      Yeah hopefully it'll give people an idea of what they sound like before they spend their cash if they catch the video first. Hopefully will help. As you know first hand it's pretty annoying spending out on them and not being able to use them.

    super awesome Daniel....Hi Luna!!!! We like the pumps with the dials on them.....we also find most annoying noises come from vibration and just by setting a pump on a folded towel it can shut it up pretty good Mate....over all lots of other great tricks we have learned over the years too but this was a super demonstration and that instrument is awesome....happy new year sir!!!! By the way there was a Star Wars soap commercial at the beginning of this video so that was super cool!!!!

      Yeah there are plenty of noise reduction options for air pumps as you know but that would be separate, I tried to explore these pumps at base which I think would be the place to start for most people.

    I'd say for the amount of airflow they produce the Hailea wins, Awesome loudness test on these pumps Daniel! I would have thought the Eheim would have been the quietest, this is good info to know.

    Daniel that was most interesting. I feel that these tests are very important. If you are going to buy an air pump it has to meet your needs. I love it when someone goes to a lot of trouble to do these tests.
    The other test I would like to see repeated is one done by Cory McElroy the other year. It settles the question of the usefulness of the airstone. He tested the O2 dissolved in the water from an airstone as opposed to surface agitation. For this, he used an oximeter. When a stone was in use at the bottom of the tank the O2 level in the water jumped.
    I use my airstones at night when the lights are out and the CO2 is off and the plants go over to O2 usage. I just feel more comfortable.

    • @DanielKeepingFish
      @DanielKeepingFish 2 года назад +1

      I haven't seen that. Sure he has more resources available to do a better job of it but hope my wee video will be of some use and maybe encourage one or two people to look further and find Cory's video to further inform their choices.

    • @robertfletcher3421
      @robertfletcher3421 2 года назад +2

      @@DanielKeepingFish Your test was excellent noise can be so annoying. When I mentioned the O2 test I was not suggesting you should do it. Buying an oximeter I would guess is very costly. I go back to the 1970s where we used an air pump to drive the filters. We knew then that is where the tank kept its O2 levels up. We did not have any test kits and neither did we have any issues. A lot of these internet forums these days is full of myths. That's why I like your channel.
      Getting back to the O2 question a pump and some airstone is essential for peace of mind if nothing else.

    you wouldn't compare engine noise of a mini cooper and a fire truck, so I suppose you'd have to run them all at the same litres of air per min to get a correct value because you could simply lower their air out put down to match the Black Shark. They're all at half power, but half power on one may be a quarter of the power of another thus less noise. No wonder the Black Shark came out quietest at 300 LPM. I'd like to see it done whilst lowering the other models LPM value for a true test.
