I've had a massive amount of ridiculous issues with air pumps. I don't know what is so hard to do with pumping air, but depending on the tank itself I would recommend different pumps.
The fluval one I had lasted just over 30 days before it stopped working. Besides that it was (keyword) one of my favorites.
Before that I used the aqueon quietflow pumps and they have generally been fine. Despite having a check valve I had backpressure issues from airlines having more pressure over time and they just stop working.
Then I've arrived on the Tetra deep version of their air pumps.
    A few notes.
    1. NEVER get an airpump with 2 outlets. It's much more reliable to have a metal gang valve instead of the dual outlet.
    2. If you have a tank over 12" tall consider the pond or "deep" air pumps. (these are the same power/pressure as the dual outlet pumps, but just one outlet)
    3. If you're following how Cory sets up his air stones for the co-op sponge filters be warned that it will cause some back pressure depending on how much you clean them. Don't put 3 of the felt washers to make sure you don't damage the pump itself.
Overall, the fluval one is "fine", the aqueon was more readily available at my house (fluval is as well) but I wouldn't recommend either one for someone with a decent tank, 29g or higher.

I find this interesting as I've used the dual outlet cheapest Wal-Mart pumps with great success. I had maybe 10 in my fish room over a year with zero failures running about 40 tanks? I swapped to a linear piston pump and sold them to club members. I did however have several tetra single air line pumps fail when I tried those.

Why does adding 3 felts cause ‘more’ back pressure on a pump? I haven’t noticed a difference in backpressure between 2 or 3 felts. Both clog if not maintained regularly. I look forward to hearing your experience.

@@barefootaquatics well when you put three on they get compressed a bit more than two... But more importantly isn't it amazing that the never clog stones clog more than regular air stones? Like way to name something 😂😂

@@Jeromeeb I agree that the ‘never clog’ is very misleading. I find that regardless of the number of felts, I regularly have to go in and loosen the threads a bit to return good airflow. I’m in the process of moving my fishroom from one house to another and am planning on switching out the felts and see if I can bleach the old felts to clean them and then reuse.

@@barefootaquatics it's soooo misleading. Even set reasonably loose I have the issue just takes longer. I've had the never clogs stop up more than any other air stone I've used, which admittedly were always course stones.

So I had a question regarding your experience with Mountain Top Puffer Keeper.. is he PACFA licensed in Colorado? I really want to breed fish and sell to stores but there's a stupid gov thing called PACFA that requires me to pay $500 for them to inspect my "fish room" which is a couple tanks in my basement. The requirements are crazy stupid and I can't legally sell any fish or shrimp without it. :/ its a huge bummer for hobbyist breeders in CO imo

He has not mentioned that he is and to my knowledge he has not sold any fish to a store.
