our Ultimate Animation Course is to give students a strong animation foundation so that they're able to create any shot in any setting, not to copy the instructor's shot frame by frame. Most courses get students to just copy them, and by the end the students only know how to make a couple of shots in one particular way and it does nothing to help them progress in their careers. We currently have the most comprehensive curriculum out of any animation course with over 100 lessons (over 30 hours of edited content) and is structured to best benefit the students. By the end of the course you would have learned how to handle props like a sword, and how to animate emotion like being scared, with a solid understanding of timing, spacing and appeal to put it all together. Hope this helps.
Im starting to get anxiety because I wanna make a movie but I’m so worried because there’s too much coding and options and feel like I won’t be able to do all of this by myself…
I disagree, blender makes the animation process more unpleasant, first you have to get so many plug-ins, and then figure out what went wrong when the plug is completely changes after an update... i am struggling to make it through the toanimate course
Hey Ricardo, could you let me know which parts of the course you're struggling with? Because we don't use any plug-ins to teach animation in our course 🤔
All the add-ons, free and paid are the exceptions that proof that blender usability has a long way to go. It is just not there. Users need to create, download, search and paid for add-ons that make Blender work better.
I'm confused because nearly every studio buys the Animbot add-on for their Maya animators because it gives way more functionality than vanilla Maya. Animbot is insanely more expensive too... So unless there's double standards, I don't agree with your take. Abundance of Add-ons show that the community is actively trying to improve the software, and Blender is community driven. As you heard in the video the good add-ons eventually get implemented into vanilla Blender.

I'm using blender for viscomm classes right now and appreciate these tips!
the 3d curser is such a useful tool in blender. it can do so much dispite being so simple.
Totally agree.

good old conformation bias
They are right. blender is still terrible for animation. Playblast addon?? Animation layers addon?? Just to make it work like Maya?? Very Nice

Great overview! Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!

@@BrianKouhi thank you
Guys can u please tell me how to move ur characters that u add in blender?
Ahh.. 😅 I was wondering which Animation specs are you using for your animation. And thank for taking your time to read this

You can still animate but just can't do the marker adjustments
I was wondering if blender has stacked view graph editor as maya
Hey, what do you mean by stacked view. If you mean Normalize (where all graphs fall between 1 and -1 in the graph editor) then yes.
Thank u sir
Happy to help :)
Walter White just killed it
Use a reference before you do the make up xD
Wait, Maya and the three was made in blender? That's kind of ironic
Haha it was definitely a confusing first few weeks of production.

hi brain can u make a complex animation i would pray for u everyday
Hey, not quite sure what you're asking. Could you expand on that?
@@BrianKouhi like making flip animation or something like that
